Well not always, you may break ribs doing CPR on elderly but kids and mid age people will still have flexible ribs therefore it is really hard to break them
My former sister-in-law is a doctor. She had a fellow go into cardiac arrest right in her office, and performed cpr on him. She said she felt badly for breaking his ribs. I said that's okay, you saved his life. She said, "oh no, he died".

The way her husband tended to her near the end and after the baby was born got me good. They both look so deeply thankful after that hellride of a birth.
Regarding the Birth of Baby Boy..I've done that, and she's right it's amazing!! 💖 💖 Only I delivered a set of twins on a ferry in the middle of Lake Ontario heading to the Trauma Hospital in Labor and Delivery Ward. Both boys were absolutely beautiful and fine, and each weighed in just over 6 pounds each. Delivered my neighbors daughter in the back seat of their car, and just about had to deliver one in an elevator going to Labor and Delivery while I was a patient at the hospital for Pancreatitis. Life as a Paramedic was never dull. You never knew what each shift would bring, but those are just a couple of "HAPPY" memories of my time. I'm now recently retired, and while I miss the adrenaline that you would get with each call, my body said it was time for me to stop after 35 years of service. Best Regards and Stay Safe Everyone!! From a Former Paramedic in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦
For any Americans in the comments, please keep in mind that the ambulances are paid for by the NHS, NOT the patients/their insurance. We can have thousands upon thousands of ambulances here in the US, but if people can't afford them then what's the point? It's a very different system than it is here in the states, with its own pros and cons.
I'm in America and when I receive a bill for an ambulance ride it goes in the trash. My mom in her final days got an ambulance ride from the hospital to her assisted living and they wanted $1800 for a 7 mile drive. Bills like that? Shoot, I don't stress about it because no sane person would pay that. People wouldn't pay $300 for a loaf of bread so why would they stress over a ridiculous hospital bill?
Jo Mac I mean, I’d rather my tax money go toward healthcare than military spending 🤷♀️ We’re already paying taxes my friend, they just don’t go back into our communities.
Although I'm sure they will be able to focus their attention on covid patients with people not being out at bars starting fights and being drunk and injuring themselves
This was really hard for me to watch. In 2015 I went into cardiac arrest. I left work and went to emergency feeling really weak like I was going to pass out. Somehow amazingly they got me back. The small town hospital called my husband to come to the hospital; they told him I was in an ambulance going to the city and to get family asap, their words to my husband was the situation was not good . The pulse they got back was only 28 and I wasn't breathing. The trauma unit Drs. said I shouldn't have survived. I will never forget waking up on life support wondering what the hell happened. I was one of the lucky one's that day. I am so glad Terrence survived.
The amount of respect I have for emergency responders is immeasurable. I would not be able to handle half of what they go through on a daily basis. True heroes.
Listening to Moris speak about his cat and being alone, but also being kind to the paramedic was so heartbreaking. Human beings so depend on others and being social to survive, not one of us should be alone. But in such a big word it is inevitable I suppose. He seems like such a nice man, I hope he can find someone to connect with.

I couldn't help but start crying seeing her baby completely healthy, it felt so cathartic, going trough so much pain to finally have your child on your arms, absolutely beautiful.
That is pretty extreme. I've heard of stories of people being in freezing cold and being dead for an hour and being brought back. They always say you have a chance if your body is super cold but this guy was in normal temperatures and was gone for almost a half hour!!
I busted out crying when the baby finally came out! Yipee! Everybody did their best to do a good job! I cried for the mum, the baby and the paramedic who helped deliver (and SHE had her own baby with birth defects from lack of oxygen!) I'm watching her being so calm and I'm crying for them all! THIS was a delivery to remember! AND i see in the prolog, that the ambulance service treated 2861 patients in two 12-hour shifts! MY LORD! YOU ARE hard workers and very much appreciated! I like how your service operates in the U.K. Over here in the U.S. you pay separate for each ambulance: it runs between $450 and up in price. Services of any kind run very high too in the ER. (When i saw the mum and daughter get a ride to the hospital, i said to myself "Well, that'll cost you $450!" Little did i know it was already covered by NHS). Good show!
