She said that IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY TO SEND BLACKS TO COLLEGE! I will Never forget this! Only because my parents INSISTED that we all went to college, I asked around until I found A teacher who would sign it. I had to make up an excuse as to why I didn't get my home room teacher's permission as I was supposed to do. Imagine if I had followed my teacher's advice?? I wouldn't have 2 masters degrees and would not have been accepted into doctoral school...would never have owned my own business, would never have traveled to different countries, but GOD IS GOOD, and I will continue to do whatever I can to uplift my fellow man, who may not have had support from parents nor teachers.

I was attending university, hoping to complete my master degree in one year as I was expecting my son that same year. I applied for my comprehensive exam a whole 4 months ahead of the time...even before the start of the last semester. The exam is usually given 10 weeks in advance of the due date and students are expected to submit a draft to their supervisor who will read, comment and so on and then return to the students for final touches. Well, when all my classmates were getting their exams I did not. I wrote to the dean at least 5 times and he never did anything. Finally I wrote again,and maybe the tone of my email gave the response. His wicked excuse was that he did not know I wanted to complete the exam. When I referred him back to the dates of all the previous email, he became defensive and then finally released my exam. Guess what? He gave me my exam the week before it was due...matter of fact, he released it the Tuesday before the monday it would be due, so technically it is not even a week. His comments were that I will not be eligible to submit a draft for proofreading and that I cannot get any help from anyone on the matter. Oh well, God was on my side because i was working on the project ahead of time. Even better for me my son came the Saturday, just two days before the comprehensive exam should have been turned in. I got out of the hospital and send them proof of birth and all that and then they decided to give me an additional three weeks. I spent the first week nursing stitches and just been of no use to myself. The next two weeks I forego all sleep and even while nursing the baby I had one hand holding him and the other hand typing. Funny thing, my supervisor, happened to be best friend with the dean, told me that he had forgotten that I was to be working with him to complete the comprehensive exam. Yet every email I sent the dean was copies to him. SMH. The night when I was to submit my work, I read it about 4 or 5 times before submitting it. Immediately after I submitted the work my computer crashed😄😃😀. But all fun aside, I think they did what they did because they never expected the only black woman, the only Jamaican, pregnant and all, should be able to complete their master program in just one year! These people will have their own day at the Bar of God. They will not get away with their wickedness, matters not how long it takes, they will have to face the consequences one day for their prejudices.

The student was asked to leave, but chose not to. At that point, she's considered to be "trespassing", which is unlawful. She should have grabbed her things, and went straight to the Chancellor's Office, if she truly believed the professor was wrong. She would have had a lot more credibility, and sympathy from White people; as it stands, it appears she believed the rules applied to everyone else, just not her, and that's what the professor may have felt...

They actually did, after their classmate was removed. They got on her for what she had done, calling it unnecessary and uncivil on HER part. She got upset, cancelled the rest the class, and left the room. There is a NYTimes article out today, which discusses the incident and the aftermath.

I'm a student at the school. This girl told the school she did not feel race was a factor in being escorted out of class. Two separate investigations were conducted and the findings supported the professor. She WILL be back next semester. Nothing to see here folks. But let's be honest, race WAS a factor. It emboldens people like this when they're not held accountable. I was quite disappointed at the statement the school sent out because everyone knew what it was all about.
I was accused of stealing a laptop in a NYC library. Seven cops came out to detain me. After they looked at videos of me in the library, and found out that I didn't steal the laptop, all I got was "Sorry. Enjoy your holiday." And it was a white woman who called the cops on me. She never apologized; only the police officers.

