When the father offers Ralphie the red ryder bb I always get tears in my eyes. I am 51 but when I watch this movie I always feel like a kid again. Great movie one of my all time favorites. Merry Christmas to everyone.
Jean Shepherd was an excellent writer and did a great job in writing this movie. He was also the Narrator, and the Man in the department store in Line for Santa. He asks Ralphie " Hey kid, just where do you think your going? RIP Jean Shepherd.
The Santa and the elves just hate their jobs, and want the store to close so they can get the hell out of there. But Ralphie (and the movie's point of view) interprets their attitudes as scary and creepy. That's brilliant film making.
this was the best part of the movie! I was in a band back in the esrly 80s and our Lead Guitarist Tom Jordan took our band to see this movie at the theater in December 83. I nearly passed out from laughing at this part of the movie!
I think if they worked in today's climate they would have been much more passive aggressive & more subtle with their behavior. Unless they really didn't give a shit who knew how they felt.
It's also possible that they were grumpy from working all day (with plenty of the kids being total crybabies, presumably) and wanted to wrap things up and go home.
My dad and I were walking around the mall yesterday and seriously considered going up to the Santa Clause just to tell him we wanted a football and then correct ourselves and say we wanted a Red Rider BB gun.
I love this! From the moment the kids get up to Santa neither the elves or Santa want them there. Then they finish it by shooting your ass down a slide. LMFAO! Awesome! The ulitmate visit to Santa.
it was missed by me until this year and one of the 6 or 7 times i watched it, but they gave a perfect hint as to how the movie will end by the old man saying, "he knows, he always knows." he was actually planting the idea that HE will be the one who gives ralphie the gun, that he knows he wants it. you can see the joy on the old man's face when he tells it to ralphie. it makes the scene of ralphie opening the gun that much sweeter
"How about a nice football?" " Football? Football? What's a football? With unconscious will my voice squeaked out 'football'." "Okay, get him out of here." "A football? Oh no, what was I doing? Wake up, Stupid! Wake up!" " No! No! I want an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle!" "You'll shoot your eye out, kid."
I thought i was the only one tripping out on how this guy yells out HO! HO! HO! Really loud over and over again. And the attitude of the elves is ridiculous child abuse by today's standards.
2:41 I never understood why the Santa seems nice at the end. Is the point that is what he looks like from far away or that Ralphie thought he was mean, but he wasn't?
😏 Poor ralphie, he thought that he could get a Red Rider BB gun if he asked Santa Claus. Which by the way Santa had turned him down. He was shocked when Santa said you'll poke your eye out kid. But in the end ralphie got one anyway
It's been scientifically proven that fake white beards have been known to frighten young children, whereas men who naturally look like Santa Claus don't scare them at all.
I like how Santa was only nice at the very end lol when Ralphie and his family were leaving

I am SO glad TBS plays this for 24 hours on CHRISTMAS EVE. I love this movie so much I have a Ralphie as Red Ryder tree ornament in some of my videos.
Seriously one of the most hysterical things ever. This movie is a masterpiece.
Lmao, the slow moving of the boot into Ralphies POV and Santa's slow Hohoho before pushing him just slightly and Ralphies "Nooo!" XD
That little bit of music right as his smile melts is funny too!
So proud of our founder and dearest dad.
Miss you so much!!!!!
Greatest Santa who shines every day in our hearts.
It is a tradition in my family to watch A Christmas Story every single year
Or watch a fucking marathon of it. Seriously I watched it so many times as a child I don't want to watch it anymore.
freezaplanet419 I watch the marathon too! Its kinda old if i think of it! but i still like 2 watch it every single year :/
I keep having this recurring nightmare where it's almost midnight on Christmas Eve and I totally forgot to watch it once during the Holidays.
@Matthew Urbon I do
Me too and my family love it so much it is such a amazing Christmas movie and a classic movie too ralphie flick and Schwartz are bff
Hysterical scene!! R.I.P. Jeff Gillen-a performance for the ages! :)
"And what's your name little boy?" LOL at that evil voice.
He should have said ralphie Parker
He just really misses flick and Schwartz so much I wish they did live together
The Santa and the elves just hate their jobs, and want the store to close so they can get the hell out of there. But Ralphie (and the movie's point of view) interprets their attitudes as scary and creepy. That's brilliant film making.
I just watched it several times in a row on tbs. They have a marathon every Christmas.
haha...Santa staring down at Ralphie like some indifferent god.
this was the best part of the movie! I was in a band back in the esrly 80s and our Lead Guitarist Tom Jordan took our band to see this movie at the theater in December 83. I nearly passed out from laughing at this part of the movie!
Which was funnier to you, the rude elves or the evil Santa?
You'll knock your cords out,Kid! 🥳
Funnest part of the movie. Oh I cant wait to watch this all day on Christmas!!!!
Randy is traumatized...Ralphie is PISSED! lol
Yeah pretty much
Now a days, those two employees who were the elves would have been fired instantly for their attitude.
that's precisely why they've worked at walmart for 15-20 years lol
I think if they worked in today's climate they would have been much more passive aggressive & more subtle with their behavior. Unless they really didn't give a shit who knew how they felt.
Or have an angry mother after them.
You'll shot your eye out kid! Classic Line!
I've been watching this movie for Christmas every year since 2013! It's become mandatory for me.
His face while he's just lying in the snow. Haha
Classic. Best scene in any movie ever made ever.
The elves are hysterical! Classic!!
I love a Christmas story so much
I would love to visit this Santa. That slide looks like fun.
That Santa & 2 elf assistants should be sued for their hatred and evilness
I don't know but Santa and his elves are quite cruel.
I was 7 years old when this movie came out then.
Makes me scared of Santa
Just like any other worker who don't give shite bout their jobs...they just wanna piss off home from a long day 🙄🤷
It's also possible that they were grumpy from working all day (with plenty of the kids being total crybabies, presumably) and wanted to wrap things up and go home.
@@pyromania1018 true
This part is hilarious!!! I love this scene
Santa giving Ralphie a confused look like, "What the hell is wrong with him? "
Damn, that mall Santa and his elves (teenagers dressed like them) are cruel. Worst time of Christmas that could ruin your childhood. Poor Ralphie.
Wow, those elves are much more rude than that Santa was Robert Mahorney for you my friend
Best Christmas movie scene ever!
Best Christmas movie ever
What I like best about this movie is how realistic it is.
My dad and I were walking around the mall yesterday and seriously considered going up to the Santa Clause just to tell him we wanted a football and then correct ourselves and say we wanted a Red Rider BB gun.
LOL LEGO needs to recreate this!
LOL, My favorite christmas story of all time. Classic! ; )
Me too
"NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" haha! metal.
I love this! From the moment the kids get up to Santa neither the elves or Santa want them there. Then they finish it by shooting your ass down a slide. LMFAO! Awesome! The ulitmate visit to Santa.
“GET GOIN’!” ☹️
Lol the train sound effect when his face drops
it was missed by me until this year and one of the 6 or 7 times i watched it, but they gave a perfect hint as to how the movie will end by the old man saying, "he knows, he always knows." he was actually planting the idea that HE will be the one who gives ralphie the gun, that he knows he wants it. you can see the joy on the old man's face when he tells it to ralphie. it makes the scene of ralphie opening the gun that much sweeter
Christ, those elves are sadistic!! %-D
"Merry Christmas. Ho...Ho....Ho (pushes him away)" LOL
Oh, I hate the smell of tapioca.
Ralphie's face at 1:55 and 2:05 was hilarious.
Love Randy's screaming at 0:14! It's like "AAAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUH! TWEEEEET! TWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
My favorite part!
How would you like to have the job of a Dept. store Santa?
If they think I'm staying one minute past nine they can kiss my foot. HO HO HO!
I think Santys had a few too many,,,
youll shoot your eye out kid lol. ralphies smile is amazing lol
Santa's right about that!
"Bad Santa's" dad was the guy up in the costume I bet. XP
I have no clue how santa understood what he said, he said it so fast. Lol
I just watched a play on this movie at the local theater. They added two girls to the story, it was good!!!!
This is the best.

