For sure. Especially if they are worried about becoming addicted but still want to have something for the pain if it becomes unbearable. And oxys aren't as strong as he is claiming they are.
I fractured my sternum two months ago. The most painful injury ever. My doctor told me to take Tylenol. No pain medication was even brought up. Maybe because of these people who doctor shop for pain meds???
I had a bad ankle break in 2013. I had morphine at the hospital, then oxy and percocet at home. I was aware of the addiction issues so I stopped as soon as I could. Sounds like they’ve cracked down on pain meds.
I know those that have never dealt with chronic pain can’t understand. Imagine the kind of pain that is with your every move, all day long, from sun up to sun down, all through the night, the pain that wakes you up IF it let you sleep to begin with. The kind of pain that stops you when you try to clean house. It forces you to leave dishes in the sink, floors unswept, dust all over everything. Forget about cooking or laundry. This pain stays even when you sit. Anyone that knows this pain deserves to live a life without it, and that doesn’t make that person bad. Oh, and I never said this woman was in pain. I’m referring to those that have no pain.
Exactly! Then they sit at their keyboards and pass judgement out of pure ignorance based on their very limited personal experience. Because these myopic @$$hole$ believe people that suffer need to suffer even more.
As someone who sees a pain doctor monthly....they are very strict. Urine Tests randomly, you cannot get any narcotics from any other doctors, not even the ER, and at any time the do pill counts. It is very very hard to play the system.
You still can get something in the ER. I'm on a monthly prescription but when I went to the ER with a pancreas flare up, they had to give me morphine and dilauded for the severe pain. They do however send that information to your doctor which in my case was no big deal because I had not been to the ER for anything pain related for the past 10 years and the scans showed the problem I was having justified the use of the pain medication given at the ER and then later in the hospital. If I was going to the ER regularly complaining of pain, that would be a red flag.
The judge is, but whoever this Mrs. Chism is, is only worried about keeping this junkie out of jail! From arguing/telling the judge on how long a prescription can be held, to how many violations the junkie had, which she was wrong about. No wonder these people aren't in jail, where they belong!!!
If she was selling them, why was she testing positive?? The whole reason she’s going through this with the drugs *is that they’re showing up in her urine.*
She doesn’t care that he put her on the compliance list bc she’s buying them off the street anyways. Now she needs to find a way to pass the testing, which she will eventually fail and end up locked up in a program which is what she needs. I support this judge on this and wished I met him when I was using pills too. I was using before the data base so it was much easier to get legally or buy. Gallstones was the reason I got prescribed them and I didn’t stop for a year. 15 years sober and all my friends are literally dead. My last friend from back then died a few months ago from liver failure. This is not the road anyone wants to go down and I praise this judge for cracking down early and addressing this as seriously as it should be taken.
If only drs and judges had done this 20 years ago BUT THEN ... IF only big pharma hadn't lied about opiods 20+ years ago. Addicts face more accountability than drug manufacturers do and addicts don't exactly face as much accountability as they should, so there's that.
Yep, as a former heroin addict of 22+years(76+monthssobernow), that's the look of an opiate addict in my opinion... Oxy's numb everything...! Emotions included...!!!
The lawyer is 100% wrong about pain meds having a 90 day shelf life….that is some kind of weird thing she dreamed up. And oxycodone is not 35 times more powerful than anything else, certainly not fentanyl or even methadone. Vicodin is the same strength as oxycodone, but they operate differently on the brain.
Agreed 💯 .. if you ever look on a prescription bottle, the meds do not expire in 30 days; it's usually a date of one year. Even after then, they're still good, just not as potent. I once had an antibiotic that I didn't finish, and then 8 months later asked the pharmacist if they were still good to take. He explained a lot, but basically the gist of it is what I said above.
Not about shelf life. She was talking about in legal terms. After 90 days, a prescription is no longer valid in the eyes of the law. So, even if she has those pills from a year ago, she can't use them. People are very sensitive about their pain meds, which is depressing and frankly points to the extend of the problem in the country.
