Just incase those of you who don't know there is a whole comic book series that goes with the album, read that then listen to the album and it all becomes clear.

@@parfner666 youtube has both albums up. As far as the concept someone told me its about a antihero named zero. That's as much as I've gotten about it.
Norrin Radd I did read it, I think it was intresting and had great artwork backing it up.
As I understood the storyline is something about the main caracter going in to his own mind defeating his demons. He has to get to the house of Gold And Bones. Black John, Allen and Peckinpah are all caracters. Peckinpah is a helper, Allen in some kind of mostly evil entity, and Black John is a leader of a horde of mad people, chasing after the main caracter.
Tbh I read it quite a while ago, also english is not my first language so I didn't understood everything completely.
But as I said, the comic was intresting and entertaining.

Stone Sour is just getting better and better, album after album. One of my favorite bands, for sure.

Part 1 plays directly into Part 2. It's an amazing story- I'd fully recommend buying both physical CDs and reading the story that comes with each. Makes the music a lot more meaningful.

I just love the old fashioned animated look! It's so different and unusual, I completely forgot about it. Corey has always made videos that make a statement, not always the easiest task!!!!!!!!!
If you like the old school animation, then you should check out Slash's video for his song Bad Rain! The song is a good one if you like him, and even if you don't and like this kind of video it's still worth the watch because its an awesome old school style out there video that is one that shouldn't really be watched by kids either!
I saw this when it first cane out, I wasn't very happy. But after reading the booklets that come with the albums, everything makes sense. From the characters to the things they do, I now love the video.
the fact ttha this pretty much sums up the entire story behind both parts of the house of gold and bones series AND concludes it continues to blow my mind. even the way the very last song of the second album and the very first song in part one end and start with the same note, simulating the endless loop the story is. incredible.

On the album, Blue Smoke, Do Me a Favor and The Conflagration are all kinda 1 song. As Corey has said many times, this is the end of the story/book
Here is what's happening:
"The Human"/Zero is the man that is in the chuch at the beginning. "Allen" is the Priest. "Do Me A Favor" is Allen's last attempt to get Zero to come to his side. Peckinpah is the zombie killer. Black John is the Zombie in the Chair. The zombies are the conflagration.

If anyone was wondering, the words on the chair at the altar is Latin. It translates to English as "The House of Gold and Bones", the album name.
He is an artist in the true meaning of the word.

The man in the jumpsuit is "The Human" who is the protagonist of the story. The older man is Peckinpaw and the priest is Allen.Part 2 reveals that the House of Gold and Bones is actually inside The Human's mind and that Peck and Allen are actually representations of his conflicting sides.Allen is his dark side who carries around the abuse and everything that he experienced in his life and wants to bring him down, while Peck is the side of him who has still has hope, so it's an internal conflict.
Reminds me of the church in Pink Floyd's The Wall. Empty Spaces. Anybody also notice the carnival rides in the background? I think there is a ferris wheel. There are other ones too. The glowing eyes of the Numbers reminds me of synchronous fireflies.

pretty sure the guy battling the zombies at the start was Allen, and the dude chasing him in the chair is John. Judging from Corey's interview of the song "Black John". So incredibly excited for the new record :)

Allen as the Reverend, Peckinpah as the guy fighting the Reverend, the 486 and black John beating down the doors, while the building goes up in flames (the conflagration) Allen might have killed Peckinpah but he also burnt them all alive by setting it ablaze

That line is actually chorus taken from their song "A Rumor of Skin" from House of Gold & Bones Part 1, which story continues with Part 2. So these records have connection with each other including sometimes same melodies, riffs or whatever. For example this or Absolute Zero/The House of Gold & Bones.

No way, im just saying that they are the best contemporary rock bands, its just my opinion, old school rock is the best by far.
From what I've gleaned in the comments, Peckinpah is the guy in the suit giving the zombies the smackdown, Allen is the priest, Black John is the guy in the chair , and this song is Allen's last attempt to get Zero to join him.

Don't feel bad. I was listening to stone sour long before I knew it was stone sour. I didn't know till I heard say you'll haunt me on the radio and recognized the voice and looked them up.
I just read the inner sleeves of House of Gold & Bones parts 1 & 2. If you read it, this video makes perfect sense. This is essentially the final couple of paragraphs of the story as he struggles for the altar that reads "House of Gold & Bones"

It's got nothing to do with Borderlands. It's part of the story of the comic book that went along with the two albums. Hence, it looks like a comic book...

Watched the video again after reading this comment, the first time I figured it out it was The Human ..and Black john/numbers and that was it. The 2nd viewing made me realise how clever and amazing it is...It makes me really excited for the 2nd album and to read the rest of the story. I love how that The Human is connected to Pekinpah and Allen.

The conflagration
It's the finale of the story that the double concept album is written about. Basically it takes place in the subconcious of a man during a near-death experience, the main characters being representations of various parts of his personality. He's finally arrived at "the house of gold and bones", the priest is Allen, the representation of his selfish, arrogant side, the bearded guy is Peckinpah, the good side.
Basically these sides are having a final face-of, while the main character ("the human") struggles to escape from his dream/coma/whatever by reaching the chair and burning alive in it. But because the battle is between various sides of his personality, he gets hurt when one of the two sides hurts the other, as they're actually both him.
Meanwhile, Black John and his "numbers"(zombie-things) are catching up with him, Black John is also actually part of the human, I'm not sure exactly what he represents, seems to be some savage fear and aggression that's constantly haunting him, but I'm not sure.
There's also some flashbacks to what messed the main character up so badly, namely what seems to be an abusive step-dad figure when he was a small child. This happened in 1982, and you can see a gravestone somewhere of how is innocence or something along those lines died that year.
Eventually, he burns alive in his dream and comes back to live/wakes up, the battle in his subconscious having been resolved and being more at peace with himself, and stronger for it.
At least, that's what I gathered from the story. I'm sure a bunch of it is open to interpretation.

The "Zombie king" is peckihpah.
The preist is Black John and the bearded man is RU486 and the last one is Allen. If you read the little grey and black book that came with Part 1 has a story that tells some of what is happening the rest is in the music.
I recommend buying the physical copy of HoGaB Pt. 1. It includes an 8 page booklet that explains the story of Pt. 1 and the characters in it. Also, when you have both Pt. 1 and 2, you can build a house with the two combined. There's a video of it on the website of House of Gold and Bones. Stone Sour is creating more than just music with this album.
