Lisa-X has played with a rotating cast of characters. Hazuki is a regular. The craziest one is Billy Sheehan, who recorded at least one track with Lisa-X. She is the real deal, and it just remains to be seen how they manage things with Koiai. Hazuki isn't leaving Nemophila, so she'll just be very busy. Sato-san (Kanade Sato), their new drummer, also has mulitple other gigs including being a member of Muses--another band that you have to check out, it will take you down the Japanese jazz/fusion/funk rabbit hole, and lead you to insane talents like Juna Serita, Rie, and eventually Senri.

Thank you supporting Lisa and Koiai. A little background information to add to what’s been said. Koiai had their first India tour last February (2023). Great documentary video on that. For the tour, Lisa was supported by Hazuki, their current lead vocalist Kotono, Kanade on drums (now official member) and her brother on bass. They held their first concert in Japan a few months ago with their second concert scheduled in early March 2024. For those two concerts the bass player was and will be Wakazaemon. Love the energy Wakazaemon brings. They released two shorter CDs over the past few months. Both CDs were around 5-6 songs, but I need to grab mine to confirm. There are some harder tracks on the albums, but generally tend to be more pop/rock oriented mixed with guitar shredding.

Rina was an amazing singer, she left the Li-sa-X band, so Li-sa-x and Hazuki were joined by a new singer called Kotono to form KOIAI, and they have now a new drummer.

Rina was the singer for the Lisa X band, but she left the band, and they formed a new band named Koiai with Hazuki and Lisa X with Kotono as the new vocalist.

I recommand LiSA-X's Satriani cover "Satch Boogie" with fantastic drummer Yoyoka - you'll love it! About the "effortless" part: she made a video about her progression from the age of ... 3 untill now and there has actually been A LOT of work and effort of course 😉

If you liked Rina here, try the Li-Sa-X Band song Looking Up To You. Her voice will blow your mind on that one. Sadly she isn't with them anymore.

Great suggestion, that song actually has a Toto-style breakdown in the middle section as well.

Hazuki wrote this fantastic song. Rina is a phenomenal singer. All the Lisa-x band songs are great. Try Looking Up to You (mv). The Koiai songs are more poppy and not nearly as good

Li-sa-X was already a rockstar when her peers were still watching Sesame Street. The only thing that I am slightly worried about is that Hazuki might not be able to stay too long with KOIAI because NEMOPHILA has gained so much popularity that it is already playing the larger arenas in Japan. We all remember what happened to Saki when she had to choose between NEMO and Mary's Blood, right?

    • @overtheedge4711
      @overtheedge4711 7 месяцев назад +1

Well, I kind of think that maybe Saki was coming to terms with the fact that Mary's Blood had been at it for a long time and was probably never going to get any bigger than they were. I think she saw a chance to go big and took it. She had already tried with Amahiru I don't think she had to choose, she just wanted to.
Then again, Hazuki is never going to be the star in Koiai that she has the potential to be in Nemo, so who knows. I would guess it depends on what her goals are.

I’ll try this from memory, peeps can fill in gaps…
LisaX started guitar by age 5. By age 8 her RacerX covers(speed/shred) were award winning on yourTub and she’d adopted the stage name. RacerX guitarist (also of MrBig, who are huge in japan) Paul Gilbert publicly offered her free lessons. By age 11 she was signed to Sony for her prog/fusion instrumentals. Her career was slowed tho by continuing to attend regularly scheduled/paced schooling. After an EP and a full length, she used 3/5s of Disqualia to back her live shows (Prior she’d played to tracks, tho some high profile gigs, sponsoring credit cards, Toyota, endorsed by Ibanez, MarkAmps, guesting on pop songs, playing fashion shows, touring with Polyphia, featured at NAMM multiple times, jamming with greats like Kiko Loureiro, Bumblefoot, Mateus Asato, Marty Friedman, & Guthrie Govan).
Hazuki (from Disquaia, Rami, LisaX Band, later Nemophila & Koiai, endorsed by Ibanez) joined & then introduced/recruited singer Rina (absolutely superior singer imho, good English lyricist too). But over LisaX’s high school years they only released 4 songs (2 by Hazuki, 1 by LisaX, & 1 by Disqualia’s Narumi, more on her another time). Other instruments were programmed by the producer, except on Narumi-penned One More Chance Is Enough, which has Shane Gaalaas on drums and Billy Sheehan (MrBig, davidLeeRoth, Mike Portnoy/bumblefoot/ritchieKotzen, etc) on bass.
When Rina, who brought a very mature contemporary sound, exited the project, LisaX was set to graduate, looking to do something more youthful, poppy, fun, found Kotono, singing dancer from IronBunny (& BabyMetal “avenger” iirc), and the project was named Koiai. Pronounced “Co E ahh E”, it has multiple meanings; primarily a color (navy blue, concentrated blue, “indigo”, nearly purple/violet), but also connotations of love, maybe more meanings (I think Hazuki even called it, or something about it, a dad joke?)
Here’s LisaX’s review of her career

About to turn 19, Koiai just had their debut show (footage in that Laney ad you saw.). Before that they’d toured India (partial thanks to Guthrie Govan’s influence). LisaX, Hazuki, Kotono; with her younger brother on bass, Kanade Sato on drums (prodigy turned pro, just became full Koiai member the past few weeks, look for her other work), Dad as chaperone & stage manager. Now the bass spot is covered by Wakazaemon, pink haired lefty from East of Eden, Marty Friedman Band, and much more.
My fav vids are the 4 LisaX Band ones, but there are some from her prior album Will, and some from Koiai. Definitely looking forward to more! Enjoy 🤘🎸💃😎

@@ericifune5543 which pronunciation ? Ko as in co-op. i as in letter E.(from English alphabet). A as in say ahhh. i as in letter E again.
The “Ai” is almost as letter i. But not , and def not letter A at the end 😉
LisaX did say it clearly in the Laney vid.

@@ericifune5543 I see. Slightly, yes. But good rule of thumb for beginners is one beat per vowel. And he’s primarily having trouble remembering what the last vowel is in the first place, thought a different visualization might help him 😉
He took “Gotcha Rick” to heart. Still only “close” pronunciation-wise, but big help memorization-wise 🤘

They just got an official drummer Kinade. No official bassist yet. Kotono is their vocalist. She was once in Ironbunny. If you like 80's style rock and metal with a Japanese flare, Ironbunny was great. Twenty-three 23 would be a great place to start.

I was just watching Ironbunny with Yuki from D-Drive/East of Eden a few minutes ago. They (he?) had some great songs. Still wondering what happened to that band--they showed so much promise and those girls sounded so great harmonizing. Then disappeared seemingly overnight....Didn't one of the girls go on to Babymetal too?

@@overtheedge4711 Koton was in Babymetal as a backing dancer after Yui left. Kotono may have been a replacement for Yui, but went to Ironbunny instead. Ironbunny did several of those Shred Racers live stream during the pandemic and Kotono was even learning to play guitar. Then one of the other three singers left Ironbunny for health reasons. They just couldn't make it through the pandemic. Although they tried. I think they had something special going on and I had high hopes for them. We still don't who the bunny was and probably never will, as he went back to the future.

@@ramair3judge Yeah, I remember speculating it was Paul Gilbert for a while. They have a similar playing style, plus all those American guests on the early videos were people that ran in his circle during the 80s and 90s. I guess Ironbunny is just another of those Japanese coulda/shoulda beens, like Telecide, Brats, Mary's Blood and sadly Hagane, who I am starting to give up hope on. The second guitarist and drummer could have been replaced by any number of ladies (or guys for that matter) without much turmoil, but Uyu made the band stand out.
