  • Trying out something new today in St John's Island. I wanted to test out soft plastics and see how effective they are for grouper fishing in Singapore. I show how to rig up a soft plastic squid on the Jika Rig and it was really effective! Let me know in the comments if you try this rig out too! (Watch till the end for some bloopers!)
    The line I use in this video is a 10lb Berkley Fireline, I use them because it can withstand a longer period fishing around reefs due to the waxy coating which protects against abrasion. You can purchase this line here: epic-fishing.com/
    The snap I used is the DECOY W Snap size 1 and 2, very durable snaps, so far haven't failed on me yet. You can purchase your snaps here:
    epic-fishing.com/
    The leader I use is the Kohaku Daruma Shock Leader 30lbs. Very abrasive and shock resistant due to the stretch that the line gives. You can get the line here: epic-fishing.com/
    For the Evergreen rod, Reels, weights and hooks you can get them here at:

    Impressive. You seem to be a magnet for groupers. My experiences at St John have been quite disappointing in comparison.

      It's actually tough fishing there. In my own honest opinion, mainland is a better place. One trip I could lose up to 15jigs and may use up more than half a roll of my leadeline.
      I go to st john regularly to escape reality and find peace.

    I saw you often use bait casting is it because grouper will immediately sneak into holes when strike and bait casting can pull back faster?

    • @tiotiotiofishing
      @tiotiotiofishing  2 года назад

      actually it does play apart in the receiving end. faster reaction cause your hands are directly thumbing the line. sensitivity is there too! but if you want to receive the impact faster, a shorter rod is good but lose out on leverage. so it depends if you playing near or far out then you decide on which gears to use. mainly baitcaster ill use it for closer combat/ tight quarters

    • @tiotiotiofishing