My son was born on my bathroom floor because my labour was so, so fast. I thought I'd have little bath before going to the hospital and didn't realize just how much it would dull the pain. I got out of the tub after 20 minutes and he was coming. I should have known better. My first baby was an easy 4 hours from first twinge to finish so I should have figured he'd be in a hurry. The paramedics were so nice to me.

Delivering a baby at home or in the ambulance on way to hospital is both exhilarating and terrifying as a paramedic. I’ve delivered 5 & helped stall delivery of 4 more until we got them to the hospital to resolve a complication such as breech or cord around the neck. However the funniest was we wheeled her screaming into the ER & a student dr went to check how far along she was (I told them baby was coming NOW) and the lady pushed one last time at that moment...and the baby slid out right into the hands of this very young, male student! He looked utterly shocked & dumbfounded. Nurses had to take the baby & move the student dr out of the way. 😂 Turned out that was the first birth he had ever seen & it kinda all happened at once right into his hands. To be fair...he did catch & cradle the baby in his hands...then he froze. He is a brilliant OBGYN now who has delivered hundreds of babies. I think I witnessed the moment he chose that as his specialty. But I’ll never forget the look on his face. 😂 Shock, awe, fear...all at once.
The mother pushing out her son!! Bless her heart. I’m so sorry for her loss. And my heart goes out to the rescue worker. When ur child hurts is heartbreaking. I lost my daughter. This was a rough episode. A suicide. That's so sad. Sorry to hear about Jessica and I could feel the paramedic's fear that this mom would have as similar birth experience. Seeing her joy at a healthy baby and mom okay was very emotional.
I just want to say thank you, I'm in uS and I like your content. I'm disabled. The health care there what they can do puts us to shame. I've had many hours in hospitals, ambulances, not knocking mine there, the guys that I see all to much is great. But hospitals here don't have the gases and other alternative to pain care now. Getting a ROSC in the field is extremely rare. ROSC stands for Return Of Spontaneous Circulation. Usually the ones I saw was when they were already admitted to the hospital. I’ve seen so many cardiac arrests but very rarely have I seen a ROSC
That first call ..... The Wife... The Crew... The Dispatchers/Call taker... 26 min down and they got him back Was Totally AMAZING !!! The Code was Run Perfectly.. From An American Paramedic 👍👍👍 All of you Are ROCKSTARs !!!
holy crap... this shit got me bawling my eyes out! but on the real I have tons of respect for these women and men who have to deal with death and sadness for their career
The brunette controller with the black glasses and a bun, I’m sorry that I don’t recall her name, is an absolute boss. She seems like she absolutely knows what going on at all times, as well as thinking three steps ahead! The situation with Morris crushed me. Did I understand that he’d only recently lost his parents? Poor guy. When the baby was born at the end and was crying immediately, I bawled! After such a sad loss with the loss of their last child at birth.
Congratulations to the new parents !!! I was really hoping that this little guy was going to come into this world just as loud as he could be. I hope you all have a wonderful life together.
I've been in a fair few ambulances, refractory epilepsy, and none have been as nice as these. The crews go above and beyond to offer as much as they can.
I grped with joy when bayby was born snd he screamed. I pushed and i prayed to God that mom and baby had to make it💕 happy ending For some amazing people that we met at work in this😘 series🙏
At first i thought the first man, Terry, had just gone into cardiac arrest when the lady called emergency services but 26 minutes? Holy shit! Good work on the EMS people for getting a pulse back. The chances of that are so low.
I really sympathize with these older people who just want to die. My husband and I have little family and really no one to help us. We are both in our sixties and we wonder how it will be as we get too old to manage. Being elders and alone is very scary. We live in the US.
My heart goes out to you ! I’m alone as well hun ! No one calls or visits or even text nothing ! My two kids are in there 40s and say we busy Mum ! Thankful I was never to busy for my Mum until she passed in 2018 ! just seeing how relieved she was at the end of it all and the love she showed when she took him into her arms made me cry. i have never had a child myself and i wanted to push with her. i wanted to hug her.
It’s a pretty emotionally overwhelming experience to bring life into the and to witness it. I’ve had three children who are now grown. I still get emotional thinking about it!
Nicole Jessica I highly doubt that and please don’t beat yourself up about it. Things happen but I bet you never did that again and tell everyone not to. I have wondered that for every patient I lost.
gosh that delivery looked so painful but every one was so calm even the mother although she was in pain was listening to the medics. bravo to all the mums out there you guys are awesome.
