Thanks for posting! I had the same problem with my Volt system . It was also a short in a bulb. Took a bulb I knew was good & started replacing the other bulbs one at a time until I found the bad one (didn't trip the breaker). Saved me a lot of time!! Thanks!!!
Thanks! Just the hint I needed. I removed all the bulbs in the leg that was tripping the breaker, then turned it back on, added the bulbs back one by one and the last bulb sent of a puff of smoke.
Genius! I was about to start pulling wires until I saw this. Low and behold it was the 2nd bulb in my Volt system I checked out of about 50 options, so lucky there. I will be calling them tomorrow for a replacement.
Thanks for this! I had the same issue today and it was the third light I looked at. I was worried that I had to dig up over 120 metres of cable. It was a pagoda style path light that I guess just gave up the ghost. It was 11 years old it had a good life. Thank goodness I had an extra in the garage...those things are dang expensive!
Thanks for this. The comment about the smell was very helpful. I separated two leads, just like in the video, and all except 1 light then worked without tripping the internal breaker. I also zoomed in to the faulty light by smell alone.
This guy is spot on, yes problem fixed due to a bad spotlight that shorted out the entire system. A huge thank you!
Wow, thank you so much for sharing your experience. This is helped me tremendously diagnosing several customers systems without digging up all wiring.
Glad to help brother
