Actually you don’t need a real ID driver’s license to go to Puerto Rico. You’ll only need one beginning may 7, 2025. The Puerto Rico government is spending millions of dollars to let people know about that. Whatever your immigration situation is, if you have a REGULAR driver’s license, you’re good. I work at an immigration law office and I know many many people in different immigration situations that went there and it was all good. Another note is that a Puerto Rican friend told me that USCIS officials oftentimes would ask for your passport because they don’t even know that it’s not a requirement. You just tell them that Puerto Rico is a US territory and you’re good to go.
Liquillo Beach Beach is considered to be one of the best beaches in Puerto Rico. Then there's Crash Boat Beach and Combate Beach in Cabo Rojo. Also there's Aguadilla Beach in Aguadilla. You can visit the beaches in Arecibo where there was the biggest Radio Telescope. You can even go horseback riding. You will see people riding on horseback in the streets of Puerto Rico especially on the highways.
Thank you, Brik, for sharing a detailed list of things and ways to travel in Puerto Rico. I have not been there since I was 11. Back then it only took 2 hours to get from New York to Puerto Rico on Pan Am airlines, but now it takes almost 6 hours. I am now 60 years old and would love to know where my grandparents/great grandparents are buried.
I want to share a big Thank You for how informative, helpful, and fun these videos are. We made a family trip to PR June 2023 and your content was super helpful for our planning. We visited San Juan, Fajardo / Laguna Grande, El Yunque, Vieques, and the Jadin Botanico de Caguas, among others, and had a wonderful time.
Thank you!!! I have to thank my parents for putting me in a bilingual school since pre-k and all the excelente English teachers I had throughout school. 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
I was in Moca in 2020, just before Maria hit the island. The weather was gorgeous and honestly, the only problem we had was that GPS wasn't the hest. We ended up in the winding roads of the mountains and lost for at least an hour. Stay on the main road and never go into the mountains especially at night. No street lights and dangerous roads with no railings.
Hey!! Definitely, the mountain roads can be pretty intimidating at night and in general. No illumination, some locals know these streets so well that they go flying up and down these roads which can be stressful. However, I hope that doesn’t deter anyone from visiting the municipalities in the center mountain region of the island. They’re some of the most charming and naturally beautiful places on the whole island. 😍🙌🏼🇵🇷
Hey Shane!! Thank you so much!! For sure if I were visiting for the first time I would like to know all of this to plan a great trip to Puerto Rico 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
Hey!! Thank you so much for leaving a comment! Glad you think it was a pretty complete list of things tourist should know before traveling to Puerto Rico. 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
I will be taking my sons with me to Puerto Rico. My grandparents were from Ponce. The video was helpful. The last time I was was on the Island was when I was 17.
Oh wow!! Thank for leaving that comment, Steve! I hope you get to visit Ponce and reconnect to your family’s past. It’s definitely a very special place! Hope you have a great time in general when you visit the island with your sons! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
I drove by La Perla by accident at night trying to do a U turn at la Verguenza bar and some drunk guys kept shouting at us and some guy tried to open the car door to our rental. Avoid when in Old San Juan
Hey Joseph! Thank you for your comment! For sure, this video is great for first time visitors, and maybe someone who doesn’t visit that often. Wepa! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
Thank you so much for the comment! Happy you found it informative! That’s definitely what I aim for when making these videos. Hope it helps you with whatever you do! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
Renting a car was best for us we went from east to west north to south n it's not as big as I thought it would be sooner got a lot of things done that we wanted to do

New subscriber here 👋Thank you for sharing this video. I just visited San Juan in June and had a wonderful time. Although I've been and am returning next May, this video was very informative and I greatly appreciate you sharing. And yes, please do a video with more Puerto Rican slang ☺
Hey!! Thanks you for leaving a comment! Glad you definitely found it helpful, even though you’ve already visited! Hopefully this and my other videos help you enjoy other parts of Puerto Rico that you didn’t know about! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
Nice video. My sister lives in St. Croix and wants me to move there, but health insurance is impossible there as the affordable care act excludes St. Croix. So Puerto Rico is a good option, especially as I speak Spanish. This video seems to present a viable alternative. I do have plans to move to Spain when my house is sold, but always nice to know there are places in the US that are viable.