28:00 What a kind soul Morris is noticing how tired the EMS worker is and asking about his day. Meanwhile, he must be in so much pain. I feel bad for him for being so alone with only his cat. Why is our world so cruel?
I did - and was exhausted along with her when he was born - LOL! 😁 It was beautiful! I cried. That paramedic was so proud of herself. I had to lol because her partner was like, meh... lol... more seasoned - you can tell!
@@sunnyblueskies6505 I think it was also the fact that one of her babies was stuck in the birth canal or something happened in her uterus, I forget, and it resulted in severe brain damage for her daughter- and the mum that day had had a stillborn baby in her last pregnancy. So that paramedic knew what was at stake if they didn’t get that baby out. To see it come out and immediately start crying his fool head off must have been so emotional and exhilarating for her. What a wonderful lady.
I love the composition of this video. At the end with the mixed emotions with the passing of the elderly who drowned and at the same time with the new life that is given to a baby boy. GOdbless everyone.
I'm humbled by the medic's kindness. I really feel for the people that have no family, they appear to be so vulnerable. God bless the NHS - best in the world.
When you get your job done in helping others in emergency cases , patients smile is d ultimate prize... I love how d husband being there for his wife in labor and sees its not easy giving birth...A cute blessing 🙏💖💖
My husband who was only 43, died of a heart attack. I found him in the bedroom. I didn't know long it had been since it happened, but his body was still warm. Paramedics worked on him for about 20 minutes, but couldn't bring him back.
Poor Morris, he’s all alone and only has his cat to share his life with and he’s only 62 😢 bless his heart he looks about 92 also unfortunately because of how frail he is as well. I do hope that he has been able to have a happier and less lonely life in the years since this was filmed. 🥺💕💕 Ps- congratulations to Younella and her family on the little baby boy!!!!!! 💙
as a retired paramedic the differences are huge. I was shocked when he was not intubated, one of the very first things I would have to do is secure the airway as my basic EMT's and FD would do compressions. even if we had a Spontaneous Return of Circulation I could always sedate them if they fought the tube.
Im an EMT and nowadays we dont even do CPR that much anymore we have LUCAS devices which do CPR for us while we can work on other things like IVs or intubation
@@gryphon8023 they experimented with LUCAS for a bit and some criticsl care trucks had them..typically we will grab a FD member for compressions. i can't tell you how many times I laid on my belly tubing the unresponsive pulselesss patient
But if you think about it doing compressions is still circulating oxygenated blood through the system. No, it isn’t ideal by any means because eventually it’s not oxygenated but the priority is ROSC… I’ve been a paramedic for 17 years and a Navy corpsman for 25 before that and now looking back I would have given my left arm for a Lucas or Autopulse… we still don’t use them here😮
This happened on mothers day , may of 2020. My dad died of cardiac arrest at 5am . Due to he was an alcoholic and had depression so he was taking drugs to. He overdosed on drugs and alcohol. That made him have a heart attack. We have been missing him since. Just watching this triggers my sadness. Of that day. ❤❤💔💔😭😭😭

Though I'm way too old now, the birth of the baby made me want to have another. I remember the pain with joy, knowing that I was soon going to hold my baby (or babies, in the case of my twins!!) I miss being pregnant. I loved it.
Thank-you to the mom and dad for allowing us all to share that moment with them. The fear she must have felt afraid of it all going wrong again,,just beautiful and great color on the baby!❤

Getting a ROSC in the field is extremely rare. ROSC stands for Return Of Spontaneous Circulation. Usually the ones I saw was when they were already admitted to the hospital. I’ve seen so many cardiac arrests but very rarely have I seen a ROSC
Thanks, for explaining that acronym.
When I heard that baby cry LET ME TELL YOU I CRIIIEEDDDDD!!! The Mom did amazing and bless the paramedics!!
And to think i drove my self to the ER with a heart attack i couldnt even feel had surgery and still here today.
That's a big Baby! Poor woman! Bless her Heart!
That first call ..... The Wife...
The Crew...
The Dispatchers/Call taker...
26 min down and they got him back Was Totally AMAZING !!!
The Code was Run Perfectly..
