This Pogchamps, while less hyped, had some great chess and some really REALLY great chess moments, specially Mr. Beast's win over Lud with a flipping ROOK sacrifice.

The most “Ludwig thing” Ludwig could do… Stalemate.
5:08 I dont get how 5up "almsot stalemated" there. He's putting the king in check. On the next move the king can only go to d1, and then queen g1 is gg, no?
Since the king would be in check each move, sure. However, two queens vs king reminds me of the stalemate Ludwig got with two queens vs king.
The queen on g3 controls the g file, f2 and e1. So if 5upp move his other queen to h2, white could stealmate just by moving the king to f1.

@@dimensionalblade2778 After kd1 there’s no legal move its just stalemate. Yeah the king can go to g1 but white wants a draw.
@@IGNacho56 qh2 kf1 is not stalemate because it’s black to move. Black can then play qg1 checkmate.
5:10 wasn’t stalemate because it’s with check, why is Andrea and Danny freaking out

My guess is that those are the eternalised moments (Pog4 had Eternal(dot)gg as one of its sponsors)
They said Pogchapms is disrespecting chess, but this tournament is a fine example how to peek interest in new players. Minx was obnoxious and BM, but everyone else truly invested on this event and deserve all credit for making chess more visible to the crowds on their platforms.

Wasn’t a great tournament. I loved the previous Pogchamps. I didn’t like the split screens and the constant cutting away from the analysis board. It’s hard enough following one board sometimes.
Not sure what it was lacking. Here’s hoping for a better Pogchamps5.
