  • Speech is essential, as it enables a person to express thoughts, ideas, needs, wants, or even to argue any point of view. It is a key factor in creating good relationships between family and friends.

Unfortunately, speech can be affected to a certain degree in the event of a stroke. It may impact a stroke survivor's ability to speak or understand language, depending on the side or area of the brain that is damaged. A stroke can also affect a person's memory and cognition, making day-to-day activities challenging without the ability to communicate.

Speech therapy can help a stroke survivor regain communication and swallowing abilities. A speech therapist will assess each stroke survivor on a case-by-case basis and develop exercise plans tailored to their needs.

Meet our Speech and Language Therapist in this video, Ms. Nurul Najihah Hamizad, who helped our stroke patient to communicate again.
