Just proves the drummer is driving, steering and pushing the whole thing.... Not to take away from the rest of the great player. Brilliant sax soli. Brilliant all around.

I always thought Dave Weckle was the heir apparent to the Buddy Rich drum throne and this proves it. Outstanding big band drumming.

I know a little bit about Buddy's style. I also know a little bit about Dave's style. The Buddy Rich memorial concerts have a lot of guys playing buddies charts tremendously well. With all respect and all love is honest Lee have to say Dave sounds so damn good doing buddies charts that if you close your eyes the sound the feel and the technique is all there. It's a beautiful thing for someone to play up to the one-of-a-kind....Mr. Buddy Rich!!!!

DAve Weckl I feel the only drummer to do this gig. Interesting to watch the differences between BR and DW; immediately to me is DW use of left hand on crash cymbal. BR did this but far less so.

That's how DW sets it up it is angled for trad grip I do this myself now as it matches the angle of the grip and brings out the natural rebound of the drum if your a traditional grip player ala Keith Carlock.
