    I love this! I was given this exact playhouse last week. We are missing the tabletop as well. Your idea for the table bottom for the missing part next to the door was genius! We were missing that piece as well. We also had no assembly hardware that we were able to order online for $10. Sooo excited to get it completed. We’re making it a replica of our house! Love these makeovers!

    The cozy coupe car is so awesome my daughter used to use it all the time and it was one of my favorite toys to play with it is so cute to play with outside😂😅🎉

    May I suggest investing in a comfort grip that clips on to the spray can. It reduces finger fatigue.

    thankyou so much for answering ill have to check out hobby lobby soon my daughter loves flowers and its coming along I did see your comment on the windows and its so hard i just spray painted on them and by being careful as well i had to use a different pink because there was not sweet pea here sad about that I used hot pink hope it comes out the same as yours I suck at painting!! the struggles we do for our babies and their happiness!! done a small house this home is def big i hope it fits in my living room lol

      But yes so true !! The things we do for them 😂😂 . I’m sure it’s going to turn out great ! I painted the window shutters separately and did both sides the same color so yes both are black ! :)

    Beautiful job!! I just bought this playhouse on Marketplace for my granddaughter. Trying to decide what colors I want to use. My husband thinks we should leave it “as is”. Ummm...no!! He loves the turquoise roof...I’m debating about keeping that. Decisions decisions 😃

      Thank you !! We are moving in a few months and I actually sold the playhouse and made a nice profit off it after all these years ;) . Update - the side facing the sun had damage but the opposite side looked great ! I wish I did a sealant coat or two every year to help so that’s the only thing I would truly change !

    Love the makeover. I picked up this exact house on Marketplace and I’m working on it now, but how in the heck did you remove the door, shutters, bay window, etc? I am struuuuuuggling. I’ve looked all over for videos of someone actually removing them and can’t find any.

      It took forever !! Honestly my husband just ripped it a part and it took a very long time to get it separated - there was no magic trick unfortunately 😮

      Very difficult to get to the windows off ! Putting them back together was difficult as well and made for lots of paint touch ups. Wish I had a better way of doing it but for us it was a lot of ripping apart 😁

      The black areas and pink areas looked fantastic 3 years later . The white side that faced the rising sun definitely showed some wear by the second summer but the side where the sun set looked great !

    How were you able to remove the door and shutters. I just bought one to makeover and have disassembled everything except door and shutters. Do you have any tips?

      Pamela Williams it definitely took a few tries ! Honestly my husband had to just balance his foot on the side walls and yank the doors/ shutters off . It was actually harder to put them back together than to remove them. I wish I had better tips but truly it was just a lot of yanking 🤦🏻‍♀️

      Oh it was rough ! My husband literally had to rip them off and it took SEVERAL tries ! We didn’t use anything except a lot of force 😂

    jeez, so much work on those burners! Maybe doing white first, then the copper on top may have been faster haha. Although it turned out perfect so I guess it still worked out in the end!

      I talked myself back and forth so many times on what to do first hah !! If I did the White first I wasn’t sure how to block it off to do the copper - didn’t want to put table directly down but I still don’t know what would have been faster ! 😂

    I am trying to refurbish this exact playhouse from when my daughter was a toddler for a new member of our family. HOW did you get the door and the shutters off? We have tried everything. We are clearly doing something wrong.

    We just got this same house for free! Someone set it out for the trash we cleaned it up. It is missing part of the roof. Doesn't have the phone. Also the sun roof. I looked on the step 2 website and they don't have this house on there any more. Thank you for the inspiration!

    This is so cute! I’m about to do the same with my kids playhouse I got from marketplace. So how’s the paint now are they still stay cute or chipped? Also which is better satin or flat?

      Thank you ! Yes truly everything has held up and no chipping at all :) . I liked the flat finish in general because it looked “ fuller “ and covered everything a little better , but the difference was minimal and both were great !

    Hello. What sealant did you use? I painted a step2 desk for my daughter and the spray paint just chips off so easily

      I just used rustoleam to seal it all in ! The area facing the sun chipped after a year or so but the side not facing the sun and the roof actually held up really well even a few years later ! Hope this helps

      Thank you Andrea ! In the areas with normal sunlight everything looks great - almost perfect now at 2 years out. The area with direct humidity and sunlight ( we live in South Carolina ) - that area needs lots of work ! I love the white but it is all chipped on the far right side from the sun. White is harder to do touch ups so in hindsight I would still do it as I did it originally but with a darker color on the outside!

      Honestly I didn’t and it’s been 5 months and no issues !! The white definitely shows “ dirt and debri “ but it comes off when I spray it down. Everything has surprisingly held up really well !

      Hi Chelsie! It is actually a "step 2" playhouse not little tykes but I did just go to the step 2 website and I don't see it at all! Wondering if maybe it was discontinued ;(

      The side not facing the sun was perfect after several years ! The white areas facing the sun definitely saw some use after 2 summers . The black roof held up great !

      Doorbell comes with the house ! I did have to go on the STEP2 website and order a new one that is designed to go with it due to water damage though so you can easily purchase one there :)

      Hi Shelley ! Paint is holding up perfectly in most spots! In areas where there is direct sunlight ( in our crazy, humid Charleston SC weather ) the white has chipped in some spots. I have to imagine a less humid environment wouldn’t cause that many issues , but again in areas where the sun isn’t on it all day the paint is perfect !

