@@TheArtofGuitarI think you may already know about this by now, but the reason they named themselves metal maniacs is because the person who gave Metallica their name asked Lars about what he should name his radio show he asked Lars either metal maniacs or Metallica and then Lars asked if he could have the name Metallica for his band (but I'm sure you already knew this. I was just making sure:)
Wow, thank you so much man for mention! We really appreciate it! It's amazing video and it's really cool to see so much great and talented Metallica tribute bands, some of them we saw earlier heh. It's big honor for us to be in Metallica family, thanks again and thank you all fans for supporting! 🤟🏻
Coming back to this video, it's funny that Blistered Earth got the gear score it did considering their history. A number of years ago now, the bands gear got stolen. Lars actually heard about this, and reached out to them since Metallica knows all too well what that feels like. The band was given trucks full of replacements and Metallica gear to use including guitars, amps, drums, etc. So, the gear is quite literally Metallica's gear.
One tribute band I really dig is The Four Horsemen, they’re out of Ohio and have been playing about 16 years or so, they’ve delivered every time I saw them live
The Four Horsemen absolutely kills it.. I've saw them twice and they definitely don't disappoint. On top of the music they are also some of the most humble dudes I've ever met ..Definitely worth checking out, it's the closest thing you'll ever get to Metallica. In my opinion they're just as good and on top of that if you can't afford a $400 dollar ticket you just spend $25 and worth every penny 🤘
They are the best of the best I saw them last year I'm gonna see them again in 2 weeks. They have a great originality that makes them feel like an original band, they don't try to be metallica. Perfect playing and attitude.
I have seen Metal Maniacs in our local club. There were about 20 listeners, and all of them were just sitting and listening, exept me. But beside that they were so energtic on the stage and played many cool songs, they also played orion and whiskey in the jar, which are very rare. That was a fantastic show
I saw them last month in the Dallas area. I've seen Metallica three times, and TFH did an excellent job of recreating that same ferocious stage energy that I remember from the 80's and 90's.
Great video, Mike. I’m really happy you talked about Hardwired. The girl guitarist Jessica Di Falchi is the rhythm guitarist in one of my favorite bands, Crytpa, an all-female death metal band from Brazil. If you want to see her headbang like crazy I suggest checking out videos of Crypta. She really goes crazy live.
Scream Inc is a FANTASTIC tribute band. They have said James has even heard them play. They have a RUclips channel. They are phenomenal. I think they are Ukrainian but not sure.
They have definitely great management, very polished and professional recordings, however I don't consider them as a tribute, but a cover band. I have feel from them like they are playing Metallica songs in somehow modern, metalcorish style.
@@filiprabenseifner8858 "I don't consider them as a tribute, but a cover band. I have feel from them like they are playing Metallica songs in somehow modern, metalcorish style." expand, sounds pretty 1 to 1
I saw Hardwired live in Brazil last August. They put on an amazing show. The female guitarist played blistering leads, and their stage presence was spot-on. It was a sold-out venue of about 500 people. I hung out with the band after the show.
The female guitarist from Hardwired is Jéssica di Falchi, she's really good. Last year she joined the death metal band Crypta and if you haven't heard them yet you definitely should. And Jéssica headbanging a lot in Crypta, her stage presence has improved significantly since that performance with Hardwired. Check out the video "Crypta - Live at Wacken Open Air 2022"
I saw one called Moretallica in the UK a few weeks ago, they played the entirety of Kill Em All and then did a second set of songs from all over the albums, honestly they were really good!
over in North East England there's a Metallica tribute called Metal Militia, I actually know their bassist personally and met their lead singer when he came to my college with his LTD Iron Cross in hand I've seen their performance of Ride the Lightning on YT, pretty darn good!
Here in the north of England we have a Metallica tribute named metal militia. They’ve played the whole MoP album live multiple times. Me and my band have opened for them multiple times, they’re really awesome!
There is a "new wave of old school death metal" band from Estonia also called Intrepid. I saw them live and was speechless about their performance! The best band I ever discovered by chance...
The lead guitarist from Hardwired is in an all female Brazilian death metal band called Crypta. Check them out. Also, check out the Australian Metallica tribute Damage Inc.
"Metal Maniacs" was one of the names on a list a friend of Ulrich's had who was asking Lars about possible names for a fanzine; Lars saw "Metallica" on the list and kept it for himself and suggested "Metal Maniacs" for the 'zine. I did read that somewhere ages ago, could be why one of the bands here went with that name.
There is a pretty good Met. tribute coming to my city this year called The Four Horsemen. They sound pretty legit too. The singer's voice sounds a LOT like KEA era James.
I’m watching this video because The four horsemen are playing close to where i live aug 3ed and i was doing research on them. With your suggestion i might have to check them out!
@jeffsanders7691 go watch them! You won't be disappointed. Seen them twice and will watch them anytime they come here again. They only play music from the Black album and older.
I saw Hardwired live in September, and they absolutely killed it! I think the lineup was a bit different than the one shown here, but I’m happy they’re on this list regardless
Blistered Earth - If I am not wrong, thin guys are (in previous) a Thrash metal band called Forced Entry. Their 1991 year album is a masterpiece! Check it out!
I got to see Blistered Earth at an outdoor festival in October 2023. Based on their youtube videos I was pretty apprehensive going in to the show. They need to invest in some new video footage because what's online really undersells the band. They were playing the secondary stage at the festival and they won over the crowd in a way I haven't seen before. When they came on stage there were maybe 75 people watching. It pretty quickly grew to about 750 within two songs. They were just killing it! Watching them and their energy it was really easy to see how Metallica must have been in clubs in the early 80s.
Dude you need to look up battery Masters of Metallica. They're the only band that actually toured with Metallica for short time and they have two different videos of playing disposable heroes on RUclips
🤘🏻love this. New word invention Metalliquotient, awesome. Congrats on 804k Subscribers. I got another great Metallica tribute band from the UK they're called Metallica Reloaded. Ah come on man! I wouldn't put gear as a point on my list. Gibson guitars are way to expensive for us tribute folk. I'm In a Van Halen Tribute (Next Halen) It takes a long time to build all the accurate equipment up. I think it's more impressive when someone gets the tone down with the equipment they have. Getting the best out of the hand you're dealt. I would judge tones and rank tones higher that are using non metallica equipment. I do get the single bass drum thing. But sometimes the stage doesn't have enough room or you have a very limited time to get everything off the stage. 1 kick makes it jist a little bit quicker. So that we can all get back to rocking out together just as soon as possible.
HATTARI means FAKE in Japanese so the name Hattarica is really good naming for Metallica copy band for us, Japanese. Thank you very much pick Hattarica up on your video.
If you want to see all the hard songs played note for note and vocals are 89 James, that would be The Four Horsemen. Vocals are unmatched, drums are spot on note for note fast as hell. Guitar solos are perfect and bass thunderous. And they are the biggest in the nation managed by Brian Wheat of Tesla. You’re missing out if you don’t know.
Before 3 months I was by a band called metacillla, another tribute to metallica from germany, where I come from to; they looks like James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet in 2015, maybe you could make a video about it! I find the best tribute in this video is blistered earth
@the-art-of-guitar, I hope you get a chance to see this and respond. Very glad you did this video. Did you happen to see Scream Inc? Wondering your thoughts on them compared to these others you reviewed.
Medal Militia from Jacksonville is really good. The name is obviously a play on Metal Militia, but all the band members are military veterans, hence medal. They don't try to go for the look, and I couldn't care less. I care about how they sound and perform; and for both, they're top notch.