Hey Ken! Great to help you out in that decision. I’ve been to Spain and I have to say that it’s not a half bad option either haha I loved Madrid! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷🇪🇸
The best one by far is the one in Vieques, which I included in my Vieques Travel Guide video. There are others in Fajardo and La Parguera. I might do a video on Fajardo this year so stay tuned! Just keep in mind to visit the bio-bays when there is no moon (new moon) so you can see it better!
Everything is relative, Bryan. I’m sure cold for Houston won’t be cold for Norway. Anyways, this summer we broke record heat reaching way over 100 degrees. I’m sure Houston felt hot too, as I’m sure you’ll be happy to point out.
Hey Benjamin! I haven’t seen the “Pisa y corre” in a while. They might still exist, but I’m not sure. Actually, after this video San Juan launched a new free “trolley” system which I haven’t tried but seems to cover a large part of San Juan. I believe La Sultana still exists, which is a bus that travels all the way to Mayagüez and back through the north.
Great video! I’m planning to come to Pierto Rico for my birthday this year!!! My friends will come back after a few days and I want to stay back explore some more of it. What’s the safest and fun way to go about it. I’m more into exploring the local side of it but since It will be it’s just Me Myself and I 😂😂😂
Thank you!! That’s great! You could try renting a car visiting the west side of the island (Isabela, Aguadilla, Cabo Rojo) and it’s beaches. It also depends on the things you get to cover while you’re friends are visiting.
thank you for that. im planning to go to puerto rico in june, hope the hurricane dont come after july. still you need to wear mask in restaurant or museums ?
Hey Sandra!! That’s amazing!! Thank you for the good vibes. I too hope that hurricanes don’t hit us at any moment this year and any other year 😅 At the moment the only place you have to wear a mask is at the doctors office haha
Try Escambron Beach, but the area that is not directly facing open water. It’s near the Scuba Dogs location. You should be able to find it on google maps. Also try the Playita del Condado. Hope that helps! 😄🇵🇷🙌🏼
I have a trip planned to Puerto Rico and were leaving in less than 20 days already have my excursions and what not payed for and booked. I knw you said hurricane season starts in June but do you know when exactly it starts? It would suck to have to cancel my trip.
Hey Lindsay! Definitely don’t cancel your trip. The most active months of the hurricane season is during August-November. Hope you get to visit soon! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
That’s amazing, Joe!! If you want flexibility to go wherever and whenever, your best bet is to rent a car. In the metro area you can definitely get by using Ubers, but outside of that you’ll need a car or a tour operator. Hope that helps and that you have a great time in Puerto Rico! 😄🇵🇷🙌🏼
Maybe the tap water is safe now? I know when I visit my family in Rio Piedras we absolutely do not drink tap water and my grandmother is pretty strict about this lol
We drink tap water every day haha and it is generally served at restaurants as well. I haven’t really heard of someone getting sick from drinking our tap water, though I’m sure there could be an odd case.

In your opinion, can I still purchase tickets at the ferry terminal? I saw that online tickets sell out fast! I was Interested in using ferry to visit culebra
Hey!! If you’re near the ferry terminal, it might be worth it to see if they are available at the ferry terminal. If you’re in San Juan, it might not be worth the 1 hour or maybe more drive to see if they have tickets available. I would try my best to get them online. Unfortunately that could also be a pain sometimes. Hope that helps! 🙏🏼🇵🇷
No estoy seguro, honestamente.
Hey! I would say Toa Baja is not considered the metro area. If you’re staying there, I would highly suggest renting a car to get around. Additionally, Toa Baja is at least 40-45 minutes away from Old San Juan and Condado (the main truistic areas). If you are renting a car and if you’re planning to visit other areas apart from San Juan like the beautiful beaches on the north and north west side of PR, Toa Baja might be a good place to stay at. Hope that helps!
Haha Great!! Thank youu!! Unfortunately we can’t add external (non-RUclips) links inside of a video as a pop out card at the top of the screen. If not, I would definitely be doing that 😅😂
Haha if you’re here during the weekend I’ll be recording a video of the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian, the biggest party in Puerto Rico! If you around and see me definitely say hi!! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
Actually one of the places I look forward to eat in Puerto Rico is Burger King’ breakfast. Criollo with sausage, pancakes and oatmeal. There is no better breakfast on the island than Burger King. Much better than a mata hambre.
