You have no idea how much this helps. I can build a bike from frame up but the derailleur setup always have me issues this makes it more clear and hopefully I can do it all myself now
Not all derailleurs are a like so occasionally one of them will give you issues. It’s just a matter of playing around with the tensioning and limiting screws. If all fails then it’s a bent or damaged derailleur in which we can easily miss because we get too caught up in the basics.
In my 6 years of tinkering with bikes, I was always afraid of messing with the derailleur, but a month ago, I finally learned how to adjust it, and it's actually really simple.
Nice to see Microshift Sword being deployed on new bikes; I'm anticipating your review! Also glad Poseidon now has stock thru axles & offering a JuinTech brake upgrade.
... although I wish the upgrade brakes being offered were the JuinTech GT-F (4-piston) calipers, instead of their F1 model. Oh well, still a decent upgrade.
love your video and thank you for making it simple enough...and doable for non mechanic like myself to actually buy the bike and build it myself...or attempt to build it alongside while playing your video tutorial here :)
Excited to see the new stuff from Poseidon. It seems they have basically taken the most popular upgrades people make and incorporated them into the base design.
Best build video I have seen. I have the X Ambition and the indexing is off. Your explanation was awesome. Just a note, I use a bubble level when leveling my seat.
I saw this bike at sea otter back in April and was intrigued, but never saw it on the website. Ended up with a second hand roubaix but still intrigued with this bike. Looking forward to the review.
I bought an X Ambition to use as an endurance road bike/commuter in May, and while it has been fantastic (even compared to some expensive bikes I've owned in the past), I admit that I am watching this out of pure jealousy that I didn't wait a few more months to pick one of these up.
I’m always impressed how methodical you are in your videos. I’ve watched you a lot and would like to think I’m knowledgeable. But every time I see you I learn something new (eg knurl nuts on one of the pedals). How much arcane bike facts do you know! As always love the content.
We need a review of the new triton ! Max tire? Weight? Arrrgh can’t wait! Got this from the website- comes with 32’s. “The Triton has tire clearances for a 700 x 40 on the fork and up to a 700 x 37 in rear (tire and rim combos can vary so a 700 x 35 is favored for the back).”
For pedals, all you have to remember is “Back-Off” on both sides to get them off (and by that thought “forward -on” to put them on). Screw spindle of correct side pedal forward turn to get pedal on, screw backwards to get off.
great start to finish video! Just curious poseidon lists the weight of the bike at 24lbs with pedals in a size large, is that in line with what you're seeing out of the box?
Thanks for the video, I'm nearly ready to ride. However, when I'm in my smaller chainring, the chain itself is super loose, like resting on the chainstay. I'm able to pedal the bike and shift through the gears. Is there an adjustment I need to make on the rear derailuer to tighten everything up? If I push it manually down and back it seems like that's where it should be.
Sounds like the rear derailleur spring isn’t fully retracting. Can you verify if the clutch knob is fully turned to either side and not stuck halfway between settings?
@@TheBikeSauce at 4:13 when you show the tab on the inside of the derailluer... That was like rotated 270 degrees around. So I took it off, spun it into the right place, and then I was good to go. Thank you!
For the brake adjustment, isn't it a good method to loosen the callipers a bit, then pull on the brake lever, and then tighten the bolts back up? This is what i did so far, and don't see any fault in the method as an amateur, but it's the second video these days that i see where a light background and eyeballing it is used.
that method works well in principle, but there's often too much friction between the mounting faces to truly pull the calipers center. Especially on hydro systems where the pad gaps are so small. Some find that it works well, but I always prefer a more surgical approach and I like to see the gap on either side.
I will be anticipating your review on the new triton because it is far from a road bike compared to its old version. Poseidon is appealing too much to the “gravel” cyclists. Not everyone lives on the western or eastern coasts by the mountains and yet alone want to go off road. The new triton is a more of a CX (cross-country/cyclocross) style bike in my opinion. Not much of a difference between their other line up of bikes if they all advertise “gravel” and “off road”. The X is still the better of the bunch as it has the potential for a 2x drivetrain if not mistaken it has a slot for cable housing on the drive side. Unless it was intended for a dropper post but could be wrong.
Valid observations. Certainly an evolution, but it’s still a road bike. First thoughts are that it appeals to entry to intermediate level riders who aren’t all about aggressive aero geometry. It’s a great platform to get into road cycling on a budget
Sorry if I missed in the video, but which size did you get and what are your measurements. New to biking and unsure if I go Large or XL. I am 6' with a 32" inseam. In the past I did have a triathlon bike (2015 Felt B16 size 56cm FWIW). Anyone have thoughts or suggestions on Triton sizing for me?
Just got my bike today! Super helpful, thank you 🙏 For anyone else who struggled with brake alignment, I found this method much more straightforward: ruclips.net/video/NmqGeLNcVIg/видео.html Also: I accidentally pulled the crimp off of my front derailleur cable while trying to get rid of some more chain rubbing 😓 I'll need to get a new crimp, but for awareness the cable frays easily and it's important to address. Found this video helpful: ruclips.net/video/1HJemLHtaEs/видео.html My last bike was stolen last year. Finally buckled up and went for this one.. just took it around the block a couple times to bed the brakes.. learned a lot today - feels great to ride again. Thanks again!
I think you’re not supposed to grease the centerlock rotors/spline. I’m no expert but I just happened to watch the park tool video discussing this last weekend 😂. I believe the sram manual also didn’t mention greasing them in the install instructions.
Tiny bit of grease makes anything come off easier next time. But maybe they’re concerned will contaminate the rotor, so to be on safe side they say don’t put any on ?
@@OutThere42 yeah, I think it’s just to avoid possible contamination. Seems very possible it’s not an issue with a really light amount as he mentioned in the video, but figured I’d just mention they claim it’s not required (or recommended) in this case. 🤷🏻♂️

