Super classic beauty of old and young. Full marks, to Nagai Muralidharan sir and vaidyanathan sir. Bharat Sundar nd Guruprasad came up very well to match the seniors. Thani was very pleasing. 👌🌹💐
Bharat's Thodi alapana sounded a bit different(but nice!) from a regular thodi alapana to my untrained ear. I'm not technically competent enough to articulate the difference, though! Any observations/comments, please?
Because he brought the Sindhu Bhairavi-esque plain Ga and Ni... In many of CMI Senior episodes, he insists that they remain plain, atleast to show variety instead of anchoring and oscillating in Ga and Ni... Thodi of a different person like GNB, BMK or Sanjay would be totally different from Bharat's for this reason. Plain notes were also referred to as "Nadaswaram Thodi"
While rendering raga aalaapanaa having the krithi in the mind's background will guide in the correct course More saahitya manappaadam, more raaga gnaanam. For the same raga, alapana varies depending upon the krithi that one is going to sing.
Violin overshadowing Bharat’s voice most of the time because nagai sir playing the Kristi’s along with the singing. Pakka vadyam has to necessarily give follow up support and it Would have brought Bharat’s singing to better light. Not to find fault with the great nagai sir.
Bharat's pacing/phrasing and that of the accompanying violinist, VId. Nagai are totally mismatched, even though they are both individually stellar performers. Unfortunate! There was no sowkiyam to be had... And that's what Saint Tyagaraja would have been most disappointed with...

The comments made at first is absolutely irrelevant. It appears the first comment made whoever it may be is appears to be doesn't know about the carnatic music.

First of all a good concert by B.sundar and accompanists. needless to tell it, all are professionals, But one thing. i want a clarification on sitting of muscians on stage. From some years it has been followed. I dont know who started it. some body are following it,some body are following in another pattern which was vogue since so many decades. My feeling is ,is it comfortable for muscians then the previous pattern. For audiance it makes no difference i feel. Why this change is occuring in carnatic music dias. I personally feel the previous pattern was conveneint to main artist to communicate with violinist muscically wirhout turning his or her neck. In the new pattern the violinist can not conveniently communicate muscically with main artist. i humbly request views from audience and muscians also if they want to express.
@@srividyalakshmirexactly, these days artistes are trying to personalize concerts, which is a way that carnatic music progresses. nothing wrong with it
I never heard a concert with an opener like Vazhi Maraithirukkuthe! Poor choice. Next, 15 minute Alapana doesn't fit well with a concert less than 2+ hours long. And when I heard the song 'Karthikeya', I started wondering if this is Thyagaraja Festival or Thai Poosam , instead! And finally, I wouldn't recommend dignified accompaniment like Nagai Muralidharan for this young man.
1. what's wrong with an opener like vazhi marai? it forges new ideas for youngsters that there's no ultimate concert paddhati to be followed. Also the placement of the alapana is totally fine, there is literally no reason that some components need to be placed in specific orders. this is probably how vid. Bharat envisioned this concert to move forward. I think it's brave to not open with a varnam/Ganesha stuti. 2. Ultimately this is an exchange of musical ideas, there is no mandate to sing only tyagaraja kritis. even other artistes did sing non-tyagaraja kritis. Kartikeya gangeya is perfectly fine. 3. Please stop belittling upcoming artistes like this. If vid. Nagai has accepted to accompany vid. Bharat, i don't know what problem you have with that. It's honestly very rude and disrespectful to the main artist. don't spread such hate, please. I can accept all your opinions except the last one, that's plain rude.
Vid Bharat sundar is a well established carnatic musician getting prime slots in music academy for many years now and also in other sabhas. He is young but not new nor a starter to get such comments. All young musicians are modern , educated and created and committed to their art whole heartedly.surely they don't deserve such comments.
As long as it is music to my ears, I hear! Irrespective of the language, lyrics, structure, artist etc etc. These artists are just amazing. Way to go ❤❤

I think it was TMK who started😊this.ofcourse it depends on the individual artist however..especially these days concerts😮