Tu te despiertas pensando en Burger King? 😂 If you don’t get the reference, BK had a jingle talking about how people wake up thinking about their breakfast haha
@@BriksTravelGuides "your vaccination card" haha you think everyone got a vax like it's just common civic duty lol. Not all were sleep walking... very sad for everyone that fell for the gov't propaganda.
Forgot to mention T-Mobile! No problem with them. They connect automatically. You won’t need to buy a SIM if you’re traveling from the USA to PR using T-Mobile. Thanks for the question, Xavier! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
US residents flying from US territory to Puerto Rico need a government-issued photo ID, such as driver's license. However, that driver's license will have to be Real ID compliant by May 7, 2025.
Why don’t you mention Ponce and other beautiful cities and towns that people would like to visit. You only mention the city of San Juan. You must be from SJ
Again. let me say how I enjoyed and learned from your informative video. I simply can't figure out how to give money to you or anybody else on "Buy me a coffee". It's crazy stupid! They are all about content creators, not donators. Maybe you need to post a specific link.
U should elaborate on the safety, las perlas is actually a very dangerous place, no police rhere, also the beaches are dangerous, nd outside of hotels at night. Etc...
Well, as I said, there are areas in La Perla that are safe for people to visit during the day. At night, not so much, unless you know exactly where to go.
Thank you! I had to cover both good and bad just to set some expectations for people who might not know anything about Puerto Rico. I try to be as real as I can but also highlight all the amazing things about Puerto Rico. Thank you for the feedback, though! And thank you for watching my videos! 😊🙏🏼🇵🇷
The bar crowd usually observe siesta is a short nap that is usually taken in the early afternoon, often after lunch. Some ways to say "to take a nap" in Spanish include: Echarse una siesta Dormirse una siesta Echar la siesta Tomarse una siesta Dormir la siesta Hacer la siesta Echar un sueño
Puerto Rico is a US territory. There is no customs when flying within the US (flying within the US includes Puerto Rico). You show your ID like you do when boarding any flight in the US.
You currently dont need real ID to travel to PR
Yes. If you are going to do some bussines in any goverment office. Anywhere they ask you for you ID.
Yes! You need an ID to travel to PR
@@edo7637 They're talking about Real ID, which is a specific kind of ID.
@@normagonzalez7470 Not ID, but Real ID. It's a new thing.

2. No estoy seguro, honestamente.
I want to go 😅
Haha Rooting for you! Hopefully you get to visit soon! 😄🙏🏼🇵🇷
hi! i was wondering what counts as the metro area as i'll be staying in Toa Baja. Is everything there quite touristy and/or open late?
Toa Baja is mainly residential.. West of San Juan... Namaste!
hi what about brining my dog with me from florida
Hey! Honestly, I’m not sure. I would contact the airline you’re using for more information on how to do that.
Ok now I found it in your comment. Add it to the video!!!
Haha Great!! Thank youu!! Unfortunately we can’t add external (non-RUclips) links inside of a video as a pop out card at the top of the screen. If not, I would definitely be doing that 😅😂
I’m going to PR next week can we meet up 😂
me too!!
Haha if you’re here during the weekend I’ll be recording a video of the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian, the biggest party in Puerto Rico! If you around and see me definitely say hi!! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
yah mon
😎🇵🇷😎
Actually one of the places I look forward to eat in Puerto Rico is Burger King’ breakfast. Criollo with sausage, pancakes and oatmeal. There is no better breakfast on the island than Burger King. Much better than a mata hambre.
Tu te despiertas pensando en Burger King? 😂 If you don’t get the reference, BK had a jingle talking about how people wake up thinking about their breakfast haha
😂😂😂
Hello! Do you still need a negative covid test?
Nah, old news this video is a year old
Like mentioned above, you don’t! And no places ask for your vaccination card either.
@@BriksTravelGuides "your vaccination card" haha you think everyone got a vax like it's just common civic duty lol. Not all were sleep walking... very sad for everyone that fell for the gov't propaganda.
