Radiator cover? And then you could paint it and use it as a decor sideboard piece. Also easy to change when you get the itch-to-switch! 😁 fantastic colour and painting skills. So happy for you and love you talking through your thoughts and taking us through the process with you. Great video! 👍🏼
I'd get a gas wood-burning stove, given that you've got mains gas already. So much less hassle than wood, sooo much cheaper to run than electric, and virtually indistinguishable from an actual wood burner because of the real flames. You can get them 100% efficient and the heat they throw out is crazy. Love the new wall colour 💖 and sis got a steady hand!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Can you build a sideboard around/Encompassing the rad? Diyhuntress on YT did that & it looks great. Attached to the wall & allows the air flow. I like the idea of relocating the fireplace to allow a better layout. Or fix the gas component & mount your TV above the fireplace.
Best thing is to live in a house for at least 6 months before you start to make the big changes. Painting rooms you can easily change, always good to freshen a room after the previous owners. You are great at diy so just take your time and enjoy planning ahead.
Very nice colour. Love it. I'm glad you mentioned you liked the deep coloured wood because both sets of doors look a bit orange and would look great in that dark stain. On the more practical level now, there is a reason why radiators are white - they radiate the most heat when white. Something to consider as the energy costs are high. ❤😉
When I bought my present home it had a fireplace with a gas fire on my only unobstructed wall. I personally don't like a fireplace on a flat wall ( without a fire breast), so my son and I removed it and capped off the gas supply ( he is a registered gas fitter). I now had a lovely wall to do with as I pleased and no TV stuck in the corner of the room. So I would definitely remove the fireplace as it would give you so many options.
The living room looks beautiful , great paint choice looks amazing .....the bay window is lovely I would have the curtains on the outer wall having them inwards around the windows closes up all that area just a thought , a nice cover over the radiator would be lovely , love the idea of burnt orange cushions that would pop with a nice sage/lime color which would really compliment the natural woods in the room , good luck with the wall lights ......you have beautiful ideas Shade Shannon Thank you for a wonderful video .....
LOVE LOVE LOVE the colour. Very warm and cosy perfect for the space and also a great choice for the Georgian theme. With the scale of the room the wall lights can be far bigger than the ones you have. Depending on your media unit; whether that’s staying or the tv will go above the fireplace, will also need to be taken into consideration for the scale of lights you buy. If your planning on moving the radiators then I wouldn’t. The more paint layers on a radiator will reduce the heat outlet so just be mindful of this. Can always buy a radiator cover or have a built in around this radiator to have the top half as a Welsh dresser just a little thinner in depth. Bottom half to have storage each side encompassing the rad cover. It’s such a large wall so you could get away with a custom built in. Window treatment wise the bay window would suit shutters which will make it super lux and go with the Georgian theme. To soften the space you can then add floor to ceiling light weight curtains purely for aesthetics only and have your coving hide the tracks. The back windows I would wait for now till you replace them. Fireplace is not original to the house so could completely rip out and start again. Personally I would add an alcove; so build out the fireplace area to add some character. As you’re going with a Georgian theme have you considered a limestone fireplace? Just be careful with the modern fireplace (although I love them) it could be a difficult mix with the pure Georgian theme you’re going for. Georgian theme interiors always involved rich toned woods so walnut and Jacobean oak. Don’t forget that beige and grey work perfectly together. I’d keep the marble table as it adds another texture which will be muted with a rich rug. Introducing pops of colour like amber and Emerald are Devine Georgian colours. I think keeping the grey with black piping would also be a nice mix with some light beige cushions or throws. One thing to also consider, if you are set on buying the corner fireplace then I’d keep the black theme running throughout. (It keeps that modern edge going) Black doors, black lamp. Or if you want the traditional Georgian feel painting the doors a light beige will be stunning. X
Heyyyyy, just wanted to say I’ve watched RUclips for the last 12 years 😬 I’ve been so tired and over it for the last few. However, yours is the only channel I still come here for; yours is the only channel I’ve ever had my notifications turned on for. I don’t care how much or little you post, I’ll still be here watching your content. I swear you’re the only real person left. I think you’re fab, and i love this colour! Much love 💕
It's so beautiful Shade. Such a transformation. Totally with you on the Dark Wood, it goes better with the scheme. When you say board up the fireplace, do you mean get rid of the mantle? I was thinking about Christmas 😂 where are the stockings going to hang ? Lol and garland eeeeeeeee A long term goal would be to move that radiator in favour or a tall slim one at the end of the wall to free the whole wall up. Short term I'm not sure I'd paint it. Coffee table just for the short term you could paint legs Black and glue on a Slice of wood on top then stain it to your darker preference. Long term .. wooden coffee table for sure 😍😍
The color is beautiful!! Love the corner fireplace! The coffee table - if you can remove the top, you could either paint the bottom and replace the top with a wood top, or you could do the opposite and build a wooden bottom and reuse the marble.