From An American Paramedic 👍👍👍
All of you Are ROCKSTARs !!!
holy crap... this shit got me bawling my eyes out! but on the real I have tons of respect for these women and men who have to deal with death and sadness for their career
Congrats to new mum. And to paramedics for being there and assisting. Yahooooo! From Canada 🇨🇦
Got tears, bless their heart, all of them.
I notice how very nice they are to their patients....I wish we could all could treat each other like this
Rest In Peace to the 88 year old that drove his mobility scooter into a pond.
So sad.
My his Soul rest in peace
I'm so sad for him. But it sounded like that's what he wanted. I can't imagine the pain he was in to have made that decision. I hope he is in peace.
Oh my cod.. he is in a better place... batter him than me
Went out on his own terms. I can respect that.
I've been in a fair few ambulances, refractory epilepsy, and none have been as nice as these. The crews go above and beyond to offer as much as they can.
Watching a woman give birth while being 36 weeks pregnant is a great way to cry 😭 so beautiful
I grped with joy when bayby was born snd he screamed. I pushed and i prayed to God that mom and baby had to make it💕 happy ending
For some amazing people that we met at work in this😘 series🙏
I’m 62 and so many health problems and again tonight sitting alone thinking I’m thankful I’m a child of Gods so I’m not alone he is with me always ❤️🙏🏻
@@MargaretHill65_ I'm glad you have your faith to keep you warm.
Godbless you both! I hope you're both safe with this pandemic. ❤️
@@Jenanluv Thank you. the same to you. We have been masking since before it was suggested, my husband is taking chemo and I have an immuno disorder, so we have to be careful. We may keep masking even beyond the pandemic as we have not had a single sniffle in a year and a half. I don't know about the rest of you all, but we hate getting sick. We are so used to it now we really don't mind it.
@@lideabarker8161 aww. I'm running out of English vocabularies, don't know what to say anymore.
when the head starts peeping out im here like push push push and shaking my fists like you can do it then when i heard the baby cry im like YES!
just seeing how relieved she was at the end of it all and the love she showed when she took him into her arms made me cry.
i have never had a child myself and i wanted to push with her. i wanted to hug her.
It’s a pretty emotionally overwhelming experience to bring life into the and to witness it. I’ve had three children who are now grown. I still get emotional thinking about it!
Anyone who pulls in front of or walks in front of an ambulance should have to ride with them for one shift😷
Or made to watch vids of what they see and deal with, drunk n drugged drivers also.
Ann Rankin they would get in the way and complain
Nicole Jessica I highly doubt that and please don’t beat yourself up about it. Things happen but I bet you never did that again and tell everyone not to. I have wondered that for every patient I lost.
@Nicole Jessica they didn't go astound you?
Yes
Oooweee..the lady in labor. That was pretty intense! Nice healthy little baby it looks like. Well done everybody.
gosh that delivery looked so painful but every one was so calm even the mother although she was in pain was listening to the medics. bravo to all the mums out there you guys are awesome.
That must have been one Hell of a show on the telly. At least they got him to hospital straight away. Cheers!
I wish and I hope that every country has the same ambulance with complete emergency equipment like that.
I agree with you. This is totally unheard of in India! Especially in a small remote part of the country.😭
28:00 What a kind soul Morris is noticing how tired the EMS worker is and asking about his day. Meanwhile, he must be in so much pain. I feel bad for him for being so alone with only his cat. Why is our world so cruel?
As a mom of four , I found myself wanting to push with her and for her.
Me too lol.
I did - and was exhausted along with her when he was born - LOL! 😁 It was beautiful! I cried. That paramedic was so proud of herself. I had to lol because her partner was like, meh... lol... more seasoned - you can tell!
*Me as well!once you’ve given birth you can’t help it!*
As a mom of 2, I was just thinking how glad I am that I had C sections. They were great experiences ♥️
The look on the face of the paramedic who caught baby 👦 boy 👦, amazing. Congratulations, to mother and paramedic. Beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
I love the composition of this video. At the end with the mixed emotions with the passing of the elderly who drowned and at the same time with the new life that is given to a baby boy. GOdbless everyone.
This episode made me cry so hard. Natalie was so chuffed to deliver that baby!