The library was full! When two of the police officers approached my table where I was using a laptop I had checked out at the library, I thought that they made a mistake. But, he didn't laugh. He told me that this was a serious matter, so I went with them to the customer service desk where the other five police officers were standing staring at me, and he told me that they got a call from the head librarian that I was in the middle of stealing a laptop and that I had stolen one last Friday. I was in shock! I said sir, I am not a thief. She clearly has the wrong person, but she insisted that it was me. I was indeed in the library that last Friday and I indeed checked out a laptop, but never in my life would I steal it! They had a specialist come in and check the videos of me in the library on that Friday and the day I was accused. They absolutely found nothing on me...nothing! If you only knew how angry I was. Not only should they be brought up on charges, as I have said before there should be an I.D.I.O.T. Tax Individuals Doing Innocent Ordinary Things having the police called on them. Depending on how ridiculous the call the more the tax should be. Also the tax should include how much time law enforcement wasted to respond to the call. The real situation...the feet on the seat incident happened on a Friday. The admonished student complied with the professor's request and was told not to return to class for 2 days;the instructor considers this type of behavior uncivil. The following Monday, the student returned to class, and was asked to leave. The student asked to stay, the professor refused, then subsequently called police to make the student leave. After the student left, without incident, the rest of the class got on the professor for her actions. Because of this, the professor cancelled the rest of the class and left the room. This is according to a NYTimes article concerning the investigation regarding the situation. It may or may not have been racially motivated, but the college has had similar previous issues regarding this same professor and how she manages her class, and after the class spoke out against her, the decision was made to put her on leave. Furthermore, none of the students in the class felt the incident was racially motivated. They feel the professor may be overly strict as to what is "uncivil behavior" in a classroom. The majority of this professor's colleagues also feel she is too rigid in this regard.

The Emperor’s New Clothes I’m going to be attacked over this, but when I’m in “stadium style seating” eg, auditoriums, theaters, stadiums, even on a jet plane, I get annoyed when people put their feet/shoes on top of the back of my seat or the seat beside me. I always think to myself, geese, wtf. About three months ago I was sitting on a train and the guy in front of me who’s sitting in front of me (facing me) had his legs crossed (not the wide cross but the narrow cross, like most women use) I was thinking, great, by crossing his legs in front of me it created even less room than there already was. I ignored it, but sure enough, when he eventually uncrossed his legs, he rubbed the bottom of his shoes against my pressed slacks. He apologized when it happened (wiping his shoe on my slacks) but he was oblivious to the fact that he shouldn’t have had his legs crossed to begin with in front of me, while facing me when there was so little room. Why can’t people PLANT THEIR FEET ON THE GROUND WHERE THEY BELONG ? That way, no one has to wonder if it’s racial. I doubt that teacher was being racial, I’m sure she asked or told that student to put her feet down and the problems started when the student refused to do as her professor asked. It’s understandable some teachers might not want the students to wipe their dirty shoes on top of the furniture/desks/seats. This panel is full of crap. Fire the teacher? How about expel the student ? And I know, my thumb pic might pass for white, but I half Puerto Rican and my sons don’t pass for white, they are black. The student is paying for that education and has the right to attend each class session as long as her behavior isn't threatening or disruptive. She sounds like a frustrated and unhappy woman.
So if there is a rule against propping your feet on the furniture, or seats, and she does it anyway, and will not take her feet down when the professor requests it, what is the professor supposed to do? If she just lets it go, she is saying to the students that "if you do not follow the rules nothing will be done about it". You do not get to break the rules just because you're black.

The student was asked to leave, but chose not to. At that point, she's considered to be "trespassing", which is unlawful. She should have grabbed her things, and went straight to the Chancellor's Office, if she truly believed the professor was wrong. I'm a student at the school. This girl told the school she did not feel race was a factor in being escorted out of class. Two separate investigations were conducted and the findings supported the professor. She WILL be back next semester. Nothing to see here folks. But let's be honest, race WAS a factor. It emboldens people like this when they're not held accountable. I was quite disappointed at the statement the school sent out because everyone knew what it was all about.

After they looked at videos of me in the library, and found out that I didn't steal the laptop, all I got was "Sorry. Enjoy your holiday." And it was a white woman who called the cops on me. She never apologized; only the police officers.

