I live in Birmingham and United Airlines used to fly direct to EWR - New York but the stopped about 5 years ago. After that as i wanted to go from Birmingham and get back to Birmingham i started to use Aer Lingusthis meant i flew to Dublin then onto the USA. They are a bit more expensive but by the time you add in the petrol to get to Gatwick, Accommodation and parking this work out about the same. The good thing about Dublin is it has Pre Clearance so when you get to the USA you are an American Citizen so no queue except in baggage claim. This is great as i like to do New York for my Birthday weekend and as you can i imagine if you are only there for 3 days you do not want to queue for ages.
We've heard such wonderful things about the pre-clearance in Dublin. I think for us the idea of making connections is still slightly terrifying with the 4 children. Perhaps when Tobias is older, we will be brave enough to give it a try as it definitely looks like a cost saver
Thanks for your comment, and sorry if our reasoning wasn't clear. In the past 5 times I have gone through Orlando International it has taken me a minimum of 90 minutes to clear immigration and collect luggage. In 2022 it took us over 2 hours! And then 40 minutes or so for the transfer so 130 to 170 minutes total based on recent experiences. Tampa took us 45 minutes to clear immigration, baggage and then 90 minutes on the drive so 135 minutes total. I suppose it comes down to where you would rather spend your time. By spending it on the road, the children could have a nap that they can't have waiting in line. We also saved over £2500 on the flight prices compared to MCO so it was definitely the right fit for our group.
What a lovely family. Really enjoyable vlog. Look forward to the next👍
Thank you so much, that is so kind! We're looking forward to sharing our chaos with you too!
Great video guys! We are also a family of six from the UK, absolutely mad about Disney ;) ❤

The 5 Princess Dresses which are of your highest priority whenever you go to Disney or a Princess Party.
Elsa > Anna > Rapunzel > Asha > Aurora
We always let the children choose what costumes to take based on who they're meeting. There's some good ones in the second half of our trip!
So you saved 10 minutes in customs line but spent an hour and a half more on the drive to Orlando?
