I love homemade kombucha!
i love ginger this morning ate my last bit of sliced ginger made homemade not store lol costs me about 20 bucks for the amount i made and only cost 81 cents to buy the ginger so next to nothing now im looking into growing but seems like it takes a while

Ok I just read your recipe. Will the flavored kombucha work to grow a new scobe?
Yes! As long as you have a live cultured Kombucha to work from, you can grow a new scoby. I just use unflavored so I'm not wasting the flavored incase it doesn't grow properly.
I only have the store bought. It says it is raw organic with culture. Can I grow a scobe from that.

What kind of tea do you use?
Did you get your Scoby from your mil?
I use an organic black tea from Strand Tea Company, the Darjeeling variety. I actually grew my own scoby! You can do that by using a 1/2 Cup of store bought kombucha in your tea when you first start out and it will grow it's own scoby that you can use for the batches to come.

That thing looks like a giant loogy.
So funny story - Ben was drinking some store bought the other night, and he wound up getting the little piece of mother at the bottom... And he sort of stopped and almost gagged, and said "I just swallowed the booger... Ugh..." While he was drinking water and trying not to barf, our middle child all of a sudden yells "BOOGER!" which nearly made Ben shoot the water through his nose. 😂
