I'm a shakehander normally. tried penhold for fun in summer with 802 short pips fore hand and normal on b hand. loved it. the style seems to suit the forehand pip as it feels ur bat angle remains consistent more so than shakehand. also after practice I'm getting much better at reverse backhand. enough to give a game to my opponents and even win a few.

IMO it's the same as serving with inverted. You just have to realize your capability for spin is a little less. Many penholders serve with inverted & twiddle. Or Wang is known for serving with his backhand reverse side (the inverted) from the forehand position which is not an easy serve to execute.... Also I find a high toss can help generate speed into your sponge to get more spin if you're serve with short pips. See He Zhiwen for example.

Why everyone that use penhold born with long and kind of small fingers. As a penhold player who has a bass player finger, I envy them!

Mandarin is not my first language, so it might be a little off. He said that he met the HK player, Wong Chun Ting, and his fingers at the back are further down the bat, so his wrist is more straight - forehand and backhand are the same with straight wrist. Wang Zeng Yi's grip requires him to bent his wrist on the backhand because his fingers are in the middle of the bat.
WCT's looping is different as well, the bat is pointed down, more vertical height/upwards (more hips) then brush to the side to finish.

thank you so much, thats very interesting. it seems to me as if wct's backahnd is spinnier, whereas wzy's is more drivey, but sometimes very fast
