Thanks for watching, subscribing, and liking this video! Round 2 was cancelled due to lightning. Final Round is scheduled tomorrow if weather permits so hopefully we will see you back here on Monday.
I love Uli’s commentary and Perkins is a great complement! They work off each other really well. Good humor, good analysis and great at gently distinguishing between bad shots, bad decisions and tough breaks.
Love the coverage....... I don't even play disc golf and I've been watching and following for the last year. Huge respect for the effort going into these. I really like that you have multiple pro announcers who are playing the tournament. Revolutionary idea!!
Brian last on commentary last tourney? He was great too. Love when Nate accidentally gave a spoiler for the hot round on the front. Laughed it off with a 'rookie's comment, gold
Great coverage. A note for commentary: It feels more like two guys talking about disc golf rather than watching along with us and commentating in the moment. Often, a good shot grabs their attention and interrupts the conversation they were having. It comes across almost like a disinterest in what’s going on in the moment and I start drowning them out to focus on watching the game being played. Hope that’s helpful feedback.
Great commentary!! Paul and Nate are a great team!! Course looked great! I followed this card around all day and was amazed at how hard the Jomez team worked!!! After a very short break to inhale some food between the FPO and this card, the Jomez team hustled all day!!! I came away with a greater appreciation for what these guys do.
Really enjoyed the Uli/Perkins commentary. They compliment each other nicely, making for a very enjoyable duo to listen to. Would love to see/hear more of these two on the mic in future videos.
Why does the men’s division seem to go so fast? Watching the Women it seems to take so long on each hole,... Great coverage as always JOMEZ. Thanks for getting out there and catching all this coverage!!
Probably bc the men take 2-3 on a Par 3 and the women take 3-5. Feature card men are finishing well under par on this layout, whereas most women were well over par (even Paige was like +6 or something?) More shots = more time.
Hole 16 seemed like it was damn near impossible to film, lol. Really enjoyed the commentary on this round. I think Paul is getting better and better, and Nate did a great job too. Hopefully we'll see them teamed up a lot.
Uli killed me with that comment after Eagle's missed putt on hole 11 "He looked to the heavens, to ask them, and then was like, nobody cares and hit himself..."
KevinKnox Playlist he 100% did beat the designer. Just because he didn’t get an eagle or birdie doesn’t change that... it’s playing as the sixth hardest hole. Almost always having a solid heiser for a birdie opp? Easy choice
No complaints at all, would like to here a little more about what discs these guys are throwing. I’ve learned a lot about different discs just by watching jomez 🧐
Very solid commentary pairing. Funny and insightful. I don't mind the more conversational aspect of the commentary as it provides more depth and insight into what's going through the players' minds in regard to a lot of things outside of just telling me a guy threw a hyzer or anhyzer. It was all relevant to the action, so it's good in my book. Keep up the good work, sucks about the weather.
Kudos to Nate Perkins. First time I have heard anybody call out Ricky's lack of the Harp and his less-than-sharp upshots. This seems to be the part of his game holding him back a few strokes this year. I look forward to him dialing this in. Innova has a truck-load of new overstable putter/mids. One of them has got to click eventually. Kind of ironic that Paul has added the Zone for his forehand approaches to fight the Harp, and Ricky still searching. Ricky sold a lot of Harps, and nobody trading them in yet.
Can't always blame the baskets...sure new baskets would be nice, but as players we also need to adapt to the conditions and environment that the course provides. Spit outs are part of disc golf. They will happen on new baskets, and sometimes on the prettiest and most dead center putts...however, there is a solution....park it!!!!
Imagine the scene: It's a PGA Major, and Tiger Woods has a 1-metre putt for birdie. He strokes the ball beautifully, and it drops into the hole. The crowd starts clapping, but the ball is ejected from the hole, and stops 20cm from it. Imagine that happening three times in just the one round. *sigh*
A suggestion: Add 10 - 15 seconds between holes for after-hole commentary. Too often we're still hearing about the last hole while the players are driving the next hole. It makes the commentary feel incomplete and sometimes a little rushed. The extra time will give the commentators time to finish discussing the last hole and be ready to cover the next hole when they players are driving it.
looks like some of the spit outs on those baskets could be fixed by getting the pole tight tight in the ground, I know when my basket is loose in the ground it will spit all kinds of putts out. They could just put some kind of grate/cap onto of the ground around the pole to hold the pole from moving. Its like even if the pole is just a little loose if you putt hard it will push the pole then spit out when the pole rebounds back. Know what I mean? Maybe they just looked looser on video then they really are tho...
its physics, tho. cuz if you hit higher up with lots of spin on the disc for example if you don't push forward enough ie with followthrough the disc can spin in place and drop, and miss the basket, essentially providing you with a 'spit out', a shot that would probably be in the basket if you were to adjust and shoot it closer to the cage so it has less air to drop out of to miss catching. it's actually just basic logic and physics at play. i think paul hit it on the money with how he discussed it, and how you can never blame the basket for a missed shot if you know there were adjustments you could make so that it would not be an issue to complain about. i think it's silly how much i hear these complaints about spit outs when again, it is clearly just a matter of logic and physics here. here here.
