- Unboxing and review of the just released Calibre Wings 1/72 scale Diecast F-14B Tomcat from VF-103 the Final Jolly Rogers cruise and an F-14A Tomcat from VF-1 Wolfpack.
Overall outstanding new entrant to the diecast F-14 1/72 Scene, Calibre Wings has come out of the gate swinging for the fences and isn't talking prisoners. Was expecting a lot from these guys and they delivered a solid competitor with few faults.

agreed on the wing pylon as mine wouldn't even sit in at all and 2 of the under fuselage pylons also fit bad.I can also see a lot of people asking for replacement canopy as damn I was sweating getting it off and on.The detail finish is the best I've seen on a diecast plane but the fit issues on their F14's and F16's isn't good for the price we have to pay
They should use magnets for pylons, missles and landing gear.

Century wings does that. Not all fit correctly.

Man I was hoping to see the first model the jolly Rodgers final cruise . I just bought that model and was wanting to see it and you never pulled it out of the box. :(
08:52 The Aardvarks USS Kitty Hawk 001618 could be so beautiful, but I find the bacon pig paint glitter off-putting. Don't even know if it's realistic. Even if it is, I don't like it.
09:55 The older Century #630215 BLACK KNIGHTS is absolutely fantastic. I finally managed to catch one on the web. Used and boxed from another Century Tomcat, but very good condition. Very good gaps, cockpit closes tight with no gaps and most importantly, rear rudder and elevator symmetrical. Unfortunately not a matter of course for Century.
One of the best Century models.
The CA721402 is not the most accurate built by Calibre, but still a must have cat. I was looking for 2 years. And finally found one. Also used, with box. But in very good condition. Symmetries and gaps excellent, except for the cockpit. Paintwork magnificent. Original certificate, but without serial number.... or in other words: number 0, namely the model of Noel Lee himself!!! Yepp, exactly the Mr Lee... the one and only tomcat whisperer ;-)
On the VF-1, why did they give us Phoenix pylons but no missiles?

I want to buy F-14 Wolfpack, but I can not decide, I can not compare them, so I see only a photo on ebay, please tell me
Personally I think Calibre is the top dog at the moment, but Hobby Master and Century Wings are very good too...I have alot of them all...but still am really high in Calibre at the moment!

are all the missiles on the wing pylons removable/exchangeable? I want to be able to do all three loadouts: 1 sidewinder+1 phoenix, 1 sidewinder+ 1 sparrow, 1 sidewinder+ 1 sidewinder. Do they include enough missiles for all the 3 different configuration?
Mx N there are multiple configurations and pylon arrangements on some models, I am not sure if they are all configurable.

Just wondering man, if the tails on these are also diecast metal, being both the horizontal and vertical fins, as a lot of other manufacturers cheap out and opt for plastic, and i want to find a true all metal F-14, thanks in advance
Russel Coight the tails and elevons(?) are Metal. This is an extremely premium offering
Apologies if you mentioned it, but can the wing position on the Calibre models be adjusted or are they stuck in a permanent fixed position like most of the Century Wing models?
Hi Tony, the wings and horizontal stabilizers are fully movable...and on the A models the Glove Vanes are also able to be displayed in the extended or retracted position.
What’s better, caliber or century?I don’t understand..
I like them both, but I believe the Calibre is currently a better finished model...and now Calibre also is doing models with a weathered look which ups the game a little more.

Jack Ryan, why were people dissatisfied with the 10th Anniversary VF-84 Tomcat?
xTomcatsForeverVF84x all of the people I have talked to as well as myself felt like the attempt at weathering was not up to par...obviously weathering is not a uniform occurrence, but the overall attempt by CW looks more like a top coat that produced a light grey hue over the entire aircraft. It is too uniform and while the attempt is appreciated the end result is short of realism. It looks rushed... real weathering is multiple colors multiple patterns and unbalanced...out isnt just 1 coat of light gray over the entire aircraft or straight down the panel lines...i think the idea was there...but overall the execution was just not great, it looked hurried.
Is it just me or do you think the quality of CW has changed over the years?
xTomcatsForeverVF84x yes when i compare the current models to their earlier ones, in my opinion there is a drop in quality.
I got a really good f14 scale model on amazon for like 30 something dollars
