    I am a PTR Pro, been playing for over 50 yrs, so I came from the "heavier racquet" eras of the 70s and 80s. The pros definitely use heavier frames, and the Natural Gut/Poly hybrids are IMHO really nice once you get used to it. There is a "FREE POWER" factor with the gut, like the "FREE SPIN" factor of the poly they work well together. I use Head racquets and usually gravitate to the Pro/Tour versions for more stability and plow-through. Back in 2005, I got to hit 2 on 1 with Guillermo Vilas for 2 hrs before dinner (a very strong guy), at a tennis clinic in Vermont...and his Head Liquid Metal Instinct (which I also used at the time), was weighed down with so much lead tape, I couldn't believe it. He said it was 14.5 oz. He has a huge left forearm, like Rod Laver. Can't remember what his string setup was. My most memorable tennis experience, what a nice man.

      Many pros nowadays still use heavier racquet setups, nit there's a lot of the younger next gen guys using racquets lighter and near to retail so "the pros definitely use heavier frames" claim is not completely true.

    Feel like string set up was a bit more of a factor for them than the racquets. Not a lot of love for the hybrid setup. Wonder if they would still pick the Babolat if strings were the same for all 3.

    hello spin tennis friends!!! I really became a fan of your program, very instructive and dynamic, you really do it very well My school query is the 100 hoop racket that you recommend for one-handed backhands? I am a left-handed player from the baseline I am 61 years old .
    I am about to choose the 16x18 prince ats tour 100 since I play with spin what do you think? Thank you very much in advance and keep it up I congratulate you vic .

      @M8rkyM8rk1 Год назад

      Sorry, @TheRob2D...that's incorrect. v10 included both black (2014 without sensor) and red butt caps (2015 with sensor). v11 was the first all black RF97A with the matte paint finish and had Roger Federer's face laser engraved on the inside throat (v11 is even embossed/indicated on the throat side profile of the racquet). I've got all the versions in my collection except for the v12 white tuxedo, which I really don't care for.

    The problem I find with my old Fed k factor and with all heavy 🎾 s is you have to swing very early and anything remotely late is brutal on the body and impossible to control but of course Fed hardly ever hits late. I personally never hit with anyone that should be hitting with any of Feds racquets. 285gm max for 90% out there.

    Novak actually has weight under the bumper too, he's using a 95 sq inch head, that's why he also puts weight to the sides, to increase the twist weight of a smaller head.

    Quick question about stringing, one of my friends wants to get his clash 108 restrung and he tested my clash 100 which was strung at 57lbs on the mains and 55lb on the crosses. He said he likes the feel of the tension. How much do I need to increase the tension to get the strings on his 108sq inch racket to feel the same as my clash 100, thanks

    • @bengray5013
      @bengray5013 Год назад

      It probably won’t feel the same, but I’d suggest if you go midway between the recommended tension range on the racquet and then go from there. It may take some trial and error tinkering.

    • @jamespe925
      @jamespe925 Год назад

      Might seem strange, but a bigger head you'd go less tension. The reason I say this is if you think about guitars and their strings, a Les Paul has a shorter neck which lets the strings bend more, and a Stratocaster has a longer neck, which stiffens the strings and they don't bend as much

    • @bengray5013
      @bengray5013 Год назад +1

      @@jamespe925 except their recommended tension range will automatically be higher, because bigger headsize racquets are automatically more powerful as they have a bigger sweets pot and therefore still require higher tension in order to give control of the extra free power.

    • @jamespe925
      @jamespe925 Год назад

      @@bengray5013 that's right, but he said he liked the feeling of the tension, so that's why I figured going lower on a bigger head size would make sense

    Did you recreate the twistweight and recoil weight as well? That's something that I noticed you don't acknowledge in your videos.
    Static weight, Swingweight, flex, etc it's important but don't forget the other parameters

  • @gppgle
    @gppgle Год назад +1

    Putting Novak's spec on a 100 sq inches that is a different beast - I think, a 95 inches racquet should be a better "carrier" racquet for that heavy spec, definitely not a 100 inches racquet - as it can be too clunky to swing.

  • @rds4629
    @rds4629 10 месяцев назад

    Lot of people commenting w/out watching the video (Harry acknowledges the Djoker frame isn't a 100...) Anyway, while this is editted footage, I thought the guys looked good hitting w/ Nadal's specs. Surprised they say they feel it's heavy especially coach redbeard. If they feel it's too heavy then geez, no way I can use it.