Simply to add to others’ knowledge base: hydrocodone and oxycodone are not the same “strength” medications. To compare opioids, a unit called morphine milliequivalent is used. (MEQ) Essentially each drug is given a value to compare it to morphine. For example 1mg of oxy is 1.5mg of morphine sulfate therefore 40mg of oxy per day is equal to 60mg of morphine per day. A patient’s daily MEQ intake is what the DEA and the state-level monitoring programs track.
Also, OxyContin is no longer manufactured. "Oxy" is actually Percocet (or an equivalent generic) and comes in 5, 10, and 30 mg strenths. The 120 pill count by itself is not enough info, need to know the strength. The Judge is more right than wrong and is probably saving her life, at least for as long as he has her.
I was a pain patient for over 12 yrs and so happy I got off that roller coaster. I hope she gets help before she dies...I had a patient at my doctor's office ask if he could have my RX if I didn't need it...I should have reported that guy but I wanted out of there and didn't want trouble. That doctor lost his license and went to jail....
Since the rise of the "Opioid " epidemic , I can't believe a Physician prescribed more than 30 pills at one time! I'm a retired nurse and I've never known of a prescription of 100 or more pills at one time! Also, the pharmacy would/should question that! They should all be turned into the authorities.
My mom gets 56 for 28 day supply as she has extended release. She's on the lowest dose ever since her MS and multi disc failures. Add cancer top as well.
I take four day, 120 a month a 30 day supply which is monitored strictly by the pharmacy. My doctor has to order the pain pills only two days before the previous months prescription. No extra days early. I always hope my Rx does not come due on a weekend.
Over the counter pain relievers do next to nothing for real pain. If he thinks oxycodone is that strong, he has never had the pleasure of real pain. When I had my second cervical spine surgery, I was taking 10 milligrams of oxy every 4 hours followed by 100 micrograms of fentanyl 2 hours later every 4 hours. It took until day 4 to get my pain levels down to an 8. So, he lost a lot of respect I had for him when he started practicing medicine from the bench. You can't bully pain and addiction away!
Hey judge, I was a heroin addict for over 15 years, started on OxyContin. Switched to heroin after 5 years. I promise you that she will hate you while addicted. Then after a few years you will start to get people thanking you for your harshness. You are doing the right thing. It will take a few to see it. But your not wrong if you doubt what your doing. God put me here to reassure you. Here I am…
Good job judge...! I was a heroin addict for 22+ years... I am now 76+ months sober and absolutely love sober life...! I always got locked up, never offered treatment...! It wouldn't have worked, but jail didn't help either, at least initially...!! No amount of rehab/treatment will work unless that individual addict is ready to get sober...!!! It has to start from within, as the saying goes, "You can lead a horse to water..." Thanks for sharing and get sober today...!!! Keep up your awesomeness...
I've got one left from three years ago. Because I hate pills also in case of emergency. That's all. People who abuse should get help immediately or go to jail before they kill themselves or someone else. Your a great judge. Love your attitude. Wish there were more like You!
I usually like the way this judge handles things, but in this particular case without knowing more background I'm going to call a bit of a foul. He suspects she's both doctor shopping (based on a lifetime history of a total of 2 prescriptions) and sourcing her pills off the street. Many conditions with severe pain can remiss and relapse, gout, shingles, neuropathy just to name a few. It is entirely possible that she fears addiction so only uses the oxy when things are at their worst. The fact her 2 prescriptions were a year apart tends to support the idea that she may be telling the truth. Again, I don't have all the background about the underlying case, but based on this hearing alone I'm glad she got the benefit of the doubt of which I have much more than the judge.
Sadly, when my brother was alive, he wouldn’t take his pain medicine but sold the tablets at $10 a pop. Made me so angry when I found out. As for not taking any pain meds, I’m a great example of using my opioids very carefully. I actually get asked why I’m not refilling my prescriptions monthly because I don’t use them all the time. I do use naproxen when the pain gets bad. And it’s 1 year that the pills are good for once a prescription is filled. The state database will tell who prescribed what and when.