I was in shock! I said sir, I am not a thief. She clearly has the wrong person, but she insisted that it was me. I was indeed in the library that last Friday and I indeed checked out a laptop, but never in my life would I steal it! They had a specialist come in and check the videos of me in the library on that Friday and the day I was accused. They absolutely found nothing on me...nothing! If you only knew how angry I was. Barb YNW Melly , I feel your comment especially about Martin, but the 🐇 🕳 goes deeper than you think. Martin was a distraction to the black community. He was a Free Mason (free from slavery). That speaks volume don’t need to go into that. Malcolm was about violence. Malcom always let his left hand know what his right hand was going to do. He would have been killed eventually. In San Francisco , California the city are implementing a law to stop or prevent people from misusing 911 and other emergency services . The person who does this will be fine or spend time in jail or both. Maybe the U.S.A should follow this same example . Because this female professor is a fool for calling the campus police on her female student for a non emergency at school 😒. Truly Mr.Cottrell . The city of San Francisco is trying to do something this year 2020 !!

The police was just doing their job they was told she was out if control once they found out otherwise she was released and the teacher fired

The real situation...the feet on the seat incident happened on a Friday. The admonished student complied with the professor's request and was told not to return to class for 2 days;the instructor considers this type of behavior uncivil. The following Monday, the student returned to class, and was asked to leave. The student asked to stay, the professor refused, then subsequently called police to make the student leave. After the student left, without incident, the rest of the class got on the professor for her actions. Because of this, the professor cancelled the rest of the class and left the room. This is according to a NYTimes article concerning the investigation regarding the situation. It may or may not have been racially motivated, but the college has had similar previous issues regarding this same professor and how she manages her class, and after the class spoke out against her, the decision was made to put her on leave.
Furthermore, none of the students in the class felt the incident was racially motivated. They feel the professor may be overly strict as to what is "uncivil behavior" in a classroom. The majority of this professor's colleagues also feel she is too rigid in this regard.

I’m going to be attacked over this, but when I’m in “stadium style seating” eg, auditoriums, theaters, stadiums, even on a jet plane, I get annoyed when people put their feet/shoes on top of the back of my seat or the seat beside me. I always think to myself, geese, wtf.
About three months ago I was sitting on a train and the guy in front of me who’s sitting in front of me (facing me) had his legs crossed (not the wide cross but the narrow cross, like most women use) I was thinking, great, by crossing his legs in front of me it created even less room than there already was.
I ignored it, but sure enough, when he eventually uncrossed his legs, he rubbed the bottom of his shoes against my pressed slacks.
He apologized when it happened (wiping his shoe on my slacks) but he was oblivious to the fact that he shouldn’t have had his legs crossed to begin with in front of me, while facing me when there was so little room.
Why can’t people PLANT THEIR FEET ON THE GROUND WHERE THEY BELONG ? That way, no one has to wonder if it’s racial.
I doubt that teacher was being racial, I’m sure she asked or told that student to put her feet down and the problems started when the student refused to do as her professor asked. It’s understandable some teachers might not want the students to wipe their dirty shoes on top of the furniture/desks/seats.

And I know, my thumb pic might pass for white, but I half Puerto Rican and my sons don’t pass for white, they are black. My family is very divers and I don’t care what color anybody is, if I found out my kids were giving their teacher any trouble, lip, or attitude because the professor wanted them to put their feet down, wasting that whole classroom’s time, wasting the teacher’s time, wasting the police’s time, my sons would have me to answer to, and I’d be wasting their time when it’s playtime. 😝
1) Thanks for all of the information. 2) What kind of professor instructs a student to miss two class periods? The student is paying for that education and has the right to attend each class session as long as her behavior isn't threatening or disruptive. She sounds like a frustrated and unhappy woman.
So if there is a rule against propping your feet on the furniture, or seats, and she does it anyway, and will not take her feet down when the professor requests it, what is the professor supposed to do? If she just lets it go, she is saying to the students that "if you do not follow the rules nothing will be done about it". You do not get to break the rules just because you're black.
Sounds like the teacher was jealous because that girl is more beautiful than her without even trying. 😂
