  • Hi everyone, this was my first completed model of 2021, and I'm glad that in 2022 I'm finally able to present this kit to you. This is an older model, and this boxing was the last time it was produced. Given its age, this is still a really fun model, and one that I hope to build a few more times in the future.

    My Uncle John Burnham flew as a trainee in one. He pranged his kite in training and washed out of pilot training due to the resulting head injury but later served as a bomb aimer and instructor with the CATP.

    I always get excited when I see a pilot in a kit. It’s like getting the toy at the bottom of the cerial box. Beautiful work. You are the Van Gogh of the modelling world.

      Thanks Ron :) I'm excited for the day my brother get's a 3D printer, as I'd like to use more pilots with the models, but they all look too uniform, and I'd like to have more variety.

    Just Beautiful!! Always loved the T6. If you can fly this airplane sucessfully and properly, you can fly any aircraft there is. That's just a cold hard fact!!

    Jared another fine work, the chipping is so subtle it looks authentic. I'd like to see you do an airfix chipmunk

      Thanks Brian, I wish I had gotten it a bit thinner on the cowling, but hey I'll save that for next time. Well, if I had a Chipmunk I'ld build it for you, but I haven't come across one, Airfix aren't exporting much at the moment.

    Awesome work. How many of us had our 1st 1/48 experience with a Monogram kit? Mine was the White Box edition of the Vought Corsair. Monogram was ahead of their time. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  2 года назад

      Thanks Mike, for me it was the Monogram 1:48 Memphis Belle that I built with my Dad when I was 5. My job was to find the parts that he needed, and it's cemented a fondness with this company that I can't ever shake. Building this kit was so much fun.

    You make it look so easy. ;) A fantastic build. I hope you get to make another video showing how you made those seat belts (the lost footage you mentioned). Thanks for sharing.

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  2 года назад +1

      I hope to as well. My problem was I recorded it on a piece of glass that I use for cutting tape, and the light reflection make things distorted on the camera. I'm thinking of just doing a separate video on the belts. This way I could devote more time to properly explaining how I made them, rather than a 40-second video.

    Flawless yellow. Got to love those vibrant interwar / trainer type schemes- I'm terrified to try painting them though! I'm also impressed how smooth you were able to lay out your semigloss coat- what ratio / pressure were you running? I am sick of having such awful results with my final clearcoats.

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  2 года назад +1

      Thanks TWA, I've got to admit it was a tough one to get a balanced coat with, especially on the canopy parts, hence the build up. But since then I've learned a lot and I hope to apply this knowledge to fute car builds. I think it comes down to the Laquer-Retarder that I use, and I thinned the semi-gloss about 50-50, at my standard pressure around 20 PSI.

    Love it rebel sir. I have watched you for years now and seen you improve and build on your skills massively. One quick question. How many kits have you built and in how many years. When did you start RUclips I'd love to see your first video can you help me find it. Keep up the work rebel you have no idea how your builds effect my life in a positive way

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  2 года назад +1

      Thank you kindly Stephen, I hope I've improved, as my first video was the Revell/Monogram 1:48 P-51D. I used a rattle can for that one, and hand-painted (incorrectly I might add) a lot of the details. It was a build for someone in town who had seen that particular P-51 in person and wanted a build of it, but they moved away and never picked it up. Thanks again, I'll try and get more videos out, I'm currently stuck on my latest project, it's just not going together as smoothly as I'd like. And I'd like to do a general update video soon explaining what's going on for this year.