I understand that the judge has had a lot experience dealing with drug addicts but his view of Oxycodone is a bit astray. There are chronic pain patients that are legitimately prescribed Oxy for their pain but it’s attitudes like the judge’s that ends up causing these individuals to be treated like criminals. Legitimate users have to jump thru hoops just to get their prescriptions filled and are almost always treated suspiciously. I do realize in this case she was probably getting her pills illegally.
What doctor prescribes 120 oxys? I had back surgery and I got 12. I was supposed to take 3 a day for 4 days after surgery and that was it. I can't believe she got 120 and then another 100. That is insane.
I had three back surgeries including a full discectomy with my stomach pulled out to put in cadaver bones. Thirty doses max. Real doctors don’t play that.
My grandma used to get 120 of norcos every month then they put her on oxycodone same amount tho.. she got addicted bc she was first prescribed them in 2009.. fast forward to October 2023 she started going to pain management, and that doctor would not fill her prescription anymore, and while I understand the pain management doctor is looking out for his patient(s), but I wish there was a way to wean off of them instead of taking them away all at once, especially for older people where a withdrawal can contribute to more health problems and/or death 😔 I’m happy to say she was able to do it tho and I’m so proud of her❤️ She has been off of them since January 2024.
I used to work in a doctor's office in the early 1990s and the drug company reps would come with BOXES of Vicodin and Valium. They would be stocked in our drug sample cabinets next to the birth control pills and and Motrin. The docs gave them out fairly liberally.
How does the court reporter write down "raspberry" lol Good to see this judge interacting with staff. As tough as he talks to defendants, he speaks normally to others. I wondered!
I broke my knee and was prescribed oxy. It is a fantastic drug for pain control. No other pain meds would work post surgery. I totally understand the desire to be out of pain. I’m glad my physician took me off them after a 30 day prescription. This drug is ADDICTIVE.
Can he actually order her to not take any prescribed medication? I think he’s skating on thin ice here, because theoretically if she’s prescribed a medication it’s because a doctor finds it medically necessary for the patient, and in ordering her to disregard doctors’ instructions could be crossing the line into “practicing medicine without a license”. I can appreciate what he’s trying to do though, so I just hope his zeal to help her doesn’t end up being to his own detriment.
I think its different if you are on probation or parole… I work at a mental health facility and when our clients go to jail they cant take their controlled substances….even if they were on it before
How do I contact this AMAZING Judge to congratulate him? I love his "Take A Bite Out Of Crime" attitude!!! I pray he's getting great results with all his incredible efforts!!! 🧑⚖️ ⚖️
I am somebody who has been on oxy since 2012. You can never run out. Spent a few nights up all night not being able to sleep before the next script is due. Problem with Canadian health care system...waiting for a third back surgey!
@@thomashynes4042 You are absolutely right! A person has to have an addict’s brain to become addicted. I’ve been on the same dosage of pain meds for 14 years because it makes life bearable….I don’t have an addict’s brain. My husband was an RN who worked his whole career with veterans who had spinal cord injuries, and he said they always knew which vets would be addicts because they wanted 100% of their pain eradicated (which isn’t possible in their condition, actually). The non-addicts wanted just enough so they could bear the pain.
All opioids have the potential for addiction. Oxycodone is no more addictive than any other "common" opioid i.e. oxycodone hydrocodone, hydromorphone, morphine, dilaudid, codeine, etc. There are some super opiates like fentanyl that are 100 times stronger. But, when used appropriately in a MEDICAL SETTING are no more dangerous because the amont given is 100 times less. Fentanyl on the street is a different story cuz no control, being dished out at 100-200 times more in each pill than you'd get in a hospital or pain clinic. Opiates stop the pain, but not usually the best solution for more than 3-5 days.
This judge has a right to be concerned, but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about with “oxy”. The drug she’s taking and [according to her] had an old script for is OXYCODONE. The judge thinks it’s OXYCONTIN. There is a HUGE difference between the two. Oxycodone is just one small step up from hydrocodone, and nowhere near as powerful as OxyContin. I know many people including my dad who has had an Oxycodone script for 4 years in his cabinet. I tossed it when I found it because it obviously had expired, but if you don’t have an addictive chemical system, you could easily have Oxycodone in your house for a long time and forget about them. If this woman, however, is on probation for drug issues, then having any narcotic show up in her system deserves consequences.
