The vram is only a storage space for data, from there this data gets passed to the GPU for being processed to produce frames. You can see in the video that GPU usage was 99% which shows the GPU was working at max. Now coming to your question, even If the 24GB vram is used, frames depend on GPU usage and not Vram usage.
The game doesn't need it so it "ain't taking advantage" of it. It's like adding more ram when the game doesn't use it all up anyways. No point. For up to 4k (except for some games), over 10gb vram is useless.
yup rtx3090 3x8pin top model can outperperform at 450-500w rtx3080 a lot over 20% roughly :) yeah its beyond power efficient anyhow but cool performance ;)
Im gonna expand this by saying that if you're making a pc for gaming, the maximum budget for the pc should be around $2500-$2600. Going above this, you will need to spend a lot more money but you'll be getting very little fps improvement.
It sucks when I see the MSRP and that I paid $1,361.26 for my MSi RTX 3080 Suprim X, but at least its still better than the 2080 ti and that was priced even higher on release.
I like the 3080, good price point for the new Ampere and performance boost, but the 3090 isn't worth it for about 1,500$. 2080 Ti and other 2000 series cards are still good and so on and can still do 4K at a good and stable frame rate.
FITTbog you clearly have no clue stock difference of 15% overclocked 3090 can push that near 20%. There also doesn’t exist a gpu that can get more performance then a 3090. Its not our fault you don’t have a job or save your money enough to afford a product.

I'll just be waiting for the 4xxx series, my EVGA 2080 ti FTW3 ultra does the job more than fine on my 1440p display. Soon getting a Valve Index so I'm curious how many FPS I'll be getting on that thing.
Buying a 3090 for gaming isn't cost effective, nor is intended to be. Buy it for the extra VRAM used in editing, rendering, etc. maybe an all in one gaming/streaming setup, but still not cost effective compared to a two pc system
The boost clock of the 30er cards are much lower than 2000 MHz :O (My 2080ti does up to 2050Mhz...) Produced in 8Nm proceed but they are go 2 steps backwards in Boostclock-Rate? Maybe because the known capacitor problem? They should be more possible
You're basically buying a slightly faster GPU die with an extra 14 GB of GDDR6X VRAM. Part of the expense is a significant bump in very expensive memory. If you actually need this much memory, you understand the value of the card. If you are the kind of person to think in "frames per dollar," you are a gamer and this card isn't for you. Yes, the card should be where old Titans were ($1,000-$1,200), but it's not outrageous proposition if you're actually using the full capabilities of the card.
Honestly if you can get an RTX 3090 FE nowadays then just get one instead of paying scalpers tons of money. ($1,400 or more for a RTX3080 right now). An RTX 3090 FE only costs slightly much and you get tons more of memory, which is future proof. The easiest RTX3090 to get is probably from Zotac though since their official website is actually bot-proof. But any AIB cards these days are significantly more expensive since the "Trump Tax" on imported electronics, especially those from China and its regions(Taiwan, HK, etc)...So FE is a deal if you don't care about aesthetics.
Oh please, while entering the town of Rattay in Kingdom Come Deliverance, even these cards will take a pounding like never before. Any old card can handle the country side just fine...
What 3090 are you using? Your link in description doesn't work for me. I look forward to seeing some high end 3090's tested, as the Asus Strix OC 3090 is 19-20% faster than 3080.
10 percent performance diff. You can easily close that gap by overclocking the 3080. And even at 4k gaming, you won't need more than 12 GB of Vram. What a shame, now everyone is gonna want to buy the 3080, even those who have the money for a 3090, causing stocks to be depleted for even longer. I guess I won't have a 3080 for the next three months.
I see 4k is still not worth adopting. Fastest gpu in the world and still barley faring out 60fps.. 1440p at 120fps + on mid tier card still seems like the way to go imo
I mean, to be fair.. the 3090 wasn't meant / made to be a gaming card. It's a work(station) card. That's what all that VRAM is for. VRAM and other stuff. It's still good for gaming but that wasn't it's purpose.
