Nike “budget” hoop shoes are updated like all running shoes typically are. Midsole/outsole the same(or very small changes) and upper update mostly. Guess for signature lines, ppl want update to looks and tech especially for some of these crazy prices
When Sammy are reviewing the renew elevate 3 he said he didn't buy the renew elevate 2 because it is similar to the renew elevate 1..... And now he buys the giannis imortality 2 which basically similar to the imortality 1
I ended up tearing the first layer of material on my immortality 1s but tbf they are a budget shoe and I’ve had them for nearly a year, but overall great shoe if your on a budget
Imo it’s not the same shoe. They put a fuse layer over the toe box and it looks like the outsole rubber covers the big toe a bit more. They also put some wings in the mid foot area lacing for better support/containment. The rear of the shoe looks a bit more sturdy especially with the top lace loops being more pronounced. I think he could have discussed this more but it’s a first look/impressions video hopefully a performance review goes deeper on this. The giant outrigger is a nice touch. So for an extra $5 Nike makes marked improvements in support and durability. Sammie laughs at the forefoot channel carve out on the outsole but then praises the forefoot cushioning for having a nice bounce back. The first thing I thought of when I saw that was it should allow the foam to compress a bit more and allow the minimal cushioning to punch above its weight. While the 1’s were decidedly a kids shoe (which is fine), the 2’s look to have improved support such that teenagers and lighter adults could use it as a nice summer budget outdoor shoe. Off the top of my head it has the best outsole for hard court surface in the Nike basketball lineup. A cushioned low profile orthotic could be of great benefit here.

Just copped these a few hours ago. I got the off white colorways. I went up from 11.5 to 12 vs my 11.5 Kyrie Flytrap 5 which caused me to hyper extend my plantar (heel) during a game. Which Nike socks + Shock Dr ankle braces, I feel secure and my heel isn't sliding all over the place
I haven't seen the video, but Imma tell you. The Giannis Immortality has terrible durability on the sides of the shoe (thin material, no lateral containment) and since it has a good stop, your feet stops but still moves/forces the thin material to the sides cause it isn't strong enough to hold your foot inside the shoe. And after some time it starts to break up, and the inner side/part of the shoe also starts to rip off because of the material. It was my first basketball shoe, amazing one btw, but no durability (material durability, not traction durability)
I'm just watching this cuz I own the immortality ones and the immortality ones material is really weak(my shoe teared twice) and I heard they changed it so I'm looking forward to purchase this