I like the judges energy, seems fresh and rdy to help the people that come in front of him. A lot of judges come off cynical or fed up on a certain level. Judge Boyd comes off as sarcastic and cold to everyone in front of her. Not saying she's a bad judge at all but this judge seems to go the extra mile and and really care not indifferent
People who don't abuse/recreationally use opiates can and do keep a prescription for over a year. I had been prescribed vicodin when I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled back at the beginning of the 00's and I kept them for a long time afterwards (after I no longer needed them for the dry sockets). I would use them for my migraines when I needed something stronger than regular migraine meds. Same with the oxys when I had kidney stones.
I love this judge; however, some folks' pain is above and beyond what Advil and Alieve (or any over-the-counter drug) can do for you. I don't think this is the case with this young lady, but I'm just saying, there are plenty of exceptions to his way of thinking.
Never have I ever seen a judge go and call investigate and get all info by him self woow he’s rockstar the best judge so far 👏🏼 But the sound he make 😂 I’m dead😝
If this woman has chronic pain she should be with a pain specialist. With a chronic pain specialist you must have an office visit every 28 days. At that time your remaining pills are counted and you are prescribed for 28 more days. A urine test is done to monitor medications. This is a well managed method. If a person is truly in pain there is no getting high. IMO
My mother had back issues and was in severe pain, she got a prescription for oxy and kept, I think it was 180 pills for over a year. She was not an addict so yes people can get a prescription for pain meds and hold it, only using it when needed, just saying. Now whether this lady did or not idk but yea the judge obviously sees addicts on a daily basis so I can understand why he thinks that.
If someone ever develops super soldier serum, the first candidate for Captain America should be Judge Fleischer. He’s just radiating that superhero energy!
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this judge, he’s my favorite… he is caring and thorough, but in this case, he’s wrong in that some ppl DO & CAN sometimes hang on to pain meds, some ppl CAN, in fact, take them as needed. I know many ppl who couldn’t care less about Opiate pain medication. I don’t know the history of this defendant, but sorry judge…
You may have called providers but she may have gotten it from a quick care provider. They should have the physician’s name in the database. She didn’t get this from one of her main provider. And 120 oxy is an excessive amount and only prescribed through a pain provider with monthly monitoring.
Cancer is extremely painful beyond words. When I had cancer my oncologist prescribed that for me. That’s the only thing that got me through until my chemo/radiation treatments were completed. Once completed, I haven’t had the need for anymore pills. I love my life and body too much. If used responsibly, it’s possible but there’s always those who ruin it for the ones who really need it for actual medical reasons. I’m sure there are other medical reasons where it’s appropriate to be prescribed as well, so yes it’s happens.
I took opiates for severe back problems... By Oct '20 I had been prescribed methadone due to other opiates not working. That Oct I quit opiates cold turkey and almost died. When you've taken opiates for years you are addicted. The judge is correct there's no way she has these meds for over a year.
People who don't use habitually or recreational absolutely keep prescriptions for far longer then a year...
I was going to say this.
That's for sure! I've had several surgeries and I hoard anything left over.
For sure. Especially if they are worried about becoming addicted but still want to have something for the pain if it becomes unbearable.
And oxys aren't as strong as he is claiming they are.
Correct. Especially since getting prescribed adequate pain management meds is next to impossible.

I'm so sorry.
It’s also a HIPAA violation for them to speak on anything she’s prescribe without a court order which I doubt they had.
Since they are controlled substances, there are privacy exceptions when it comes to opioids.
This fantastic Judge takes zero bs! And its actually out of ❤️
It would have been interesting to see him in court before becoming a judge.
I LOVE THIS JUDGE!!!