All the ambulance personal are so kind and caring. I love watching the ones with Ben and Sofia and Helen and Julie
I'm humbled by the medic's kindness. I really feel for the people that have no family, they appear to be so vulnerable. God bless the NHS - best in the world.
I celebrated out loud when that beautiful baby boy was born, I was so happy!
Wow these paramedics are absolutely amazing
My heart is aching for this Mom.
I hope she & her baby will be fine🙏🙌🏽🙏
When you get your job done in helping others in emergency cases , patients smile is d ultimate prize...
I love how d husband being there for his wife in labor and sees its not easy giving birth...A cute blessing 🙏💖💖
My husband who was only 43, died of a heart attack. I found him in the bedroom. I didn't know long it had been since it happened, but his body was still warm. Paramedics worked on him for about 20 minutes, but couldn't bring him back.
;__; When that elderly gentleman said he didn't have anyone but a cat I was like "I'll take care of you!!!!!!"
Tell new mama she did GREAT!!!! I was even here, in OHIO USA, trying my dampest to HELP you push! You did good mama!!!
I love this program!
Poor Morris, he’s all alone and only has his cat to share his life with and he’s only 62 😢 bless his heart he looks about 92 also unfortunately because of how frail he is as well. I do hope that he has been able to have a happier and less lonely life in the years since this was filmed. 🥺💕💕
Ps- congratulations to Younella and her family on the little baby boy!!!!!! 💙
Terrence being worked on by paramedics with a paramedic show on tv in the background. Surreal.
These first responders are amazing!
Giving a newborn to the mother is ❤ One of biggest happiness in this EMT job. 🤗
Paramedic: "I've got a pulse..."
Me: 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Incredibly insensitive.
as a retired paramedic the differences are huge.
@@gryphon8023 they experimented with LUCAS for a bit and some criticsl care trucks had them..typically we will grab a FD member for compressions. i can't tell you how many times I laid on my belly tubing the unresponsive pulselesss patient
surprised too. possibly different protocols?
But if you think about it doing compressions is still circulating oxygenated blood through the system. No, it isn’t ideal by any means because eventually it’s not oxygenated but the priority is ROSC… I’ve been a paramedic for 17 years and a Navy corpsman for 25 before that and now looking back I would have given my left arm for a Lucas or Autopulse… we still don’t use them here😮
These people are heroes
i recently refreshed my CPR knowledge, so im good to go
I cried when she delivered her bby😭🥺
This happened on mothers day , may of 2020. My dad died of cardiac arrest at 5am . Due to he was an alcoholic and had depression so he was taking drugs to. He overdosed on drugs and alcohol. That made him have a heart attack. We have been missing him since. Just watching this triggers my sadness. Of that day. ❤❤💔💔😭😭😭
Praying for your family...I hope you and your family will be able to find peace in Christ
May he rest in peace.
Well done crews. Delivery of the baby. Excellent.
This episode was a Circle of life saneiro... Heartbreaking for the 88 yr old man - and rooting for the mother and baby boy in split seconds Time....Fabulous jobs done by all the paramedics involved in video...
I wish the USA had compactionet medics ,nurses,& Doctors like you do
Mad respects for how polite they are T^T, I'm crying my eyes out
Great series, wonderful, gifted clinicians. As A sidelight, I just noticed that their ambulances are all standard shift.
With life comes death, and with death comes new life.
id be so pumped with fear and adrenaline and omg i dont know how they can do that without wanting to throw up. god bless them for doing they best they can do everyday and fighting to keep people safe as possible.
I cry EVERYTIME with live births. Does anyone else???
You are all fabulous!! GREAT job!! Bless you all! ♥️☮️
I have watched other paramedic and emergency programmes. I appreciate them all, each is unique. This series though has found a way to go really deep. Sad. Happy. Horrified. Deeply moving episode
Stumbled upon this video and i am very thankful to all paramedics, hospital staff who had painstakingly help patients. More so when we are faced with this sickening disgusting covid 19 virus. Kudos to all frontlines globally. Highest salute to each of them.
I can’t believe that female emergency technician got in the ambulance and started spraying perfume. Guess she skipped that chapter in her education manual. 🧐🧐🧐🧐
What a relief for mom and baby! Well done crew! 🥰
I this is my 3rd video and I am addicted!!!!!! Love this show so much!!!!
