Romulo Barral is an all time great, and Gordon made him look like a blue belt. The skill of Gordon Ryan is like the original rain man levels at a casino damn, nothing he does is difficult for any ordinary blue or purple belt but the timing, the precision, the hip pressure and switches dang so amazing

Incredible how slippery rumolo is from the bottom of side control with the body lock. Gordon has trouble climbing him past the hips.
But that jump to pass and take the back was just incredible. He compensated for the inversion+rotation that rumolo was in the process of doing.
Top 3 things to take from this imo
    1. Gordons spacial awareness and his ability to put himself in the spot with the angle needed to mount the back successfully.
    2. Gordon's handfighting. He uses push and pull and specific grips to get specific leverage and encourage specific reactions. So so so much subtlety in his handfighting and grip breaking tactics as well as John's techniques.
    3. Weight placement. load and unload. He is able to maintain balance when sliding over the knee. He is at the edge of balance and tipping over but he knows where his opponent is loaded and or unloaded, thus able or unable to tip him any further in that direction.

That body lock pass has been like a cheat code since for me. Hearing Gordon talk about passing Tom DeBlass more times in one day than all other times combined was quite a statement. Likewise I’ve passed people consistently with it that I normally wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. A 10 hour instructional sounds excessive, but it’s been incredibly useful and one of the best instructionals I’ve ever bought.

At 45 seconds in that’s what I’m talking about, they have both butterfly hooks I’m but you’re smashing them flat. Typically I sprawl to clear on leg and passing to the left they still have the right leg in and you do a move that looks like a dog pissing on a fire hydrant to step over. Even if they opt to try to get their right leg in for half guard I have the body lock which I slide the right arm up to an underhook and left arm to a cross face which you’ll all but certainly pass because you have them in flattened out with a cross face and underhook in.

Perfectly allowed most competitors just dont do it because points arent recorded the first 5 minutes and the length of an adcc match means people wanna pace themselves more. Big throws esoecially because they dont give points but expend energy to set up . Women like kendall reusing and ffion davies have some cool match and looked good with those judo throws. Pulling guard or judo trips/sacrifice throws are more preferable. Takedowns would come later in the match after points is recorded. Slams are allowed but im sure slam knockouts dont count.

@@GuluMammadli Agreed. Romulo is a legit ADCC legend and probably on the açaí as well here. It’s hard to understand just how good Gordon is. It’s scary that he’s far better now than he was in 2017.

@@nathantheophilus4856 Meregali is one of the highest rated gi competitors. Danaher is not responsible for his success. Just like Pedigo isn't responsible for the medal that Musumeci got after training there for like 3 weeks. Danaher's legion of students are very good but none of them are anywhere near Gordon's level. Garry didn't even get through the first round. 19 year old kade ruotolo has had more success p4p than everyone from danaher.
