True confession: I own 3 sewing machines and two sergers. It happened gradually over the past two decades! One sewing machine is a hand-crank Singer made in 1911.
Johanna, you are not the only person who owns more than one sewing machine and/or serger.

Love your new room. I have my fabric stored in those plastic bin too. I use comic book cardboards I got from Amazon. They are perfect for folding your fabric around and then I am able to store them from front to back in the bin instead of having my fabric piled on top of each other. I use bobby pins to clip the fabric together on the board and keep it from unfolding. This makes for a very neat bin and you can see what you have. I got this idea from another youtuber. Happy sewing in your new room.

I feel fortunate that I have a large space to sew in (bonus room over garage). I call it my sewing lair. I repurposed unused furniture. I still have my Bernina 910 (whopping 7 stitches) and my Bernette 334DS serger). I no longer use the 910--but I likely will never part with it. It is a solid machine and I have so many feet with it.. I have a Bernina 530 (bought on closeout), Jukie Kirei (bought used but wanted for 12" throat space for quilting), and a Juki coverstitch (bought on closeout). I also have a Kenmore Deluxe Rotary (1946) which sews the most beautiful straight stitches ever and 4 other really vintage machines.
And none should own a coverstitch without your excellent book.

I love my coverstitch machine, and I am amazed that I didn't know they existed and neither did my sewing friends. I rehemmed many pairs of pants and long sleeves, and they look professional. The Babylock Celebrate is a serger with tension dials. It's a couple hundred dollars less than the Imagine. I personally prefer the Imagine. I gifted it to my niece a couple of years ago when I purchased the Triumph (combo serger/coverstitch), but regretted not having a standby machine when one of them needs to go for its annual service. So I bought a Babylock Victory (updated version of the Imagine). I currently have 4 machines in my home and not enough room to have them all out at once.

What a beautiful and functional space. One can be so much more productive when things are neat and organized. I have one old sewing machine (White brand) which I bought new in roughly 1984. It is heavy compared to today's lighter-weight plastic type machines, but has served me well. I would love to have a serger at some point but I'm not a spring chicken any more so am having trouble justifying the purchase. My sewing/hobby room has a closet (without doors) so I can store a lot of things in it. Most tubs/boxes etc. are labelled or I couldn't find things quickly. It doesn't look as lovely as yours and my "cutting table" is an island in my kitchen area, so I'm running up and down stairs from time to time (good exercise).

Your sewing space is lovely. I really like the cutting table! And really, can one have too many sewing machines?🤣 I've got three sewing machines, one serger and one cover stitch. 😁

Babylock Gloria is brilliant. Serges and coverstitches. I also have a Babylock Desire. I generally use the Gloria for serging. It has Air threading. I use the Desire for coverstitching but they are interchangeable. I have a Janome 6700 as my main machine. I have an old Janome and an old Imagine as back up. I also have my sewing room kitted out in Ikea stuff.

Hehehe 💕 I love your new space! It’s so wonderful to have a whole new bunch of tidiness 😃
You seem (rightfully) thrilled to death with it 🥰
I have your coverstitch book, its fabulous! I have the Janome 3000 which i’m still struggling with, but your book is really helping.
Edit. A Singer Featherweight. A Brother Innovas 150. A Janome MC8900. Another Brother on semi permanent loan to my daughter. Another Janome on semi permanent loan to my son. 2 overlockers, one of which is currently in disgrace. And my new coverstitch. I need an intervention 😂

The sewing room looks really nice! IKEA is such a boon - affordable storage and it looks nice too. It's a staple in my sewing room too (which I am also working on arranging!). I have about 14 sewing machines that I can remember - some are stored in the closet because I don't use them much but I've had them a long time and I like them. I mostly use my Janome 6700P, my Janome 550E embroidery machine, my Janome Air Thread 2000, and my Janome coverstitch CoverPro 1000. I have a second Husqvarna Jade 35 embroidery machine, a Pfaff 720, a Pfaff Passport 2.0 and a Pfaff Select manual, all nice machines I use sometimes or take with me for travel.

I encourage you to go ahead and get the Janome 3000CPX. Janome have fixed any problems with skipped stitches with this machine, and the top cover stitch works great.

Nice looking room! I have 3 sewing machines. A Singer Fashion Mate 3342 that I bought to see if I’d like the hobby. Then stepped up a little to a Husqvarna Emerald 118. Recently bought myself a Husqvarna Topaz 40 sewing/embroidery combo for my birthday. All 3 are in rotation depending on the project or convenience. There will be a serger in my future, but since this is my hobby and not my career, it’ll have to wait.

That sounds awesome! A serger is certainly nice to have, but good quality machines are a real investment for sure.

Thanks for the tour! I am just starting with organizing my sewing room after changing the apartment, and I am also mostly shopping at IKEA. My cutting table also consists of Kallax (only 2 though) and the offered TORNVIKEN worktop :) But I don't want to drill holes neither in TORNVIKEN worktop (in case it shall be still used as the replacement for the actual TORNVIKEN worktop), nor into Kallax. If anyone has any tips how to reversibly glue the worktop to Kallax, I would be very grateful!

The new studio looks great. I know how it feels to need a magnifier, I can't thread a needle with one these days. I have 2 machines, they are basic machines and quite old but seem to keep going.
I love your skirt, the colour is really nice; is it from a pattern or one that you drafted yourself?

Um, eight machines? I did have nine, but my modern computerized machine went to the dump when it died. I have one mechanical 30 year old serger and a new coverstitch machine. My daily driver is a 1960 Singer 500a. The rest are fully functional antiques and vintage machines from 1902 through the 70s. I'll never spend money on another computerized piece of garbage that might last 10 years, if I'm lucky. I do love your storage systems! I need to work on that.
