I was happy with BTS doing really well this year for MAMA, and then I saw how Monsta X, GOT7 and EXO were treated and then I just- CANCEL THIS WHOLE DAMN SHOW.
Yeah, MAMA really needs to be taught a lesson. All artists should be treated fairly, they all work incredibly hard. And Jin was spot on. A true artist wants to win by their own merit. If they won all the awards due to voting bots, or manipulation, then that lowers the value of those awards in the eyes of the recipient. Kudos to him for showing how much respect they have for the work that they do, and that all Kpop idols do. They all work too damn hard to be disrespected by a crap award show.
As an exo-l, I really admired Jin because of how brave he was here. There are lots of ppl who always compare bts and exo and create wars abt them. But they don't realize that both really have each other's backs more than the ppl in sm have for exo. I stan these idols who are well-spoken and have good principles.
@@ishanmishra4991 Not quite, the industry was like chess not checkers, so BTS knew it was all abt the timing, mind you they were just starting to break through successfully in 2017, they weren't in a position in the industry back then to address such a sensitive issue, they were still considered just another boy group, so for Jin to say something like that early as of 2017 when they weren't getting the respect and recognition compared to 2019, it would've had a negative impact on them despite his good intention. But they waited til they had the power to address it and it was right in 2019 when the industry had lil power over them and everyone in it had no choice but to listen. A year later at GDA in 2020, RM was able to mention it again in their speech bcs the power they had even more so over the industry was without question. Jin knew he was able to speak abt it bcs even if there were powerful figures in the industry that wanted to tame him for saying it, they wouldn't have been able to bcs BTS were just too big compared to what they were in 2017. A lot of artists would've got hit hard negatively for addressing it, but they seemed to be the only one's who wasn't afraid to speak up abt it, and it was bcs of their success why they were able to. RM knew this as well so they used their platform to address it bcs it was a issue that interferred with the music world and it affected fellow artists in the industry and artists who were fighting just like them tryna make a name for themselves, their mission has always been to protect and heal others and that's part of the reasons why I also admired Jin and RM's bravery for speaking up abt it. As for BTS and Exo, no one should ever compare them when they're both amazing, I remember RM saying, "If your pain is 100 on scale of 100, if we can lessen that to even 99, 98 or 97. If we can only make it like that. With that, the value of our existence is enough." He knew what the mission and sole purpose was for an artist in this world, they're not doctors or lawyers but they're musicians who also play a part in saving lives in their own way, both BTS and Exo helped lessen the pain of their fans who went through tough times and the ones who're going through it, so their existence is enough and is needed in this world. They both bring out the best in people and deserve respect as leaders.👏🏽

EXO-l here, so no hate. But i think the bigger reason why Eco didn't attend was because 2019 wasn't exo's year. The group has always been too big (fame wise) to now be attending award shows where they don't win much. GOT7 has been disrespected by MAMA for years, we're used to it. In 2017 they won an entirely fan voted award that Mnet and the show sponsor had hyped up and MAMA didn't announce their win on stage, they handed it to the boys backstage and didn't give it any publicity. If it had been going to a bigger group they would have given it on stage, it was so disrespectful. Also in 2016 when they displayed their song as Hard Carry by Monsta X. They've never gotten it right with GOT7. They refuse to even hold their award show in Thailand because the crowd would mainly be GOT7 fans.
Winner or not, disrespected or not, you have to have your idols attend these events because it's about exposure. They have to be always visible to keep showing what they've got. You can always bring up an issue through different platforms but don't keep your idols out of the limelight.

Jin threw a shade? Don't make me laugh, he literally yanked the dirty covers of award shows and stated facts in the most polite, civil and respectful manner. This is an issue that has long been covered and ignored. Jin was right, music should be enjoyed and not criticized. MAMA just keeps getting ahead of themselves just because they think artists are desperate for awards. This just reminded me of the time G-Dragon dissed MAMA on their own stage. Now, that was epic. He is a very self aware young man, and a true artist. I am an EXO-L, but I admire the BTS boys. I think they do a lot of good with their music and success. You know they care about the music the most if they are saying they don't want people to cheat the votes or manipulate the votes. If they are good artists (which BTS is) it means so much more when they win fair and square.

The disrespect towards GOT7 and EXO is unreal, they really confiscated a table because of them flipping bottles, I've seen artists play with bottles like stack them and stuff and nothing happened because nothing should, they are just so petty, and the fact that they had so little performance time for such a well known and recognized group is just hard to believe, while some groups got about 35+ minutes, I feel really sad for some reason, I don't stan them but I can't imagine how they must be feeling, especially because some other members were sick :(

As an exo-l, I really admired Jin because of how brave he was here.

@@ishanmishra4991 Not quite, the industry was like chess not checkers, so BTS knew it was all abt the timing, mind you they were just starting to break through successfully in 2017, they weren't in a position in the industry back then to address such a sensitive issue, they were still considered just another boy group, so for Jin to say something like that early as of 2017 when they weren't getting the respect and recognition compared to 2019, it would've had a negative impact on them despite his good intention. But they waited til they had the power to address it and it was right in 2019 when the industry had lil power over them and everyone in it had no choice but to listen. A year later at GDA in 2020, RM was able to mention it again in their speech bcs the power they had even more so over the industry was without question. Jin knew he was able to speak abt it bcs even if there were powerful figures in the industry that wanted to tame him for saying it, they wouldn't have been able to bcs BTS were just too big compared to what they were in 2017. A lot of artists would've got hit hard negatively for addressing it, but they seemed to be the only one's who wasn't afraid to speak up abt it, and it was bcs of their success why they were able to. RM knew this as well so they used their platform to address it bcs it was a issue that interferred with the music world and it affected fellow artists in the industry and artists who were fighting just like them tryna make a name for themselves, their mission has always been to protect and heal others and that's part of the reasons why I also admired Jin and RM's bravery for speaking up abt it.
As for BTS and Exo, no one should ever compare them when they're both amazing, I remember RM saying, "If your pain is 100 on scale of 100, if we can lessen that to even 99, 98 or 97. If we can only make it like that. With that, the value of our existence is enough." He knew what the mission and sole purpose was for an artist in this world, they're not doctors or lawyers but they're musicians who also play a part in saving lives in their own way, both BTS and Exo helped lessen the pain of their fans who went through tough times and the ones who're going through it, so their existence is enough and is needed in this world. They both bring out the best in people and deserve respect as leaders.👏🏽

The group has always been too big (fame wise) to now be attending award shows where they don't win much. GOT7 has been disrespected by MAMA for years, we're used to it. In 2017 they won an entirely fan voted award that Mnet and the show sponsor had hyped up and MAMA didn't announce their win on stage, they handed it to the boys backstage and didn't give it any publicity. If it had been going to a bigger group they would have given it on stage, it was so disrespectful.
Also in 2016 when they displayed their song as Hard Carry by Monsta X. They've never gotten it right with GOT7. They refuse to even hold their award show in Thailand because the crowd would mainly be GOT7 fans.

This is an issue that has long been covered and ignored. Jin was right, music should be enjoyed and not criticized. He is a very self aware young man, and a true artist. I am an EXO-L, but I admire the BTS boys. I think they do a lot of good with their music and success.
