Ren got sick over a decade ago after treating for several things they tell him it's all in his head and spent the next 6 years being bounced between various psyc drugs. Turns out he had Lyme disease the whole time. It's very late stage and aggressive. He did some stem cell treatment here in the states a couple years ago but only brought temporary relief. He is now in Canada for 6 months receiving treatment. This man is a ledgend. Check out EVERYTHING he has done. Ren is amazing and from his singing songs, rap songs, and Bard type storytelling experiences he is beyond phenomenal. Sick Boi, The tale of Jenny and Screech (full), and chaulk outlines are the best way to dip your toes in his various styles. From there just keep digging and enjoy.
This post isn't about the reaction or specifically the music. It's about what's going on when people see and experience this particular amazing masterpiece. Since we all have inner demons that we have to deal with. Whether it's doubt, self esteem, addiction or mental health issues. Because of that, it's so relatable to people in all walks of life. I have seen people sharing incredible stories of the struggles that they deal with daily and how they cope with it. I've seen people encouraging folks to get help and where. Things are being discussed that before weren't even whispered. There is a connection being built in an unusual place. Each other. So many people are now hearing from so many others.... That it really is true, you are not alone. Even if that's all you feel. There is someone out there that feels that too. I think that with one song he proved to me. He IS a genius and the waves he spoke of seem to be tsunami in size. I just thought it's a wonderful thing and deserves attention.
I saw a quote in another reactor's comments something along the lines of "When you leave a play and talk about it was good. When you leave and talk about your life it was great." Describes this rabbit hole. Great!
I have been following this video in particular lately; like a repeating rabbit hole with one intensive level. I want to see all the perspectives from teacher, to various ages, and genre specific, to songwriters, singers, and preachers. It has been awesome to see this amazing performer getting his due from new audiences. Thank you for sharing it with the viewers and I.
Great reaction. You clearly recognise Ren's creativity, talent and brilliance. I have been watching Ren performing live for seven years and it is great that he is finally going global. Another great thing about his music is that it is encouraging other people to discuss and share their own mental health issues. The stigma is melting, slowly but surely. If you want to watch something hauntingly beautiful, check out Chalk Outlines (live). Also, watch some of his busking videos with The Big Push to hear his beautiful singing voice. Enjoy!
New sub, great reaction! Discovered Ren, 'Hi, Ren' about two weeks ago. Been stuck in a Ren rabbit hole since-The world has been blessed by this man. ❤️🔥 with love from TN
Thanks so much Brad. I know you prob don't want a ton of other Ren suggestions at this point, but I highly recommend you at least check out Chalk Outlines (live) with Chinchilla. It is simply stunning and in a very different way than Hi Ren is stunning. Having watched your reactions for a while now, I guarantee you'll be blown away. It is also not 9 minutes long and it is a song that is entirely sung lol. Cheers!
@BradSteele Bro... you wanna see some Incredible guitar... and Amazing storytelling... do his, or at least watch, his Jenny and Screech trilogy! Just make sure it's the Full version! It has all 3 shirt stories/songs, in one video, in the right order!
This one does actually have edits unlike many other Ren videos. Check out Jonathan Hiller's (Filmmaker Reacts) reaction to Hi Ren and in the comments you'll find Ren's cinematographer Samuel Perry-Falvey explain how they did this.
@hmo_mackey valid points. The camera cuts technically make it not one take but that's splitting hairs. After reading Samuel's comments the close up part was indeed from a separate take. Doesn't diminish the stunning show of talent on display!
I just love watching reactions to this song where the people have never heard of Ren (like me the first time I saw it) Wow, nice guitar What is that?!?! But the singing sounds good! Oh! He's talking to himself. Wow, this is deep (Staring at the screen for a while) Lol Eminem did it! Oooh! Creepy! Amazing guitar! Whaaaaat?!?!? He sings beautifully! Loosens the noose in the rope! Wow what a line Yesss! Whoa, that speech was very, very wise Quiet reflection I've got to hear his other stuff! Search search search.
Great reaction. Watching everybody's reactions is extraordinary. We all get it. Enough to do something about It! Ren has shown us/ opened our eyes to the many layers of what's going on with our kids. And how we all can do our part to listen. Just one layer. Medication is a problem. Another layer... so many layers. We can recognize it. We're intelligent enough to do something about It. This is a huge shift. We needed this. Thank you everybody
You should definitely check out his stuff featuring Chinchilla (Chalk Outlines and How to be Me - the live versions of both). Also Crutch featuring Bibi, also his live busking video with Sam Tompkins, the one that includes Man’s World. His singing is masterful.
Thanks for your reaction. Not many note that the dark shadow Ren was returning as if swinging back into the picture at the start of the dance lesson. In hindsight with his spoken word ending in mind, I think this starts the swing back into darkness for the pendulum as the back-and-forth speeds up again at the beginning... Like a hand may have been holding the pendulum in the light for a time before releasing it to swing back into shadow. Makes me think about the hand. Coping mechanism or Divine Will?
This was crazy because I just "watched" this video about an hour ago and really didn't like it, didn't get it. I was driving and wasn't fully paying attention but when I just watched it again, I thought it was amazing. It starts out sounding like Enter Sandman on the guitar and then the first part of the rap sounds like an Eminem track, but then it becomes it's own creation and got better as it went along.
Live yes, but not done in one take. Still a masterpiece though! Check out Jonathan Hiller's (Filmmaker Reacts) reaction to Hi Ren and in the comments you'll find Ren's cinematographer Samuel Perry-Falvey explain how they did this.
Please please please react to The 1975 - About You live at Madison Square Garden! It’s an amazing performance. I saw them live a couple weeks ago and it’s the best concert I’ve ever been to!
Hey man. I liked the video as soon as you started singing. I'll be checking out your stuff! Subbed. Edit to add: Disappointed you didn't subscribe to Ren immediately. Bad youtuber! 😆 Also amused that "twat" made it past your mute button.
Please react to the masterpiece that is a trilogy of 3 songs woven together to make the most bind blowing story and plot twist...The tale of Jenny and Screech..(FULL)..which includes Violets Tale 3rd...which MUST be watched in that order.
The voices in his head were also Satan vs Jesus. The lines at the end were taken from Revelations in the Bible in which Jesus will defeat Satan. "As above so below" as Ren always says. What is in the heavens is also inside of us, just like the universe looks like the neurons in our brain.