      Nope ! Used exactly what I listed and it covered everything ! I ended up buying one more of anything I completely ran out of for touch up areas , especially after you reassemble and things chip a little bit :)

    How was the temperature in the playhouse with the black roof? I'm really wanting to do it in black also but worried about the heat. Could you give any insight to that?

      Hi Crystal that’s a great question ! I don’t think the roof caused any issues although I’m sure with the heat it didn’t help , but what I do regret making black is the welcome mat because that was SUPER hot for my daughter’s little feet .

      I’ve been considering this !! Just for fun though I’ll note it here - the part where the sun hit held up for 1.5 years before I started noticing issues of the white peeling off. The black has held up everywhere just fine. The side of the house where the sun didn’t hit is holding up great !

      The side not facing the sun looked brand new and held up great ! The black roof turned out wonderful on both sides . The white / pink facing the sun definitely had some signs of use and I wish I would have down a sealant coat every 6 ish months to help with that !

      I am trying to paint a little tykes house for my son, I've used oil based primer made for plastic, krylon fusion paint and nothign sticks even after days in the sun. I don't know why it won't stick.

      Zero issues with rain or wind ! The one side that faced the sun definitely had some peeling by the end of the second summer but only the white parts and not the black roof !

      Hannah Sunde I haven’t had any paint problems so far- even in the sink ! I didn’t use a sealer coat , only a built in primer with the spray paint. I’m sure I will notice some wear and tear as the months go on but at the moment everything looks great !

      The side without the sun lasted 3 years !! The side with the sun showed wear just after a year ! The black stayed perfectly in place and it was just the white facing the sun that didn’t last

      @@mayrafernandez8964 the flowers were just random selections from hobby lobby that I put together ! I used actual dirt in a pot we had hanging around to make it sturdy and look more real ! Hope your transformation is coming along nice :)

    Sorry to ask another question... I just tried applying my vinyl welcome decal to my front door and it would NOT stick to the paint/door. What vinyl did you use or how did you add the “hello” touch?

      No worries !! It was hard to get it to stick at first but once I got it on I’ve had no issues :)

      How did you get it to stick? I received the “hello” decal you used but haven’t applied it yet.
      When I applied the one I made it just popped off in areas.

      @@karleestephens189 the decal stuck completely on its own and I was surprised I didn’t need to put anything over it to “ seal it “ . Been almost a year and it’s still on there ! Definitely took some time to make it stick how I wanted it but after being veryyyy patient I got it in the perfect spot and then just didn’t touch it again so I wouldn’t mess with it :)

    Does it take screws or bolts? Mine came with long wood screws, I’m not sure they are the original hardware

      No screws or bolts on the main body of the house . There are definitely screws on the smaller parts ( sink for example ) otherwise everything has a locking mechanism.

      @@thatcaitlinS I just scored the Little tykes “Endless adventures” playhouse” for $35 used, on marketplace and look forward to refurbishing for my grandson. A bundle of replacement parts can be ordered for $35, and I found the instructions online as well. I learned it takes 2 people to put together and it does lock and I was provided with long screws (not sure if they are original)but the hardware is also included in the parts package. I know my grandson who is one, will love it!

    Your house looks amazing. I was able to score this playhouse on Facebook marketplace today. I haven’t actually picked it up as yet, but am so excited to do a makeover.
    Can you please tell me did you just lay the house directly onto your grass or do you have anything underneath it?

      Yayyy that’s so exciting !! It’s such an awesome house . I had a drop cloth underneath the whole time however I HIGHLY recommend having a thicker, plastic paint tarp down, rather than the little thin plastic sheets I used . The paint stuck quite easily to mine and I had to do sections over. Good luck !!!!

      Sorry, I meant do you currently have your playhouse directly on the grass or you have it laying on top of anything?
      My husband and I are trying to figure out what we should lay the house on so grass and weeds do not grow inside the house.
      Also, do you have any final pictures of how the kitchen burners turned out?

      ameena bacchus oh ! Actually no we put it directly in the grass and although the grass/weeds grow around it we haven’t had any issues on the inside !! I do have pictures but not sure how to upload them 🧐. I ended up buying some paint pens to make the lines extra sharp !!

      Also, I wanted to say thank you for showing how you used the table legs for the rails to place the mailbox.
      The house I got didn’t come with the rail or welcome mat. I plan on just getting an outdoor welcome mat and using your hack. I love the little mailbox you got. It’s so cute.

    I’ve seen people use chalk paint. Ive used that plastic paint and done it the correct way but it eventually chips off

    You could of just bought 2.5 gallons of pool bleach and water put 50/50 mix in a pump sprayer.No pressure cleaner. Let it sit in direct sunlight and let it dwell for 30 minutes the hose it down with water. It will melt all the dirt, grime, and algae like butter. And a new looking playground

      Hey Jeanette ! It was definitely fun getting it a part :) the bay window ended up being hard to put BACK ON and we scraped some paint as we did that. Honestly it was a lot of yanking and prying with screw drivers / tools and there wasn’t an easy solution. I’m pretty sure my husband just kept yanking until something would pop out :):)

      Hi - I’m not sure I understand your comment . I did not add any door knobs. I repainted the existing ones that come with the house. I’m also not sure how doorknobs would confuse my child ?? It’s just for fun ! Thanks for watching
