I didn't expect that much drama and entertainment for a 40 lap exhibition at Indy, but that was thoroughly entertaining. I'm convinced that Little Al in his prime could have won the Indy 500 in a covered wagon, he knew how to get around that track. The performance by Mark Martin just cements his legendary status.
That was when Tony George attempted to use a PEDS barrier to absorb the impact, however it did succeed in protecting Arie when he wrecked. It left a huge mess, so it was ditched. So he went to the university of Nebraska to develop of a a soft wall, that’s when we got the SAFER barrier. If anything good came out of the CART/IRL split, it is the advancements of saftey.
Mark Martin is the man! The classiest, most humbled racer in every class. Retiring in style with his beautiful wife and the most gorgeous Newell Coach. Safest travels Mr & Mrs Martin.

Rumor is that the Brickyard will be replaced by another venue next season. Dismal attendance, and most of the drivers don’t like the track because it was designed and built for open wheel racing. I don’t like the direction NASCAR started taking a decade ago but in all fairness poor attendance isn’t all their fault. All major outdoor sports in the States are seeing fewer and fewer fans in the stands and there’s a clear reason for that and it isn’t ticket prices.
The 2020 Brickyard 400 is scheduled for July 5th. It's the last year of a contract. Nascar and Indianapolis don't have an agreement for 2021 yet. Ironically, the pandemic might keep the race around for another year. It's not clear if the race will be allowed to have fans. Even if it does, the pandemic is a valid excuse for poor attendance.
Watching these cars makes me wonder why Nascar can't make their cars actually resemble the street car they are supposedly based on. These are very clearly Pontiac Trans Ams. Take the stickers off, and they're still clearly trans Ams... Take the stickers off today's Nascar cars and you can't tell a camry from a mustang. And why the fuck is a camry in Nascar anyway lol Toyota doesn't make a V8 rear wheel drive camry.
jaked812812 He had a horse shoe up His rectum that day. That’s about as close to getting killed as it gets. The initial impact was horrendous but when he came back up on the track his driver’s door was missed by milliseconds by another car running wide open.

Wayne Swicegood It would mean anything it there was good racing there but there isn't
Keep in mind Indy seats well over 200,000 so may look like it's only half full yet has more people then any other race.
