I'm impressed to see all these solar panels. The investment looks like a sincere effort. I would like Apple to be transparent about exactly where they're buying their carbon credits, and for those credits to be independently evaluated by NYT, WSJ, and others. Based on many reports, it seems like private market carbon credits need to be assumed worthless until proven otherwise by investigative journalists.
People need to understand what carbon offsetting is. Reporters never explain it. All it is is paying a green company money to say you're green. It's carbon credits. It's a total scam and nothing is actually less polluting.
Carbon credits is what automakers are buying. Apple is indeed less polluting, because they're not pulling from the grid. The "impact" is minuscule, though. Meanwhile tim still flies his private jet etc. Solar is great, but not only is it adrop on ahot stone, its actually saving them money because that energy is cheap. The motivation here is purely profit oriented. If it really was about green energy, they would have started this many years ago, since they have the money to do the initial investment
@@fetB they are still pulling from the grid. There is no direct wire from any generation point directly to any of Apple's properties. That's what people don't get. It's nice to see, but in truth, 95% of other large corporations could care less and won't do a thing. Making these efforts nearly useless. Massive CO2 scrubber fans and conversion plants powered by solar power will be a big industry soon enough. The irony, made into a fuel source, industrial carbon creates insane amounts of energy.
The best way to "fight" climate change is to produce more heirloom and organic agriculture and biodiversity. Literally, nothing else will matter besides having more gardens in backyards and more areas left alone for native plants to grow. If you don't let the environment be a natural ecosystem, it doesn't matter how many solar panels you install.
The propaganda is thick on this one. Right to repair longer lasting phones and the actual ability to replace batteries is what would help with carbon output.

Where man builds cities, they become hot spots around the world, contributing to the very thing Apple opposes - Climate change. In building and using so much land for solar power, how have the temperatures changed in those areas? Increases in heat is bad for the overall environment, and that land which formerly supported life in the wild, natural life, has now become unfriendly to such in a way similar to building dams and killing off fish and other life dependent of the flow of water. Carbon neutral sounds nice, but even Mother Nature knows carbon dioxide is necessary for photosynthesis. Solar nay reduce carbon dioxide by not producing any of it during use, but how much CO2 is made during the mining, manufacturing, transportation, and recycling of those items? Are we better off with less CO2 but more man-made hot zones?
In claiming Apple believes in "treating everyone with dignity and respect", how does that work out for persons who cannot speak or defend themselves, and for people of views Apple does not agree with? Does everyone have a right to free say their own opinion regardless of how controversial the subject? Does Apple terminate contracts and apps because they allow their users a different degree of free speech? When considering the demolition of a building, if there's any doubt about a person being inside the building, do you just continue to blow up the building? What is Apple's view on treating the unborn with dignity and respect? If there's any doubt of a life being present, you must abort the option of abortion until you can definitely know there is no person present. Person's come in all sizes due to the natural course of life, and there are many stages of life we all go through. Protecting and treating babies with dignity and respect happens even for the stages of life when the person is helpless, so with the natural biological process of humans having children via women who get pregnant, we know that the babies are the result of those pregnancies and the lives are just earlier stages. Does Apple support avoiding abortion by using other means like adoption and supporting all women through their journey of pregnancy and beyond?

I said upgradable not repairable. Macs could have RAM, HDD, other components replaced by the user. Now everything is soldered and glued together. There’s no good reason Apple couldn’t make something like a Fairphone other than greed.
I like Tim but at the end of the day it is all about share price and Wall Street.
Basically, as long as money and power is involved, morality can be easily sidestepped. 20th century capitalism in a nutshell, people.
20th?
21st*
Ford dumping lead paint waste into a local water reservoir in a native american reserve was a morality sidestepped in the 20th century.
it's all about buying solar panels from china in exchange for selling phones in china.
Love his answer to the question about celebrity. Very humble and he’s very correct. First time I’ve really seen him interviewed and I like his answers.
Great interview! I appreciate the journalist asking these questions.
Black Polo with red buttons is fire
I am fan of Cook! We need more CEOs like him.
🤮 😂
Pure Fantasy!!!
How many trees have Apple planted worldwide? That would make a big actual difference.
So disheartening to know everything that's going to be said in an interview based only on which network is doing it. These echochamers aren't news whether it's FOX CBS NBC etc. American journalism has failed us completely.
Way to go Tim ! ! ! !