It may be a +10fps and +10C difference, but I'm considering buying one as it's the only card that isn't getting completely bought up in a nanosecond :/

@@ryanolsen294 I know that,all I said is that 4K still has aliasing
Perfect video man thank you. It looks like games will be optimized around 10GB of VRAM and the 3080 10GB should be fine until Hopper.
Those who are complaining over the fps, you also have to keep in mind that the 3090 has more than double the vram that 3080 has. That vram costs money
@@subdiee Correct it changes nothing in games.
24gb of v ram for what it just sits there anyway no thanks.
Space Dust.
The difference betwen the prices is because 3080 is for gaming and 3090 is for other graphic stuff
Would we see a huge difference if games took advantage of all those 24GB of 3090, tho?!
No point.
For up to 4k (except for some games), over 10gb vram is useless.
i wish these channels would test MMO games too like Guild Wars 2... especially in world vs world... where there are 300 people at the same time.
Nvidia : Let's make +10fps worth +800$
Nvidia engineers: Yes
The 3090 isnt meant for gaming as much as the 3080
virtually identical- bruce buffer
3080 runs much cooler ~10C
yup rtx3090 3x8pin top model can outperperform at 450-500w rtx3080 a lot over 20% roughly :) yeah its beyond power efficient anyhow but cool performance ;)
3080 is the max u should go for gaming, if u go for 3090 , u are wasting your money! 🤑
Im gonna expand this by saying that if you're making a pc for gaming, the maximum budget for the pc should be around $2500-$2600. Going above this, you will need to spend a lot more money but you'll be getting very little fps improvement.
This comment aged like milk. You get a 3090 for the added vram if you want to play 4k in high textures.
It sucks when I see the MSRP and that I paid $1,361.26 for my MSi RTX 3080 Suprim X, but at least its still better than the 2080 ti and that was priced even higher on release.
Give me the money and I'll surely buy a 3090 for 10fps more :P
Good stuff mate !!! but tbh not worth the extra money for 3090 also waiting for 3070 desperately for the price to performance ❤️👍
Average 10fps deference save your time and money
Do you use a second pc for recording clip or record directly on one pc? Thanks.
Wait for RTX 4090 guys xD
Nah 6090ti better XD
2080 ti owners be like XD
JoeOnYT no better wait for 90090 ti super cyber nano quantum gpu
@@halbastjabar7053 I want it affordable so I'm gonna wait till 11000k releases and then buy it
@@joeonyt196 11000k will release soon
the CPU
I like the 3080, good price point for the new Ampere and performance boost, but the 3090 isn't worth it for about 1,500$. 2080 Ti and other 2000 series cards are still good and so on and can still do 4K at a good and stable frame rate.
People need to understand that the 3090 is a 8k card
Thanks for uploading in 4K 60 FPS, it’s just great on my iPad pro
The whole point of this video is 4k?
3090 is a joke for more than DOUBLE the price.
FITTbog you clearly have no clue stock difference of 15% overclocked 3090 can push that near 20%. There also doesn’t exist a gpu that can get more performance then a 3090. Its not our fault you don’t have a job or save your money enough to afford a product.
@@Tony-yn5rr As said you idiot 10-15% for more than DOUBLE the price. Its a joke. And that still holds true whether you can afford it or not.
@@Tony-yn5rr No game needs 24 GB of VRAM unless you are playing at 8k. RTX 3090 literally a joke from a gamers perspective. It only makes sense to buy it if you are a game developer or into 3D modeling, which most people aren't.
ベジータ Your calling a 3090 a joke while I get over 100 fps maxed with advanced settings on in red dead at 2k. God some people
@@Tony-yn5rr And I got 90 fps on my 3080. So you wasted $800 for no real difference hahahaha.
If u want to play casually at 1080-4k get the 3080 OC it to +150mhz
If u want to play at 8k+ Render Films and do workstation stuff this is basically a Titan RTX with a OC at 70% the price
Неоправданно дорого.