Ralphy Is So Cute!!! :)
@aaahshaddap
You're a manager at a mall? :?

My favorite scene from A Christmas Story. R.I.P. Jeff Gillen.
He played Santa
@DeltaAirlinesFlyer I thought the female elf was totally intimidating but Santa and the male elf wasn't too bad

I'd be like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah!"

"How about a nice football?"
" Football? Football? What's a football? With unconscious will my voice squeaked out 'football'."
"Okay, get him out of here."
"A football? Oh no, what was I doing? Wake up, Stupid! Wake up!"
" No! No! I want an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle!"
"You'll shoot your eye out, kid."
HOOOOOOOOO! HOOOOOOOOOO! HOOOOOOOOOO!
@greendragonkiller
You should make a ytp combining that w/ this scene. Plz do, it'd be funny! T_T
The fun is mandatory.
Pause quickly at 0:42, you can see Ralphie making frowny, cringy like Face. Maybe he pissed his pants because of that creepy ass Santa. LOL.
I love the toe shove down the slide.
This movie references Wizard of Oz and both films could not have had better casts.
Poor Ralphy - hes completely deflated.
I thought i was the only one tripping out on how this guy yells out HO! HO! HO! Really loud over and over again. And the attitude of the elves is ridiculous child abuse by today's standards.
1:50 his smile
Quickly gone
I love this movie so much
Quickly changed at 1:55

After all this time, I finally found the movie that almost made me scared of Christmas, at age 6...

Classic movie
He knows (ho's), he always knows (ho's)
that kid and the santa group freak me out
Everyone, do you agree with me that the Santa , sounds like The Late John Candy?
John Candy had a whiny sounding voice. So no, I disagree.
2:41 I never understood why the Santa seems nice at the end. Is the point that is what he looks like from far away or that Ralphie thought he was mean, but he wasn't?
😏
Poor ralphie, he thought that he could get a Red Rider BB gun if he asked Santa Claus. Which by the way Santa had turned him down. He was shocked when Santa said you'll poke your eye out kid.
But in the end ralphie got one anyway
I know this was the 1940’s and all, but who the heck would wear a suit and tie just to go see Santa at the mall???
Ralphie
To be fair, Randy was wearing a suit too, and a bow tie.
Santas had a few too many,,,
@1963Pure
Wow, you still have VHS? XD
Shut the fuck up.
Theres a picture of me with santa when i was 3 or so. I was crying.
It's been scientifically proven that fake white beards have been known to frighten young children, whereas men who naturally look like Santa Claus don't scare them at all.
HO, HO, HO!!!
HURRY UP KID, THE STORE'S CLOSING!
this movie is awesome.😍😜😘😙😒
I no right it is awsome
Funniest Christmas movie ever.
From the director of black christmas
I actually got a football once for Christmas.
Kind of reminds you Satan. Like you just realized your in hell and they throw you down the slide.
Those elves are kinda mean. No sense of patience and lack of joy.