They are likely used to newer baskets like the mach X that can take a drilled center putt. I was surprised they redid Harry Myers but kept the same old baskets. Several are sunk too low, too. Texas has a lot of established courses with older baskets so it probably deserves some of that rep. Waco and Veterans have new DD veteran baskets but most in the area have what was put in 10 years or more ago.
Umm, guys... Why is everyone like "perfect coverage as always" when they messed up the graphics on the last hole. When DGPT did that it was the worst thing ever, but no one even cares when Jomez messes up? Scores were 2, 4, 3 and 4, graphics are 3 4's and a 5? And the 4 is bogey so it should be red not grey.
There are 3 options moving forward: Firstly, the PDGA needs to formalize the events that they'll claim as "the pdga North American tour" Their options from there are to buck up and install MachX (or have a rotating set of baskets used at each event, for that event). Or, to innovate their own "PDGA tour basket" for the same use. Or continue to have discontent and disgruntled players as a result of some of the absolutely horrible baskets they have to use in some tourneys Inb4 "everyone is putting on the same baskets" inb4 "just adust your putt for the baskets" It's disgraceful on the pdga to have the baskets ever be a talking point at their biggest events.
The baskets are fine, if anything they could adjust the chains about a half inch closer to the pin, it would make them slightly narrower and greatly reduce those bounce outs since more chains hit will slow the discs more. Last thing we need in this sport is easier putting. In ball golf if you hit a putt too hard it will definitely bounce out or over the hole. So I think adjusting your touch for the basket makes it more interesting as long as all the baskets are the same for the course. I have played too many courses where every pin has a different basket type.
It’s nice to hear the disc and shot info, but I really like that Nate S. And Jeremy always focus on the individual players shots and describing the holes... They’ll even interrupt themselves to highlight good shots or descriptions of holes, Like true commentary. Maybe for these guys, spend less time talking about how difficult/easy certain shots are and just comment on everyone’s shots and help us feel more attached to the playing!
I've noticed a trend watching Ricky for years on camera: he doesn't typically play very well with players better than him on the same card. Usually he only has to worry about one name being on that card, but I think it's a tribute to how good Eagle is now, with the way that we see Ricky bombing this round, because I see that same "Icky Ricky" in this round that I've seen on past rounds with Paul. Also, can we all agree to stop using Ricky's 2015 forehand to justify him as "one of the best forehand players in the game"? The last 2 years at least, he's noticeably shied away from using it on anything but approaches, and when he does use it on non-approaches, it's definitely not a top 5 flick, and maybe not a top 10.. Now his forehand approach on the other hand? Absolutely a case for that #1 spot! At least with the Harp.....
Unpopular opinion: At this point Ricky deserves the spit outs. When you’ve seen as many spit outs/spit backs as Ricky has and have never changed your putt, at some point it’s your fault. You know what the baskets will do, and you don’t change.
It's funny how in these commentaries some expressions are trending so that everyone is using them over and over again. At the moment they are "money" and "killing it". You may want to come up with something else soon. :)
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and liking this video! Round 2 was cancelled due to lightning. Final Round is scheduled tomorrow if weather permits so hopefully we will see you back here on Monday.
Stay dry guys!
Thanks for the heads up fellas stay safe
If the thunder don't get ya then the lightning will
Bummer, thanks for the heads up. Was looking forward to the coverage.
I love Uli’s commentary and Perkins is a great complement! They work off each other really well. Good humor, good analysis and great at gently distinguishing between bad shots, bad decisions and tough breaks.
Totally
Love the coverage....... I don't even play disc golf and I've been watching and following for the last year. Huge respect for the effort going into these. I really like that you have multiple pro announcers who are playing the tournament. Revolutionary idea!!
you should go play
These two guys aren't even the best announcers. Look for Nate Sexton and Jeremy K.... Big Sexy commentary is the best.
I’ve heard them all!! Love Sexton
Really enjoying the Paul // Nate combo. I have a new second favorite commentary team.
