Only one? Get used to playing him without WR2. I see too many Claudios rely on it because people at lower ranks abuse it and opponents don't duck it or step it. All of a sudden people start ducking it and Claudio's gameplan falls apart. It's better to be more comfortable with ff4 and run up b1 than it is WR2. Yes eventually incorporate it, but in general I'd learn without it first and add it later. Getting a lightning fast WR2 is tough.
@@Zedd_FGC Ha yeah just one cause I know your time is limited, and I’m certain it would be one that could point me in the right direction and it was! I learned this lesson with Shaheen (my main), I was able to abuse his WR2 for a while but once I hit purple ranks more people started counter playing it.
Well it's fine with WR mids to be honest. But Claudio's being a high is dangerous. If you want another tip, get good at confirming the DF3 string. If you can do that somewhat consistently, it makes for a really strong wall game, without it, all they have to do is block until you commit to df31.
Glad to be of help! 3+4 isn't very good even in that situation tbh. I'd rather use db1+2. 3+4 is punishable and whiffs if the opponent does any techs or get ups. I only use it on medium range splats after b4,2 or something like that, when it's guaranteed. I wouldn't use it otherwise. Uf2 or db1+2 will do similar jobs depending.
Love the video bro!! Defo need to start using the zed special more often 😂 Do you think you could prolly make a combo / wall combo video? Appreciate your videos!!
Thanks for this vid! Lots of great info. I'm new to Tekken and picked Claudio as my first main to learn with. Could you maybe make a short video on what mixup options to use when I'm plus on block? Like if they block Ira, I'm +6 OB, or f+4 is +4 OB. What do I do with that frame advantage to open them up? The way I'm trying to understand and learn things right now is what are my good options when I'm significantly plus (+4ish) , slightly plus (+1 off jab or b+4,1), and slightly negative (-1 or -2). You mentioned in this video how you can kind of cheekily "fish" for a hopkick or db+1+2 launcher even when negative, but I actually don't know what do when I'm plus since he doesn't have a traditional high/low mix.
Yeah that's a great question and very contextual. I plan to make a video detailing that aspect of the game with Claudio, so keep an eye out for that. Otherwise, if you catch my stream, we can talk about it anytime as well. To give you an answer right now: if they armor, use throws; if they challenge with fast moves, use CHs like df2 or f3; if they try to move and evade, use b+1 or b+3; if you're plus, you can add the option to use WR2 again (if you have the mental stack you can WR2 many times in a row); if you're a bit minus you can move or armor or df+2 or db+1+2.
thanks for the reply, I'll look for that video! what days/times do you stream? usually I struggle when the opponent just blocks or challenges with fast moves like jabs, even when I'm plus. Like I could hit my own jab to beat them, but he doesn't get good reward off that, and I didn't know what else to do. so I guess I need to use more moves that can reward me on CH like f3 or df2. if they just keep blocking and respecting my plus frames, I guess I go for a slower plus move like WR2 or F4, or mix in a SS.4 or HS? @@Zedd_FGC
Most days of the week in the evenings. Today for example, I'll be streaming at around 6pm PST. You can do any of that, yes, but it all depends what they are doing and what gameplan you are enforcing. Consider the situation too. Are you at the wall, low HP, are they winning in rounds, are they playing big or small Tekken, what CH options do they have, how effective are their jab strings etc. You're right though, Claudio's jab string is probably the worst 10f in the game other than arguably Asuka, and even then they are probably tied. All these things matter and take practice to understand. I'm new to Tekken, but I learned all this playing and competing in Soulcalibur. Same fundamentals.
Yeah I'm experienced in 2d games so I get what you're saying about everything is situational, but where I'm at now I just need some mental flowcharts so I have a good autopilot. I prefer going for safe, lower risk offense in other games but it seems for Claudio and maybe Tekken in general you have to accept more risk. Like if I'm +6 after WR2 and I go for f3/df2 looking for a CH, they could duck the f3, or block punish the df2. Obviously everything has counters but I wish he had a really safe mixup. I guess I could do like df+3,1 since it's hit confirmable maybe? @@Zedd_FGC
Yeah he doesn't have any mixup to be honest with you. If you want a basic choice, go with b+3. B+3 is a good way to see what they do. Do they duck? You hit them. Do they step? You hit. Do they try and swing? You hit them. B+3 only loses to armor and even then, that's when you can work in a jab or throw or low instead. Does that work for ya for now? WR2, then decide to do 1 of 3 things: WR2 again, FF+4, or B+3. I can show you and teach basic flowcharts on stream no problem, just lemme know :)
Been really stressed out with claudio, zero mix up and very honest character 😢 im maining him since t7 and nothing change, got no combo dmg and the only thing that justified claudio stupidity is b1 and ss4 for wall pressure. we need something new from bandai
Same bro they might as well not even have put Claudio in this game with how sorry he is. Every other character playing super smash bros with all the BS they can throw at you
He's got some irreplaceable tools, but yes his design is a stronger character than T7, issue is he doesn't fit the game super well. Some of us are making it work, but he does need some love.
I think the STB WR 1+2 really needs to be a mid, like that would make it worth the resource cost. But it having all the same counters as WR2 just to be +6 instead of +8 ; like what's the point 🤷♂🤷♂ some characters have WR mid moves that give plus frames already without a resource lol
Nice video sensei!!
Learning a lot about Claudio with your videos!
Gonna try doing the Zedd Special in matches now
Haha excellent, glad I can help!
What an awesome video idea! Really fun and insightful to watch.
Thank you!

Haha thanks bro!
Bro. Thank you so much for the video. I’m new to Tekken and as a Claudio main, this video definitely helped me learn a lot. Subbed to you, Sir.
Also random question, is 3+4 useful when the opponent is on the ground only, or are there any other uses for it?

Yeah maybe soon. His combo theory is being fleshed out mostly now anyways. On my day 1 guide, the written doc has most of the good combos.
Hi Zedd, I have been a subscriber and a follower since soul calibur, keep up the good work.
Hey thank you for your long term support!! I appreciate you.
47:20 that's crazy