It's funny that you mute F**k but you don't mute tw@t 🤷♂️🤣 If you're wanting to PG the song you should really mute all the cussing 🤣 This to me, is worthy of a Grammy. And it's quite ironic that he mentions his music is doing bits too, then releases this and blows up. Ren is a true artist, and I'm glad he found the strength to release this masterpiece. Some say it's this generations Bohemian Rhapsody. Check out the full version of Jenny, Screech and Violet... another set of amazing artistic performance. Just shows you don't need a big budget to make a big song.
Glad to see you click off the lyrics. Why on earth anyone would want to read along with any song the first time they listen to it is completely alien to me.
Kind of funny but kind of sad that you felt the need to censor out a word that nearly any twelve year old wouldn't be shocked by these days. Bless your virgin ears I guess.
Cant believe you censored parts of the lyrics bro. You as an artist can understand the message and the feelings those words have in thid song...dissapointed bro !!!

This is the first reaction I have seen of yours but I’m glad to see you are going down the Ren rabbit hole. Welcome to the renaissance! Nice react 🖤

Awesome reaction, man.... it's one beautifully chaotic rabbit hole. Enjoy & spread his music as far as possible.

I love when you said "sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug." Brilliant
Great reaction. Smart man!! Both of you.
Jenny’s tale, screech’s tale, violets tale. (Full) in that order.
Enjoy :)
That was art.

Also worth noting this, and many others of his, are one take live recordings
not one take, 4, but definitely live!
Yes on the 4th try, but considered a "one take" performance as it was recorded start to finish and not edited together.

Best video I have seen in years. Ren is gift. A modern day bard. He can sing, play, write, rap, act - and deliver a message we need.
Insanely brilliant 👏
I just love watching reactions to this song where the people have never heard of Ren (like me the first time I saw it)

More Ren please!! The trilogy!!
I loved your reactio. Also, you have a beautiful singing voice.
Enjoying your reviews, you are more perceptive than most and really know your stuff. Good music too ;)

ART...
The only other song of his I have heard is "Sick Boi", which is also deep and powerful.
Look at "The Hunger"
“Sometimes we’re the windshield and sometimes we’re the bug”
Money game part 1 and 2 as well
Thanks for your reaction. Not many note that the dark shadow Ren was returning as if swinging back into the picture at the start of the dance lesson. Please check out his live performances with Chinchilla: How to be me and Chalked outlines, you won't regret🔥🔥🔥
I second chalk outlines, its unbelievable.
I second any Ren.
You are gone by to gain a bunch of subbs!! Ren is really something. Do a deep dive, you’ll love it!! Subbing and 👍🏻!!!!
Guess this was a live performance, this video was the 4th take.
Live yes, but not done in one take. Still a masterpiece though! Check out Jonathan Hiller's (Filmmaker Reacts) reaction to Hi Ren and in the comments you'll find Ren's cinematographer Samuel Perry-Falvey explain how they did this.
Great reaction! You should check out Ren x Chinchilla “Chalk Outlines”. He sings in it. Amazing talent!

Nice K.O. shirt.
That look at 9:30 is just perfect

Done Live in 1 take with a bad go with Lyme's disease if that makes this more impressive

I usually censor every questionable word and I must have just missed that one 😂 thanks for watching!
Not sure if you've heard it yet, but if not do the trilogy of Jenny and Screech.
Is that a KO shirt you're wearing ?
You bet
@Brad Steele my favorite performer on the roster. Great reaction to this absolute master piece btw
If you want to hear him sing sing, check out Ren "Chalk Outlines featuring Chinchilla" Amazing song and lyrics. Their voices harmonize perfectly.
Awe this is PG
