  • The redesigned VW Jetta is bigger and better than every which allows it to truly compete with the top compact cars like Civic and Corolla. The 2019 and 2020 VW Jetta offer a lot of space, practicality, features, and overall value at each trim level. This Volkswagen Jetta is the top SEL Premium Jetta and is loaded with more features than I'd expect for this class. Leave your thoughts about the new Jetta below!

    Is this Jetta good enough to compete with the top sellers in the class? Or even better than those?
    Let me know which compact car you would pick!
    *Thanks for watching and have a great day!*

      Yes,but it has to be the GLI. The Canadian version of GLI 35th anniv has better features than the American one

    Congratulations to you and your wife on the new baby! My daughter recently purchased a 2019 Jetta SEL Premium. She was sold on the exterior/interior styling, the technology, safety features, better than advertised fuel efficiency, and the 6 yr / 72k mile warranty. Excellent review here, and on the previous Jetta review, as always. Thank you.

    I think the Jetta is competent. It offers features like ventilated front seats that are still rare in the class. It seems like it’s a good commuter car with conservative styling that won’t garner unwanted attention. I’d say mid pack of its class because some of the competition is starting to get more sporty whereas the Jetta is content with being a comfortable commuter.

    The handsome look of this car still draws me in. I'm also liking the color. Not really a fan of the wheels, but I guess they could grow on me. I wouldn't mistake this car for excitement, but it's definitely easy to live with, financially and otherwise.

    First off, a BIG congratulations on your baby! You’ll be a great dad! The Jetta is average IMO. It’s a roomy, well equipped car, but it doesn’t bring anything exciting to the table. It’s almost like the Buick of the compact class... something about the look just doesn’t do it for me. I’d buy one over say a Cruze, but I’d put my money on a Mazda 3 or a Corolla XSE over this.

      Don't buy that car!!! It's absolutely horrible. It only looks cool from the outside that's it. Wait until we get it with AWD, Hybrid drive train and the new infotainment system. Right now the new Ch-R is a dog, don't get it. Anything but that.

    Hi Nolan, I see the Jetta has a defeat button for the auto stop start next to the shifter...Question, when you press it to the off position does it stay off after shutting the car and restarting it or must you press it every time you get in and re-start the car if you want it to not stop ?

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  4 года назад +1

      Good eye, I should have mentioned that. It defaults to being on every time you re-start the car so you’ve gotta always push the button, sadly

    Hi.
    Congrats on the new 👶 Baby.
    I thought this was an honest review. OK I like the Jetta, but......i don't like the front Grille, it too stacky. And frankly boring. I did like the back-end the lights were exciting. The truck held a lot. And the review was very exciting. The console was busy and interesting. I liked the console , . Hay I would like it if the sunroof screen should be have ambient lighting. That would be hot. I know that it wasn't the GLE, but I think this trim was for an old guy holding on to youth. When you were in Sport I wanted to hear bobbles. Again GLE.
    OK Great Review.all the best Shaun of NYC

    I right now have a white base Jetta as a rental. It’s not much. It’s okay for the price, but unimpressive overall. The Golf feels MUCH better in all respects.
    Cons: Hard, cheap plastic all over, poor fabric on the seats and very few features. The headlamps don’t shine far at all, though where they do hit, it’s very bright. A single USB for the entire car is not enough for 2019. It idles a bit high (1200rpm). Road noise is really high, mostly from the tires. The suspension is unsettled and brakes are too much at low speeds/city driving. Interior panels are hard plastic and don’t fit too well.
    Pros: The exterior is nice and clean, blind spot warning and forward collision assist, a large back seat, a large trunk, a great base infotainment system and the front seat bottom cushions are long. The engine is actually pretty peppy once you push it a little and the transmission is smooth enough. Auto start-stop is smooth. Long distance comfort is good. Doors, switches and handles feel solid. Steering is pretty composed.

    With the demise of the Beetle and the decision to drop the Golf (retaining the GTI and Golf R for now) from its lineup in the US, VW is putting a lot of their eggs in the Jetta basket. It's in a highly competitive segment. Personally, I find the Euro flavored minimalist design of the Jetta appealing. And for those with young families, the roomy back seat is a major plus compared to the competition. Of course there will be complaints from internet fan boys that the engine should be larger and more powerful but VW is aiming the Jetta at consumers for whom that 40 mpg promise on the window sticker is a high priority. Students and ex-students drowning in school loan debt should take note. And for those who do want more performance can get it in the GLI.
    From my perspective there are a couple of negatives, though. The absence of rear seat AC vents is a big deal, especially since they're not even offered on the GLI. My big dog's second home is the back seat of my GTI and though he'd suffer in silence after a run in the park, I wouldn't subject him to any vehicle without vents back there. Further, I find it disappointing that the Jetta is fitted with an eight speed conventional automatic rather than VW's DSG. (The GLI does offer the DSG.) That's apparently a concession to Americans' preference for a conventional automatic rather than an "automated manual" (i.e. dual clutch) transmission. I find the DSG in my GTI to be one of its best traits.

      I missed this comment! Great point in the engine power and efficiency...it’s perfect for this class and the efficiency is great. Plus that turbo comes through nice and early to give it a good boost.
      I’m 100% with you in the a/c vents. It’s a shame. I’m sure your dog appreciates the vents lol, they make a big difference. Thanks as always for stopping by sir!

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  4 года назад +1

      Hard to say since this is a newly redesigned generation. Consumer reports gives it a “below average” predicted reliability, for what its worth. On the plus side it has a long warranty

    • @Mr20001
      @Mr20001 2 года назад

      @@PrimeAutotainment I wouldn’t rely on any “predicted” reliability rating. Predictions aren’t always accurate. I’ve always heard that the Jetta is a relatively reliable vehicle 😊

  • @canadianplanespotter
    @canadianplanespotter 4 года назад +4

    The Jetta will never be a contender in my opinion. It just doesn't do anything better than the competition. It's got plain styling, it's slow, and it's junk under the hood especially with the TSI variant. I would NEVER consider a Volkswagen product, so that's my take as a consumer. Great review!
