Kia ora from Aotearoa. Mahalo nui nō keia mau ‘ike aloha kalo. We were given four huli last year and we are ready to harvest and I wanted to make sure the process we are following is based in ‘ike Hawai’i. My kids lineage is both Māori and Kanaka on their māmās side. So we have loved the kalo as a way to bring ‘olelo Hawai’i into their upbringing.
    Tēnā koutou 😊

I am always fascinated on how you turned something into many kind of dishes. They are so mouth watering 🤤! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.

We love kalo … so good to see someone related to Uncle Jerry keeping the tradition alive …. We may have different farming styles but the message at the end is the same … we need to support local food systems ! Good job on the video Aloha🤙

Thanks for your message and watching. The first people to settle on these Islands brought the taro with them. It was an important part of their diet and culture and still is today among local Hawaiians. It is grown in both “dry” soil and “wet” flooded field varieties. It is grown commercially in large fields and in small backyard plots. Mahalo
