This is why i LOVE the "corvid" family of birds. They are every bit as intelligent as Parrots they can figure out complex puzzles, they form strong family bonds with each other. They have excellent memory skills and can remember where they "cache" various food or other items. And as you can see this Crow is thoroughly enjoying playing with this new found toy. I've been in the avian field now for nearly 30yrs and have "hands on" experience working with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws. I've witnessed Common Ravens tumbling down deep snow banks doing somersaults as they go just for the sheer fun of it...!!! Truly amazing intelligent birds that are VERY underrated as far as i'm concerned.
I TOTALLY AGREE. THE CORVID FAMILY OF BIRDS ARE AWESOME. I'VE HAD MANY ENJOYABLE HANDS ON EXPERIENCES WITH CROWS AND I FIND THEM AND RAVENS TO BE THE MOST DELIGHTFUL AND INCREDIBLE BIRDS EVER..... AND VERY UNDERAPPRECIATED. ❤❤
I just love crows. they're really amazing to watch because how smart they are and I like how they accept seagulls and even play with them. I think we can learn a lot from birds.
I appreciate every single kind of animal, can't say that i don't like any species, because i feel deep respect and love for any of them. But corvids are truely amazing. Love that video!!!
They also check if it is something they can open and eat. And the crow pretends to try to get the stuck ball up, to pretend he has not so much interst in the ball and that, that is why he gives it away to the big impressing gull, whom he don't want to understand that he is a bit coward towards it and that he immediately gave up, in case the gull wanted it. Also to see if he could be somehow friendly and not dangerous. Ha! I've seen lots of birds in action, also 30 crows in my park. They are so cute.
He's yelling to his birb friends, "I am master of ice ball who dareth challenge me?!?" Then the Gull comes in but realizes he is not match for the master.
Crows and Ravens are amazing; they're as smart as monkeys. TBH, I've read that zoologists rate their intelligence on par with 5 yo children. They remember human faces, as well as all of the other feats of intelligence they're known for. Facial recognition is seen as a very high benchmark in animal intelligence. They're the only nonprimates that make and use tools.
Hmmm can’t seem to eat it but hey THIS is fun! Must be near the city. I’m gonna see if this other ball can be freed. I found it interesting that the seagull accidentally got the ball rolling and this made the crow think it was fun to play with. He seems to want to free the other one from the ice?
I think they were more puzzled at the odd egg that does not crack.... Further attempts to figure out the strange egg resulted in what appears to be play..... My opinion of course....
Crows like to play - but in this instance I think they might be treating it just like a plum, or any number of edible fruits - which are mostly roundish
Crows are extremely intelligent (they can be compared to parrots and possibly even dolphins when it comes to the brain:body ratio) and they also, as scavengers, have an excellent sense of smell and also take keen interest in humans because humans = food. Corvids are known for their sense of play and the fact that it took interest Iin the rolling ball vs the ball stuck in the ice which would be way easier to Crack ( and yet did anyone notice our friend apparently tring to dig it out?) If it were a good source of food suggests it was interested in a new toy. Never underestimate crows....their flocks can make up to 5 generations, they are known to share knowledge and think ahead and if you screw with on of them they will send their entire extended family after you. Best to just let them have fun, with a ball, on an icy beach 😄
i do not like seagulls all that much ( i do not hate them either) when i lived in florida i saw a guy once walking down the side walk , and he had bought a piece of pizza or 2 from a store and he was eating it as he was walking . a seagull swoops down and takes it right out of his hand. which is part of the reason why it is illegal to feed the seagulls in florida

couldn‘t agree more! i love them!
Could we get one to run for office??
PLUS THEY CONSUME CORPSES
They are super cute to boot
Crow seeing the ball: I don't understand why humans get crazy about this rounded thing...
Five minutes later: WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I just love crows. they're really amazing to watch because how smart they are and I like how they accept seagulls and even play with them. I think we can learn a lot from birds.
Have you ever seen them fight Off a hawk??
They rarely seem to get along. Most of the time, seagulls and crows generally fight over territory or food if they interact.
In Canada, even the birds play hockey!
Twigryph looks like soccer to me...
They're leveling up their ball handling skills

"Hey guys! come look I found this huge egg and I need help cracking it.." LOL
Thanks for posting this.
Please make more!I could watch this for hours.💐
Deep down we all know that damn gull just wants to eat that thing
The little feet sliding!
i love how clear it is that he realised he had to stop running in order to make the ball stop.
I wonder what would happen if you gave him a small squeaky toy? 😂
RUclips at 2 am be like:
You wanna see some birbs vibing with a ball?
I hope this guy is doing well because we all appreciate you sharing this even if it was 10 years ago
The crow was playing with the ball. The gull was trying to eat it.
The Stanley Park crows are great at dropping nuts and shellfish onto the tarmac walkway to crack them open.
So cute!
The only bird I know that likes to play around.
FIFA competition between seagull and crow! How fun!
My favorite bird 👍👍👍 Thanks
it's a gooooooooooal!!
I realize I’m 4 years late, but “it’s a guuuuuuulllllllllll!”
Raised a Raven this summer. Chose to stay around and is uncaged.
Uploaded a few shorts on my channel. Let me know if you like them.
They need a puck and some hockey sticks. lol
He's yelling to his birb friends, "I am master of ice ball who dareth challenge me?!?" Then the Gull comes in but realizes he is not match for the master.
The crow prefers TENNIS!!
Federer-crow! ('Feder' mean feather in German)
I am an A.I. chatbot and I love friendly birds and all animals.

Love crows!
Great footage!
you come back a week later, they invented beakball :D
MY Bird, my Goddess sees through them... Morrigan's Child
Great video! Tripod. Steady hand.
PlanetRockJesus Noice
They are obviously hungry and it's hard to find anything to eat when there is ice and snow.
I welcome our Corvid Overlords...LOL
very nice vid ! thanks for posting !
Funny crow
Amazing!
The crow is offside!

"It could be an egg, let's shove it!"
maybe they think it's a big EGG and they want to eat the yoke which is just some rubber because it's a tennis ball not an egg
Nice too see
Why didnt the filmer help remove the stuck ball for the bird?
'Cause those birds are smart af and they can do it themselves and it's cool to watch!
That's brilliant
Probably thinks it's an egg just from the way it's pecking at it.
They’re pretty smart. He probably knows it’s a ball by association. And also by the way it looks and feels. Crows have very good vision.

They think its an egg, and a big one too! This is about possible food, not play.
Pretty sure that’s a raven
😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘
GOAL!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Not playing one bit, the crow at leat, thinks it's food
Покормите! Жрать хочу! Холодно замерзла!!!!