This judge was so emotional - you'd think she was stealing *his* pills.😂😂😂
My grandma used to get 120 of norcos every month then they put her on oxycodone same amount tho.. she got addicted bc she was first prescribed them in 2009.. fast forward to October 2023 she started going to pain management, and that doctor would not fill her prescription anymore, and while I understand the pain management doctor is looking out for his patient(s), but I wish there was a way to wean off of them instead of taking them away all at once, especially for older people where a withdrawal can contribute to more health problems and/or death 😔
I’m happy to say she was able to do it tho and I’m so proud of her❤️ She has been off of them since January 2024.
I wondered!
I'm pretty sure the court reporter wrote it down in parentheses. LOL
I broke my knee and was prescribed oxy. It is a fantastic drug for pain control. No other pain meds would work post surgery. I totally understand the desire to be out of pain. I’m glad my physician took me off them after a 30 day prescription. This drug is ADDICTIVE.
Come on...either she or somebody forged a prescription, mom! D'oh
I suspect this judge has seen many cases of prescription drugs destroying peoples lives. Good on him for handling this the way he did.
I think its different if you are on probation or parole…
I work at a mental health facility and when our clients go to jail they cant take their controlled substances….even if they were on it before
Where can I watch his stream? I love this guy.😊
I ❤️ Judge Fleischer
How do I contact this AMAZING Judge to congratulate him? I love his "Take A Bite Out Of Crime" attitude!!! I pray he's getting great results with all his incredible efforts!!! 🧑⚖️ ⚖️
I am somebody who has been on oxy since 2012. You can never run out. Spent a few nights up all night not being able to sleep before the next script is due. Problem with Canadian health care system...waiting for a third back surgey!
OXYs are the most addictive pain relief you can get!
I have taken OXY, I am not addicted.... so saying its addictive is a general statement, not everyone that has taken gets addicted
@thomashynes4042 it absolutely is addictive. Not sure how long you've been on it, but definitely addictive
I had serious major surgery. Tylenol and 6 oxyi. I used 3 tablets. Yes I struggled, but I survived
My favorite Judge - Where is the Bow Tie
She won’t stop until she’s ready. Period. I know from experience
I absolutely love this judge!! Mr. GQ!!
Judge Fleischer = no bs!
Never have I ever seen a judge go and call investigate and get all info by him self woow he’s rockstar the best judge so far 👏🏼
But the sound he make 😂 I’m dead😝
This judge is the man…he really cares about he community
Man if he wasn't a judge he should have been an actor!!
IMO
I like this judge…he “sees you”.
An absolute role model of a judge!
God bless him, he just saved her life.
I had Oxi and turned in it at the drug drop at the FireHouse. Vile drug!
So happy to have this Judge in the rotation. How have I not seen him until now?
THIS guy gets it, holy shit
Pills don’t go bad after 90 days or even a year & it is legal to have left over pills after 90 days. I don’t know why anyone thinks differently 🤷🏽♀️
Horns and tail...
I wish all judges were like this 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We look at the data base where I work. You better believe we don’t just prescribe that like it’s candy.
His drip game is 10/10
If someone ever develops super soldier serum, the first candidate for Captain America should be Judge Fleischer. He’s just radiating that superhero energy!
When parents fail to parent, the judge becomes your parent in your adulthood. Pretty sad a grown person acts like a child.
It looks like everyone around this judge is trying to save him from himself.
You may have called providers but she may have gotten it from a quick care provider. They should have the physician’s name in the database. She didn’t get this from one of her main provider. And 120 oxy is an excessive amount and only prescribed through a pain provider with monthly monitoring.
This judge is scary angry. Very unprofessional
Here's a question- why would an MD prescribe 120 oxy's!! At one time????? That sounds absolutely crazy!!
That's only twice a day for 2 months
When I was taking them I was prescribed 10mg every 6 hours. The pills were 5mg each, so that's 8 a day. 120 is not a huge amount for chronic pain.
I took opiates for severe back problems... By Oct '20 I had been prescribed methadone due to other opiates not working. That Oct I quit opiates cold turkey and almost died. When you've taken opiates for years you are addicted. The judge is correct there's no way she has these meds for over a year.
The judge isn't a doctor.
So.
Judge Fleischer is wearing a tie today, not a bow tie. 🧐
