This is one of my favorite clips. You can see the love he has for the game. If the love for the game doesn’t succumb to burnout he will do well for years. Expectations about him going pro will lead to burnout if the expectations surpass his genuine love for playing. Good luck kid. My only advice is to use that passion and heart towards all your goals on and off the court. ❤️
He can have all the skill in the world, but if he doesn't have the raw physical ability based solely on genetics, he won't be going pro. And the odds of that happening are very slim.
Parents are free to do what they want, but I just think it's strange and detrimental to force a kid to do something so much before they can even explore their passions.
I was a very good basketball player and played in college, but I do not and would not force my kids to be so hyper-focused on one particular thing.
Besides, the best athletes end up being people who played a multitude of sports growing up.
You can ask any current baseball talent evaluator, and they will tell you that a lot of baseball prospects today lack the fluidity and natural movement of past generations because they've been doing nothing but playing baseball their whole life. It causes them to be robotic and to hyperfocus on certain "techniques" that lack creativity or improvisation.