Результат будет только в 8к.
@_Extern_ What?
$1500 for a graphics card dam
10-20%
А цена в 2 раза
2x 3080 vs 1x 3090 ... that would be interesting, as for the price of one 3090 you can have two 3080
sli is not possible no more on 3080 and under, only 3090
10FPS or less?
maybe after 8 years 3090's 35fps can "totally defeat" 3080’s 25fps
Lmao, for the price I was expecting a 20-30% increase in performance.
I thought the diffrence would be the same as the 3080 against the 2080ti but in reality the difference is the same as a 2080s against a 2070s
RTX 3060 gang where you at ??
Just imagine paying extra $800 to get those 5 fps in flight stimulator.
Yeah glad I stuck with the RTX 3080. The 3090 doesn't look like a great deal at all
Ya cause the 3090 is meant for productivity. The 3080 is specifically for gaming
im happy i get my 3080 gaming oc in price of 999$ in nowdays its almost like impossible... :P i will use it to 1440p screen but there is always 200% scale resolution options ingames or just stanard scale resolutuin in control panel ;)
10gb vram is on the edge that thing wont last long , cant wait for 4080 16-20GB 800$ . Ebay will be flooded with 3080s
I'll just be waiting for the 4xxx series, my EVGA 2080 ti FTW3 ultra does the job more than fine on my 1440p display. Soon getting a Valve Index so I'm curious how many FPS I'll be getting on that thing.
Just bought mine. Should be here tomorrow. Went with the 3090 FE but sitting on a 2070 Super FTW3 until the 3090 arrives from Nvidia.
You pay the $ 700 difference for the sli feature, not for the 13% fps difference.
Buying a 3090 for gaming isn't cost effective, nor is intended to be. Buy it for the extra VRAM used in editing, rendering, etc. maybe an all in one gaming/streaming setup, but still not cost effective compared to a two pc system
Exactly a 10% performance difference for more than 100% price increase. Sheesh
The boost clock of the 30er cards are much lower than 2000 MHz :O (My 2080ti does up to 2050Mhz...) Produced in 8Nm proceed but they are go 2 steps backwards in Boostclock-Rate?
Maybe because the known capacitor problem? They should be more possible
those 10-15FPS at 4k are huge, that's what I think people don't understand... 4K is immensely more demanding than 10-15 extra fps at 1080 or 1440p
You are the best, and trustworthy graphics cards tester in whole YT
This is similar to 2080 Ti vs. Titan RTX. A "fair" comparison would be Titan RTX vs. 3090.
I'll be honest, for the price and specs difference (+1792 cuda cores, more rops, bandwith etc) this isn't stunning at all...
OMG its happening. Everybody stay calm
imagine don't getting the 3090 isn't a gaming gpu but is a replace for the titan
So basically 3090 is 3080 TI
PSA: multiply the numbers 2x for Australian pricing.
Yeah the best 3080 is A$1800
And flip the numbers upside down for Australian POV
10 percent performance diff. You can easily close that gap by overclocking the 3080.
And even at 4k gaming, you won't need more than 12 GB of Vram.
What a shame, now everyone is gonna want to buy the 3080, even those who have the money for a 3090, causing stocks to be depleted for even longer.
I guess I won't have a 3080 for the next three months.
I see 4k is still not worth adopting. Fastest gpu in the world and still barley faring out 60fps.. 1440p at 120fps + on mid tier card still seems like the way to go imo
+10-15% more fps
+115% price
Seems good
I mean, to be fair.. the 3090 wasn't meant / made to be a gaming card. It's a work(station) card. That's what all that VRAM is for. VRAM and other stuff. It's still good for gaming but that wasn't it's purpose.
what software is used to display fps, gpu.memory and others ?
I believe it's MSI Afterburner.
Unless there is some driver trickery going on here there is little to no point for a 3080 20 Gb or a super or even a Ti variant.
It may be a +10fps and +10C difference, but I'm considering buying one as it's the only card that isn't getting completely bought up in a nanosecond :/
