Love these bikes. Have a 1997 Honda xr 400 that starts with no problems. Wish it was street legal though.

my xr400r is a 2003 beast only done 2,456 miles when i bought it last year 1 carfull owner used it for going fishing,i cleaned the carb out it was filthy,and changed the air filter ,and oil,first run i ran out of road but she did 146kmh,90mph ,and i know she can do over 120 mph,as ive got that now,but no more than 120mph tbh,of road she is like a tractor going slow ,will go over fallen trees etc,will pull me up all hills,and living in the Highlands of Scotland,i go off road adventure camping,and i mean i go up mountains on my xr on the footpath and animal trails no problem,my first road legal bike was an xl185 honda trail she was awsome too,i have 3 bikes ,one fopr long yourneys ,my bonnie speedmaster,and my 1200 bandit streetfighter,but i love my xr the best as she can give me more freedom,and adrenalin rushesand im in my 50s,my xr is on my chanel if you want to hear it with the aftermarket can on,they still make the xr 400 in brasil btw,best off road bike honda ever made in my opinion,i found your channel,as i look at all xr400 bikes out there,stay free,and dont leave that new petrol in your tank for more than a month else the water seperates from the ethanol,and run your carb dry,befor you switch off and turn the fuel cock off too,stay free.
Ive owned lots of XRs from 75-600cc, but never a 400 or 400R. Love the platform.
Howdy and great vid,..My husband has a '97 XR and loves it to this day. He made some changes over the years,like the HRC power up kit, replaced the carb with a '98 one new from honda.Also electric start from Joe Racing, and White Bros. exhaust,to name a few.
Where did he buy power up kit ?
Howdy and thanks for the reply, I bought it through a local Honda dealer,the kit is long since discontinued,it made the bike a true 400cc.Piston,cam,clutch basket,to make go even faster,sheesh! it pulls hard!

i feel that need haha, when you find a good one it feels like if you dont buy it youll never be able to get one, had it with my dtr125 now i have it with the xr! it will never end
I understand your pain about riding loud bikes around the neighbourhood. I own an xr250 baja with a gpr exhaust, no baffles. I used to use to to commute to my night job & within a week of riding it I had the police waiting for me 😂

I had an xr200 then traded it for a skidoo 583 formula Z and ended up buying a 89 CR250R now Im looking at a enduro that I can mod to do jumps on my track

There not that animal....but very good bikes, enough power and bullet proof tough.
I’m 5’3 and can ride a 97 xr400r and I can stand on one foot it’s not really that tall

Oh yes I mean I wouldn't think it's possible as you can see in the video I'm 188cm or 6'2" and ye a food shorter would have an issue.
He may have different front and rear shocks on it and a different seat which would really help