(Sorry guys, Big Sexy still takes the cake)
Brian last on commentary last tourney? He was great too. Love when Nate accidentally gave a spoiler for the hot round on the front. Laughed it off with a 'rookie's comment, gold
“Texas the Spit Out State” 😂. Expect a letter from the Chamber of Commerce soon.
We all swallow here in Oklahoma.
Great coverage. A note for commentary: It feels more like two guys talking about disc golf rather than watching along with us and commentating in the moment. I felt the same way, well said.
I totally agree!
I think Paul Ulibarri does a phenomenal job commentating with astute analytics. Keep him coming!
All the coverage made my day. Thanks Jomez
Thank you for the coverage!
Thanks guys! Love it. I got to get some Jomez merch.
Nate Perkins killing it on the commentary!
Hole 16: "Is that OB!?"
Foreal everyone was in bounds and he said every single shit was OB lol
Really enjoyed the Uli/Perkins commentary. They compliment each other nicely, making for a very enjoyable duo to listen to. Would love to see/hear more of these two on the mic in future videos.
As usual with Jomez: great video and commentary. Really appreciate the work you all do.
Weekend going great
Coverage to watch and rounds to play thx jomez

Thanks for the giggle Paul, “the wind in Texas breaks in the baskets “ pure gold 😂😂🙌also jomezpro just keeps upping the coverage everytime
He wasn't necessarily wrong. It's called mechanical and chemical weathering 😃
Riley Brenner in other words “rust”😂
Uli you rock dude! Your knowledge of the game is awesome. Hope to meet you sometime.
Hole 16 seemed like it was damn near impossible to film, lol.
Really enjoyed the commentary on this round. I think Paul is getting better and better, and Nate did a great job too. Hopefully we'll see them teamed up a lot.
On hole 14, did they blur out Landon's disc when he waved after the putt? What are you blurring out Jomez?
@@mikeh7941 I don't know, I rewound it a few times looks blurred. CONSPIRACY CONTINUES! lol
Sexton will always be king but I am really liking Nate Perkins' commentary. Seems like a really level headed, chill guy.
Paul U. does a great job on the commentary
It's not the basket making Ricky miss...
Shots Fired
Eagle's putt is just getting outrageously good
Awesome coverage as always! Really enjoyed the commentary.
2nd never is there a negative feed back with jomez just perfection keep it up jomez
Uli killed me with that comment after Eagle's missed putt on hole 11 "He looked to the heavens, to
ask them, and then was like, nobody cares and hit himself..."
i vote cover another tournament this weekend next year. this has to be the worst course so far, used to be good.
Eagle needs to make an instructional video on how to master that vertical shot. That was awesome!
This is the commentary I'd listen to if I wanted to learn "Negging" techniques.
Commentary aside, great video coverage as always Jomez!
I completely agree with you on this. Starting having to mute the videos.
You're not beating the course designer when you chose an unconventional path and then bogey
I only count 4 shots, there must've been something they didnt show on camera?
Well he had he could’ve had a look for birdie if he threw his second and third shot better
KevinKnox Playlist he 100% did beat the designer. Just because he didn’t get an eagle or birdie doesn’t change that... it’s playing as the sixth hardest hole. Almost always having a solid heiser for a birdie opp? Easy choice
The jomez graphics were wrong that's all
It really just depends how well he can throw the tunnel shot. It's a pretty standard birdie and easy par if you can throw two ~225ft straight shots.
Jomez rockin it as always. Thanks dudes and dudettes!
BTW, Perkins as commentary is DOPE! Please more!!
By the 2020 season, if not sooner, Eagle will be regularly beating McBeth. You heard it here first, folks.
Great coverage as always Jomez!!! And good job Mr. Perkins and of course Paul.
Ill be here when its up
Locastro is really good at “grenades” too. He and Eagle are betting than anyone at them IMO
'...he's kinda on the...struggle bus rn...burgh burgh.'Nate Perkins. Great vibe.
No complaints at all, would like to here a little more about what discs these guys are throwing. I’ve learned a lot about different discs just by watching jomez 🧐

Super frustrating, even as just a fan, to see those spit-outs. New baskets should have been the priority instead of a course re-design.
Can't always blame the baskets...sure new baskets would be nice, but as players we also need to adapt to the conditions and environment that the course provides. Spit outs are part of disc golf. Yeah man there's some basket issues here. Especially Eagle's complete bounce back on 11.
That said, once you know the DisCatchers are spitting them out with hard putts, stop hard putting. It's not rocket science.