There must be something behind all of these initiatives, I don't think this millionaire companies do things out of the goodness of their heart. There is ALWAYS money involved.
You can have both. That’s what apple does. Wegmans Food Markets is another fantastic company!
ESG Scores
He said he’s just an ordinary person, and we’re only admiring the company, not him.
Glad to say with confidence, you’re wrong Sir.
We may take Apple’s success for granted now, but really there was no guarantee that any other Steve Job successor would hv been this successful. The amazing thing Tim Cook has done is to carry on Steve Jobs’ legacy. Many less steady hands could hv messed things up. Fact that years after Steve’s passing that Apple is still the undisputed leader in the smartphone industry, is no easy feat
Thank you for sharing.
mr Cook, "difference of opinion"... it is a difference in VALUES sir.
Then people would understand you’re shifting coins from one bank account to another.
Nailed it! It’s all a scam.
Once power is produced from a facility like this, it goes into the grid. Electricity is electricity. Of course on-prem solar is different but I doubt they're pumping electricity back into the grid at these locations.
@@TaylorMMontgomery Either way, whether they use it, or its fed to the grid, its less electricity that needs to be produced via coal and that's less pollution
Texas is a problem, but OK with doing business in China?
Texas and China are a problem but since money talks...
I dont think China matches US or Apple's values either. As he said, it is unfortunate. He tries to be part of the conversation in the areas where apple has business where people have more extreme views
Please bring leather cases back Apple! we loved the leather cases!!
This is why I give apple my money.
How did clean energy turn into Texas abortion ban…
Thank you Apple & @TimCook for your sustainability efforts! 💚🌍
Oh there’s always someone who complain 👆🏻. At least they trying compared to other companies or even governments.
You know what would really help? Planting trees everywhere.
Such an incredible human being 👏
The best way to "fight" climate change is to produce more heirloom and organic agriculture and biodiversity. Literally, nothing else will matter besides having more gardens in backyards and more areas left alone for native plants to grow. If you don't let the environment be a natural ecosystem, it doesn't matter how many solar panels you install.
Why does it feel like this show is still stuck in the 90’s 😂
The propaganda is thick on this one. Right to repair longer lasting phones and the actual ability to replace batteries is what would help with carbon output.
Very insightful video for such a private person and company
Is there a full interview available?
So his name is Tim Cook. Like tech and food industry will always be a complex mystery but like he’s like the chillest tech guy.
Lithium batteries are not carbon neutral.
Good that they are made with recycled cobalt now 👍🏻
Love Tim!
I love my iPhone, but every time I see Tim Cook, I think if the Snow Miser, from The Year Without a Santa Claus 😁
I wish I could afford a carbon neutral watch. I would wear it every day.
😮😅
It’s called a sundial, winner.
I want Apple to lead by example in paying its real share of American taxes!
Taxes are meant to add value to the world. Apple already adds many values to the world by changes many landscapes by introducing many EASY to USE products and other companies copy them and iffer at cheaper price and with better hardware. Apple is a designer and platform, not hardware manufacturer like Samsung. Apple is more like Google adding value to the wirld everyday
Profits are used for R&D which costs a lot
@PSy84 Profits are used for many different reasons, and there is nothing wrong with that. But corporations still need to pay their share of taxes.
@@PSy84 No excuse not to pay taxes.
The best question asked of Tim Cook is if he told the buyer to hold off for the next iPhone launching in a few days. Knowing he's a mastermind in supply chain management, you'd think he's elastic that someone wants to help him clear out inventory of old models.
Would be nice if you can replace batteries on Iphone or right to repair as also eco friendly
Then you will miss the water-proof
Says the CEO of the company that engineers their products specifically to not be repairable so that people throw away their fixable apple products to buy new ones
Don’t tell me about how you care and love the environment when it involves money.
The Apple Sound Bar. Cmon. Make it.
HomePod?
@jbnelson No one has one.
@@Crimsonphilosophy I have 3 bigs, 3 minis. If you’d be in the market for an Apple soundbar, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be in the market for Apple HomePods? 🤨
I love Apple and Tim is one of the reasons why. Steve was prescient with naming him as successor.
Everything he said was well said and thought out. Tim is a good man that understands capitalism will lead the way to a better future for all of us, just as it has against the evil socialists/communists of this country. Thanks Tim, for making good products and making them an example for other companies to follow.
I must disagree because capitalism has allowed large corporations buy our Representatives, Senators and Presidents and they are leading us into fascism. The GOP wants to rule us not represent us. I am truly worried about our democracy since the Supreme Court allowed donations from companies to our government.