Is Culebra really worth it ?
If you enjoy amazing beaches, I would say so! I need to make a video about it in the near future.
@@BriksTravelGuides im all about experiencing the best beaches in the Caribbean so I’m definitely going . Thanks !
Yo!well ! talk ou later! ;)
HUGE TAXES!!!... 11.5% 😅
It hurts every time I pay for something 😅😅😅
Please make video on Puerto Rican slang, Please!
Haha yesss!! Hopefully in the near future! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
Will there be a problem with T-Mobile service?
Forgot to mention T-Mobile! No problem with them. They connect automatically. You won’t need to buy a SIM if you’re traveling from the USA to PR using T-Mobile. Thanks for the question, Xavier! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
WOW ! 11.75 % sales tax and the roads r in horrible condition ? !
YUP! Very unfortunate 🫠
Yeah... If you want a wild ride, watch the politics in the island
Drive on Pennsylvania roads.
You forgot to Mention Los hoteles de Caguas
Chico, esto es un canal PG-13 😂
🥰
Is the enhanced ID required or can you get to the island with a regular license
I believe you can use a regular ID for now. Check the travel guidelines online to make sure.
US residents flying from US territory to Puerto Rico need a government-issued photo ID, such as driver's license. However, that driver's license will have to be Real ID compliant by May 7, 2025.
Is Uber expensive?
Hey! Depends on where you’re comparing it to. I personally would say yes, but it might be a bit cheaper than big cities like NYC.
I thought it was cheap in PR
I go to Puerto Rico every yr uber is not expensive.
Why don’t you mention Ponce and other beautiful cities and towns that people would like to visit. You only mention the city of San Juan. You must be from SJ
Hey Ivan! You should check out the other videos on my channel. I have a video about Ponce and other cities around Puerto Rico.
Again. let me say how I enjoyed and learned from your informative video. I simply can't figure out how to give money to you or anybody else on "Buy me a coffee". It's crazy stupid! They are all about content creators, not donators. Maybe you need to post a specific link.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and found it informative! The link is in the description on all of my videos 😄🙏🏼
U should elaborate on the safety, las perlas is actually a very dangerous place, no police rhere, also the beaches are dangerous, nd outside of hotels at night. Etc...
If you're concerned, don't come.
@@reyrivera2478 u r very curt.....
@@karenm5723 very courteous,he/she should be a communication expert.
Well, as I said, there are areas in La Perla that are safe for people to visit during the day. At night, not so much, unless you know exactly where to go.
A real ID is not required...yet
Hey! I read that it was going to be required at some point so I thought I’d future proof the video haha but thanks for the feedback!! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷
Thank you so much for clearing that up.. I was just about to ask that question. 😊
I think Real ID starts May.2025
Is this video misleading in that you don't need a real i.d. to fly from the u.s. until 2025? The video says this is currently enacted.
Hey! Sorry for the confusion. It can be another normal drivers license, for now. Thank you for the question!
Yeah it was originally supposed to be a few years ago but got postponed multiple times. Currently you do not need real id.
new date for requirements for real id at all domestic airports will start from May 7th 2025.
I like your information, but you put too many negatives things about our island.
Thank you! I had to cover both good and bad just to set some expectations for people who might not know anything about Puerto Rico. I try to be as real as I can but also highlight all the amazing things about Puerto Rico. Thank you for the feedback, though! And thank you for watching my videos! 😊🙏🏼🇵🇷

Echar la siesta
Tomarse una siesta
Dormir la siesta
Hacer la siesta
Echar un sueño

No one asks for ID at the airport to passengers arriving on domestic flights. International travelers must go through customs like everywhere else.
But you do have to show an ID with your boarding pass to TSA.
@@BriksTravelGuides Isn’t that how it works will any domestic flight regardless of where it’s going? No one asks for IDs on arrival.
What about when leaving PR to us mainland ? Do you clear customs or just tsa?
Puerto Rico is a US territory. There is no customs when flying within the US (flying within the US includes Puerto Rico). You show your ID like you do when boarding any flight in the US.
I dont think you need a real ID until May of 2025.