A suggestion: Add 10 - 15 seconds between holes for after-hole commentary. Too often we're still hearing about the last hole while the players are driving the next hole. It makes the commentary feel incomplete and sometimes a little rushed. Like a 5-10 second 100ft overhead view from the drone of the hole just thrown, and commentary. That would be awesome.
@@Oklahomabum That would be fine or just follow the card to the next tee.
Someone test eagle for PEDs
"are you serious" thats pretty much my reaction too
I really enjoy Nate’s commentary, he’s always very insightful
Always the best coverage out there. I'd say add Paul Ulibari to the great commentators Big Sexy and it would be amazing
Nate sounds just like Tom Brady! Great commentary, guys! Keep it up!
Nate: The Cedars!
Uli: Oookay!
Will someone please elaborate on the reason for the course re design?
Thanks gentlemen.
Sank 150 foot grenade shot the other day, it's so useful!
I want Big Sexy back. Perkins is pretty good though.

Liking Nate P. on the mic! :)
great round! really enjoyed all the styles of play these guys threw!!!
Eagle breaks the hole... Um It's Eagle has the hole in his talons.
I played HM maybe 2 years ago, and I dont remember blue baskets. Did they put in older baskets as part of the redesign lol?
They are vinyl bands placed on the baskets for the tourney.
"he looked to the heavens to ask them - and then hes like - nobody cares" . . .
Very nice to see an amateur in the mix with these pros for perspective. Too much course critique though and not enough commentary on player"s shots.
Also should be noted they first covered the women's card and then went straight to the men's card without a break
Announcers, Barry Schultz was rocking grenades way back when in tournaments. Eagle is great, but there were others y'all!
Kevin Jones throws them a lot too.
I know Simon throws a similar shot quite a bit too. Kinda a mix between that pure vertical and a regular spike.
Nate dude made commentary blotchy with his constant interruptions. Uli couldn't hardly finish a thought and started anticipating being interrupted.
Sorry Nate, but Eagle's FH distance has been further yours for long time.

DISCatchers letting the boys down!
Eagle looks to the Heavens...but nobody cares. classic.
Is Nate going to be in any tournaments this year or do commentary for the rest of the year?
It’s nice to hear the disc and shot info, but I really like that Nate S. And Jeremy always focus on the individual players shots and describing the holes... I hope the final round doesn't get cancelled. Hate for anybody's weekend to get ruined.
Disc golf needs a standard for the baskets. That was ridiculous!
I've noticed a trend watching Ricky for years on camera: he doesn't typically play very well with players better than him on the same card. Sunday final round may get cancelled , big storms forecast again ...... April in Texas , it happens
Man it happens every year at this tournament:( hopefully not tho
Where is Nate and Jeremy at???
Love the coverage and commentary (could do with out all the comments about the baskets).
Eagles drive on 12!!!!! wow!!
C'mon, Harry Myers. Get some decent baskets out there.
So who, else, doesn't like the new layout?
Unpopular opinion: At this point Ricky deserves the spit outs. When you’ve seen as many spit outs/spit backs as Ricky has and have never changed your putt, at some point it’s your fault. You know what the baskets will do, and you don’t change.
Would be a fun idea to have the boys commentate on the girls round and vice versa just one time for fun. :D
Did Rick even let go of the disc dropping it in on 14?
And yes Nate, it skipped off the bridge lol
Where’s Nate Sexton been lately ?
Injured shoulder.

Hole 19 scorecard is also pretty wrong. Eagle birdie, Landon par, Ricky and Gavin bogey. It's also a par 3 where as the scorecard displays par 4.
Eric Stepp Thanks. 🤝 Will get it right next round. Hole 19 got us 🤪
👀👊
I see a bunch of Pros aren’t playing this tournament. A lot of guys are in Tennessee. Anyone know why they didn’t decide to play NHM?
I'm pretty sure Houck did 90% of the courses in Texas.
That bitch sucks ass. I hope he fucking suits designing and just eats moldy pudding instead.
Why is Paul ditching the NH this year?

Neon Kitty wins one tournament a year tops? No where near as consistent at mcbeast.
@Neon Kitty, and he can't find his belt loop.
@@joevegas7443 That proves me more right than wrong.
What's the putter pocket on Ricky's cart pole?
Unreleased design from Delta disc golf
I felt the commentator's downplay of the Follow Flight on Hole 11 was rude.
Hole 16 ....hilarious.
There had to be some missed shots on hole 10. Eagle and Landon threw 3 times. Gavin threw 4 times.