Exactly. It's depressing watching tankies blabber on about how all corporations are evil and we must end capitalism. While some corporations are certainly evil, we are well into a new era were successful companies will lead the way with clean energy, good jobs, opportunities for everyone, environmental sustainability, etc.
Tim Apple is the best.
Please bring back manufacturing in the us
And sacrifice profits on each and every device sold? They also pay tax according to the country in charge of the manufacturing which is less than IRS would charge. And the human labor costs are lowered too even though they do the same amount of work or more being done in the US. Good admin but clearly unhealthy.
Tsmc...
apple should make it's own version of facebook and twitter.
I appreciate your initiative, but can it be done without children working in mines in Africa?
Apple has a meaningfull future, Tim Cook and also Steve Jobs and others worked for that purpose.
I still like working with APPLE programms and like the devices.
SOld the stock imediately after the cringe commerical
Woah I worked on this project
best CEO ever
arent they making all their stuff in china anyway? and displays are from samsung ( ?)which google says can be in india/ china/ vietnam. It's like they're powering a couple dozen of pcs in their offices and thinking they're half way there in terms of changing the world. dudes in china still have one of the worst air quality stats in the world n stuff. i dont think theyre going full solar or whatever x)
Play work is the best thing for me
I respect Tim for focusing on recycling and caring about the planet that all these devices come out on. He’s an activist and a genius.
How many phones are you making for blind and deaf people?
Being at the upper end of S-curve is a challenge. It shows. They have not had a revolutionary product for years. Happens to every branch of tech. Apple has nothing new to offer. Cook's replacement will be crucial and either just coast along or do something great.
The Apple Watch? The Vision Pro? Have you been living under a rock?
Love apple they make the best of everything.
Cant have clean energy without Foxconn suicide nets aint that right Tim?
I can’t imagine how fun you are to hang out with.
Amazing! Congratulations on the environmental achievements!
The wealthiest company in the world, great example of ESG. Green energy? No such thing, ever as long as there is a human footprint, even solar panels.
Apple needs to have more interviews with journalists because they ask the more important questions. RUclipsrs who get to talk to Apple execs sound like they're parroting off of a press briefing.
i love you tim and apple too!!!!
It's Tim Apple!!!
This is great leadership
People need things to think about
Tim Cook is a daily brisk walker.
Tim Apple Walks Every Day
1% humanity 99% marketing
Better than nothing.
A little bit less of a carbon (CO2) in the air and the plants will start dying. I am sure Tim knows that.
was that field dry before those panels were installed or the soil was affected by the heat of those panels.
I love that a power gay is at the helm of my favorite company.
Why the hit on Twitter in a story about Apple?
What is the number one platform Twitter is accessed on?
Brainwashing
ccp threatened about stopping people from buying iphones in china(in support of huawei) few days ago, pleasing the ccp with promoting china's green products like solar panels ,batteries, ev........maybe a strategy of Tim to "create good conditions" for negotiations.
Holy crap, does that opening scene with the field of solar panels remind me of that Johnny Depp movie, “Transcendence”. So… is Tim, Johnny?
This dude is the biggest lier this world has to offer. I cant wait till his time is up.
Yes Tim, Apple has been a great example by anti-repair venture, and other companies looked that that, and said, we can glue that too.
I don't create it just see the new one so am waiting on the new one like every body else
I was weened on Apple-Mac in college! The big problem with Apple, is that in being visionary they leave what they've created behind, no continual support or backwards compatibility....
I think Tim is simply making things easy on Apple™ by not waiting on the gov't to provide the technological infrastructure his and other products will need.
Talk about perfect timing 9n my part, I was out walking the mean streets of Beverly Hills the other that and low and behold, I run into Tim Cook gazing at his new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5!
I'd show y'all proof, but Tim was too quick for me to catch him in the act 🎬!
Anyways, Southwest Airlines got some of the best air fare rates going on right now, so hurry while supplyblast!
Do we need 4 new iPhones or MacBooks every year? Doesn't seem very green to me. Also think of all the solder they could save by letting us replace ram/storage. Can't wait for him to retire and get an innovator in.
Love Tim apple!
Thin film solar on standing seam metal roofs is an interesting idea
A lot of people don’t know he’s from Alabama and went to Auburn University. War eagle Tim!
What about all the e-waste from all the lightning cables that will be discarded over the course of next few year?
