How in the hell do they come off saying that an elite group of public servants with *LIFETIME* appointments should be allowed to make their own ethics rules?
THATS A GOOD REASON TO HAVE TERM LIMITS ON EVEN THESE SUPREME COURT JUSTICES!
It’s only if “good behavior” is present. And the standards are high. Being drunk on the bench yielded impeachment of more than one SCOTUS justice.

Impeach Thomas. All of his judicial decisions should be negated and re-tried by a fair and impartial court. Obviously we need ethics laws for the Supreme Court. Power should not be given to any small group of individuals without oversight.
You see how well oversight and holding people accountable with Republicans. They did/do no oversight or investigation on Trump and if they ran investigation that Trump was linked to that was not so good they shut it down. They have had all of things going on for awhile now, with not bothering to be held accountable. If it wasn't for Senator Whitehouse investigating, we probably never would know. Since Thomas is enabler for MAGA, they will try to squash any indictments like they are trying to to NY.

When the massive, indifferent percentage of eligible voters in this country get their heads out of their @$$e$ and vote! What _we_ voting Americans who actually give a damn can do is to push everyone we know to vote.
No accepting "I don't follow politics" or "I'm too busy to vote". We need to consistently, calmly, and patiently explain to our non-voting family, friends, and co-workers what is at stake.Most Americans would vote Democrats in if they knew what each side stood for.MAGA is like 20% of eligible voters in America, but those of us who oppose them are often unable to overcome their numbers.
Drive people to the polls. Do the research for them as far as early voting, locations, times, so that they don't have to do anything but show up and they have no excuse. Have people over and bring it up. Try to simplify what seems complicated to those who "don't follow politics".
A lot of people are happy to do nothing if they're making enough money and none of the bad stuff is affecting them, and our culture has never been as lacking in empathy as it is now. Find the thing that is at stake that _will_ affect them. Don't get angry and argue with them; educate them. And make them vote.
If we could take both houses of Congress and the Presidencey in 2024, then the government could start cleaning house, passing Ethics Laws, and making people accountable.

Term limits should be added the Supreme Courts members. No individual should have a lifetime appointment to any office.
Exactly. They have no incentive to have any ethics whatsoever, because--just like Trump--they know there won't be any consequences. If our nation has to go through all of this nightmare, then at least something good needs to come out of it: a sweeping passage of Ethics and Oversight Laws and the introduction of consequences to those who can't follow them, no matter how powerful they are.

Yes,he's supposed to also disclose that on his federal income disclosure forms,which he didn't. If he had,then he'd have to claim on federal taxes,too, and he didn't want to have to pay those taxes! So now he's in hot water for not only nondisclosure on income to federal oversight,but with the irs for nonreporting of income to avoid paying taxes!
And here in March of 2024 we find Justice Thomas still a member of the Supreme Court with no charges against him. What does that say about American justice?

We truly need reforms in the Supreme Court, there’s a need for time limits to all these Judges, there’s no doubt .
We need reforms across the board, this level of corruption has seeped so far past the roots it's in the very bedrock and needs to be dredged up, exposed and bleached clean.

Term limits are a bad idea. They would just make the court whipsaw between whatever party was in power when a term ended, and federal judges are not subject to term limits did precisely this reason. There definitely SHOULD be rules of ethics applicable to Supreme Court justices and those rules should be (gasp!) enforced. Thomas is a train wreck who needs to be held accountable, but that’s highly unlikely as the GQP now controls the judiciary committee.