Great tutorial! You explained the whole process clearly. Having worked on bikes for almost 50 years, i couldn’t have explained the process any better.
Great vid for anyone needing to build a bike. You have a great presentation style.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to adjust my derailleurs for years. For some reason your tutorial finally clicked. Thanks for a great video!
Sounds like a fun getaway with the fam and some quality saddle time
Valuable information provided in a concise easy to follow manner. I never knew to start on the second smallest cog for indexing. Thanks
This is an awesome tutorial on basic care of any modern bike.

Around the 5 minute mark is very reminiscent of OG RJ the bike guy videos... Love it
I’m impressed with the tools Poseidon gives wow!
Great video, was good to check off how you set the bike up having watched elements in your other content!

Nolan is a future GCN presenter🎉,cool bike
Nice video. Just put the 1X sword brifters on the Grade with what appear to be the same but different brand brakes. Good tips!
When the title says "COMPLETE" in all caps, you weren't kidding 😂
HAHAHA. They wanted a very detailed build video to direct customers to. I tried to hit every point Poseidon mentioned.
Cool and very educational video on the assembly, fingerprints shouldn't contaminate any disc brake surface,it's to thin but any spray oils will.💯🚴♂️

I wish poseidon would do cooler colors. Not a fan of most of their frame colors

I didn't mention it since this is just the build video. I'll mention in the review video. For you, most likely a Large. XL may feel too stretched out.
I was really hoping to get a bike weight
This is just a build vid. I'll do a review as well.
No mention of the b screw
Had to draw the line somewhere to keep video length reasonable. That’s gonna be well adjusted at the factory for the most part
The only thing you should say for the b-limit is,”don’t mess with this unless you are changing to a larger cassette.”
Bro got caught turning left pedal wrong way 🤓 otherwise great video
Habit to turn opposite way until threads catch, then turn the proper way. Same for all threaded fasteners, but thx

Do you want to be able to remove it later? Grease.

Totally fair. 30 yr habit to grease metal-metal interfaces. Ok to not grease rotor splines I suppose.
Rim brakes for the win...
