This song is composed in Raga Shivranjani which was originally sang by Great Kishore Kumar . But Ustad ji has created a new feeling where the Rag Shivranjani was clearly come to light. It is so easy for people to comment on one of the most talented tabla players, Anubrato Chatterjee. He is one of the most talented young players and son of the great tabla maestros Anindo Chatterjee. Also, a guy who has spent is entire life playing an instrument and has successfully represented India at numerous international stages is being judged by people who are just sitting and listening to it without even being considered to be on such a stage is funny.
I had a pleasure of seeing him live in Florida some 15 years ago at his prime. Even for someone like me that do not understand Classical music, i knew he was the best there ever was. His range was just unbelievable.
Oh my God, no offense to original song , that is still a legend song, and this sounds so different and beautiful.. It sounds like a new beautiful song on its own .. beautiful
He started off ok then tabla was struggling to catch up lol then he stalled for the lyrics before “tadpat…” and then as soon as he slipped into his comfort zone he reigned like a king! I do appreciate him trying to sing this song as his own and not sounding like Kishore da…that’s commendable

Totally. Ustad had to tone down to match the lower level of skills. It was embarrassing to watch, especially the tabla player who was out of his depth.
Even best classical singers can’t do justice to such songs !! End of day, voice quality makes the difference. One can be technically perfect so gayaki & sound quality leave the mark. That’s why very less classical singers are called for playback

Its really disheartening to see a legend like Ustad Rashid Khan sing like this.. I dont know what might have caused this - probably the sound of tabla was not coming thru the monitors to Ustadji. But that still doesnt explain his getting out of breath. May he get the energy to again be the great singer Indian Classical Music connoisseurs would love to hear 🙏🙏🙏
