The first game in a win streak that led to Super Bowl 36! That was such a magical and unexpected run. They were expected to finish dead last in the AFC East.
By this time the stunned , shocked Bledsoe, the 100 million dollar superstar QB, must have finally been thinking : " Oh my....I' m really not ever going to get my starting QB job back."
This game was the last chance Tom Brady had to prove himself that he was better than Bledsoe. Bledsoe came back the week before and after that it was all history.. 🙌🏼
Just think, Brady is the only one on that roster still playing 20 years later and still getting rings. I would have laughed at you if you said in 01’ he will have went to 10 Super Bowls and won 7 by 2021.
He already knew it was over. When the doctors finally approved him to play he called Belichick to give him the news. He was expecting to hear, "Hey, that's wonderful! Come to the office after practice and we'll go over the new plays," etc., etc. Instead, he heard, "oh. That's nice." And he went home and started swearing, because he knew Brady had taken over the team. He was always gracious in public, but he was furious about it. But let's face it. Bledsoe was a very good quarterback. Three times all pro, etc. But he wasn't Brady.
@AGZ Brady outplayed him but being Unbiased Neither Qbs were the important factor in that Game it was Mostly thanks to the Defense picking off Kordell 3 times and The Special Teams with Troy Brown returning a Punt for a TD along with the Lateral to Antwon Harris on the Blocked Field goal attempt
Bledsoe sucked. He had some good years early on in his career, but was awful from 2000 on. He started out hot in Buffalo and went back to form after about 8 games or so.
Always forget that they were in the same division as the Colts... CN you imagine if Manning and Brady player eachother 2 times a year and fought for the division title?
Bill Polian, the GM of the Colts, and the man who selected Manning over Ryan Leaf, has since claimed that his scouts warned him that Brady might turn out to be as good as Manning. He said that rookie quarterback contracts were constructed in such a way that he couldn't afford Manning and Brady. (I'm quoting what he said, not what I believe). Because otherwise he would have grabbed Brady in an early round, had him sit behind Manning for a year or so, showed him off just enough to let other teams see what he was capable of, then traded him off to someone in the NFC so he didn't bump into Peyton every year. Considering how few scouts and coaches saw anything in Brady, I don't totally accept what Polian said. But everyone is allowed to consider what Brady might have done to the NFC.
Nice to be reminded how great a player Troy Brown was.

First game brady played after being named the permanent starter
They waited like 7 games to name him the permanent starter?

As always Brady stole the show.
11:55 Bledsoe knows its over
Can only imagine how torn up he was inside at that moment.
Finally. Yup.

Damn Troy Brown should have been NE MVP in 2001
“Today is Tom Brady day in N.E.” Uhhh…Everyday was Tom Brady day in N.E. For a couple of decades.
This was the beginning of what ended up being a 12 game winning streak for the Pats.
Damn, that was a pretty nasty Saint backfield with Ricky Williams and Deuce McCallister in the same backfield
I think every single player on both teams is retired. Well except Tom Brady. HAHA!
T-Giving that year was at it’s earliest possible date.

They did for that opening year or two. Brady and the Pats dominated.

@@nancypine9952 Well we just saw what Brady did in the NFC this past season
New England will never be the same!
And to think, all of this was made possible because of an injury to Drew Bledsoe in week 2...
Is no one else wondering where Brees is at?
He was backing up Doug Flutie in San Diego.
@@classicsports5057 I totally forgot that he was drafted to the Chargers
