I served this at a brunch at a breakfast i had for my husbands Gideon brothers, i saved all the juices from the fruit ,even the cherries, added it to orange juice it was a beautiful color, everyone wanted to know what was in the juice. They loved it.
I first made this (I halved the recipe) four days ago on Saturday. Then, I made the other half on Sunday, the day AFter Saturday. Now, I am making another half-recipe at this very moment. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!! Omgosh, and it's even better the longer it sits out (the day you make it, like on the stove or counter), or the next day straight from the fridge. HOLY MOLY it is delicious!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
I first had this over 40 years ago. A friend always made this as a side with ham at Easter. It was delicious and smelled so good. I can’t wait to try this again. This recipe brought back so many wonderful memories for me. Thank you.
I agree with serving it with sausage gravy and biscuits. I like to use the hot breakfast sausage when I make gravy and the sweet fruit with the spicy gravy would be a great combination.
You sealed the deal with the butter. I am going to make this for my mom she’s 86 yrs old and always want peaches fried with brown sugar this will give her a nice fruity compote and she can have it with anything !!!! Waffles French Toast anything 🙏bravo
We really do like this recipe. We tend to make it more in the fall of the year, but I don't know why. It would be great all year long. Thank you so much for joining us at the table. Enjoy the hot curried fruit.
When I first saw this video. I knew instantly that I would absolutely love it. My only tweaks were that since I don't like maraschino cherries, I substituted dark morello cherries in light syrup, drained and added1tsp of Garam Masala which I truly love and goes so well with fruit. I like having just a good size bowl of this all by itself. It sounds strange but honestly is very delicious. I hope a lot of people give it a try.
Make a white gravy and mix 1 and 1/2 teaspoons curry powder with the flour. Pour it over French fries! Please try this and make a video so we can see what you think. It is a very common dish here in Scotland - fries and curry sauce!
Tom, & Melissa, can't wait to try this recipe! Three questions: 1- Was that salted or unsalted butter? 2- Can it be frozen? 3- Would walnuts go well in this? Thank you both so much for sharing your recipes, & I love your Christian approach. God bless.
I kept a jar of cherries in the frig for when I needed them. I would go to use them and they were gone. My hubby loved them so they would be gone. He never told me he had eaten them. What a pill
Just like mom made. Question for you mom had a glass cookie jar filled with fruit, and I know she put Vodka or some other liquor in it. (What was the name) she'd put some on her ice cream in a bowl.
Uh, oh... YOU said the P word! Peaches! I only know of curry being spicy hot. One day I was visiting with a friend (ex-girlfriend) with her husband (at the time), also a friend of mine, at her parents house. Her younger sisters husband, from India, made curry. It was basically rice but it was spicy hot. I'd taken a taste, knowing I don't like anything spicy hot. (Mild is ok.) I ended up telling them I didn't want anymore.

Thank you and Melissa for EVERYTHING ❤❤❤❤
Wow my mouth is literally salivating I will be adding this one to my must make. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE curry powder. Sprinkle on my chicken salad. Just a little pinch. And in soups…… 1 teaspoon would be a lot.
It’s such a great addition to this recipe. We love the taste and flavor it adds.

I live alone, so I would have it FOR dinner.😊 BTW, I put a little curry powder in my chicken salad and it gives it a nice flavor.
I first made this for my dad over 30 years ago as a heart healthy dessert. Over time, I misplaced the recipe but THIS IS IT! Absolutely delicious!!
We are so happy to hear that you have found and enjoyed this video. Any chance you are related to our dear friend, Pat?
It would also be delicious over a nice slice of pound cake.

It's similar to our hot fruit compote. We crumble Mother's brand coconut cookies over the top. It's a major hit as side dish.
oh my...my daughter in law will love this..
Tom and Melissa. A beautiful dish. I found a few years ago the curry spice in curry chicken and has become one of my favorite spice!! Enjoy!!
I agree. It's a really nice spice. We love fruit prepared like this. We appreciate that you watched our channel.

Add a scoop of ice cream on top, and desert is served!! ❤❤❤ Blessings to you!
That looks awesome! I think I’ll make it as a side for Thanksgiving!
My beautiful mother-in-law made this every Easter with the baked ham.
I make a very similar dish and I add mandarin oranges and a can of dark sweet cherries which is my favorite.
So Awesome!!!
Can’t wait to make this!
I will make this, but first I am making the pumpkin pie!❤😊God Bless you both🙏🇺🇸

Looks delicious. Does the juice get thicker as it cools?
Yes, it does. It doesn't congeal but it will thicken.
Thanks
This reminds me of a Chutney
Looks good
Maybe cause it’s a Saturday morning, (fun breakfast day) I’m thinking this in smaller chunks over oatmeal.
Mmmmmm! That sounds very delicious to me!
YUM!

If memory serves, I believe the fruits steeped in liquor (usually rum or vodka) in the lidded glass container was called Rumtopf.

I got it!
YES! I'm sorry about the glitch the first time I tried to link it. I think I have it corrected now!
Use cranberries or dried cherries instead of the jarred cherries.
Does he need to use fingers n hands ln food😮
He’s making it for his family and I’m sure his hands are clean. Every good cook uses their hands. You can’t cut anything without your hands.