I’ve got a bay window too, I have Venetian blinds on each window and then we have a track along the ceiling for the curtains so that we don’t have a pole and it’s allowed us to keep the gorgeous bay window feature but make it more chic and modern xx
I can’t tell you how much I loved this video! Firstly, the paint colour is perfect! I love it! Secondly hearing all your plans and ideas makes me excited for the videos that I know will be coming. You are right in saying you don’t need to rush to get it done. The best and most successful makeovers have usually taken months and months to plan and execute. I usually find if I go out to find certain pieces they are never as loved afterwards as pieces I have ‘stumbled’ across. Re the radiator, I agree with you about painted radiators, I’ve never been a fan of painting them. Could you customise or make a piece of furniture to cover it that would also be functional? Maybe a future project? Saw you brass light fittings on Instagram, what a shame they weren’t usable but loved that vibe. Keep doing what you’re doing, without doubt my favourite RUclipsr. Oh one last thing, I’m so there for the colour of the cushions you were suggesting - gorgeous warm mix. 🙂🙂 xx
Love the wall colour, when you first put it on it looked quite dark now its dry it looks the perfect colour for the sofa & chairs, I would also put some vibrant cushion covers on the sofa. I think everyone has a slow period especially in Winter, now we are coming out into Spring I think your mojo has returned I know mine has 💜 I have been measuring up for small projects around the house this morning 💜 keep up the good work Shade x
It’s exhausting moving house & very overwhelming looking around thinking about what you need to do - you’ve taken time to process and now ready to start it all ❤
I used rustoleum heat resistant paint absolutely stunning quality paint the radiator or cap it off and remove it , I too have a 80s home in a cul de sac and I’ve leant towards jewelled tones rich art deco vintage Victorian style and I absolutely love it do what feels right and definitely go with the corner fire place log burner, find out if you can re seal your coffee table and why don’t you build a new wooden top that just sits on top of your coffee table like an upside down tray and then if you hate having a wood coffee table you can go back to the marble easily all your ideas sound fantastic I’m here for the long haul
So glad to see you got your mojo back! Your smile in this video is so contagious and I could really see the joy again! Such a simple but beautiful transformation with the paint! The colour really suits the space. I agree that the darker wood goes better with the paint colour and helps build that cosy feeling that you’re going for. I had the same as some others in the comments with regards to the radiator, maybe a radiator cover that can be painted either the colour of the walls or stained in the dark wood colour, another option like someone else suggested could be a custom built sideboard with some ventilation at the top so that the radiator is still functional. With regards to the fireplace, I think I would be boarding it up if it were me. It would also drive me insane that it isn’t central in the room and restricts the space. Looking forward to the next one!
I painted my house Mountain Ship!!!! OMG you did great! I’m repainting mines unfortunately I don’t have as many beautiful windows as you so the color in my house looks too dark but it’s a beautiful color! Yess stain the TV Stand darker, replace the coffee table with wood, I’m undecided on painting the radiator.
Love the wall color!! I would do a custom side board for the dining room that the radiator can sit inside of and be hidden, a really cute picture wall similar to what u did in ur old office would be cute behide the couch, if ur open to taking the fireplace out, I would. Thats warmer wood color goes awesome with that wall color! Love it!
Love the colour. It’s so warm and classy but fresh at the same time. I would blend in the radiator and build the console table around it. I can see something oak and traditional. I always thought those stoves would be a warm and cosy vibe but having had one for a couple of years in my new house, I wouldn’t bother unless you have nothing else to do. They’re not as practical as gas and gurl, they are work! Then you have the dilemma at 9pm whether to add another log and stay up for 2-3 hours or go to bed! Not to mention the stoking 😅
love the new colour walls. The black lamp goes really well. Agree get rid of the fire place, looks strange there. What about designing a funky radiator cover too. I would also paint the brown wood doors between the rooms as well as the main door from the hallway. Can't wait to see the changes 🏡
Paint your radiators same as the wall colour they will then sort of fade into the background I am sire you could make a console table type shelf to go over the centre one and make it longer than the radiator is. I have just made over my fireplace ,covering it with mdf and painted it same as walls( F&B Bone )and added a pair of wooden corbels I covered the marble with matt black vinyl ,it looks so much better then it did before 😆
I think that colour is so much better than the magnolia! I think if you add black accents to that room, if you paint the doors black it will look amazing! 😊
Hi Shade, I have just decorated my living room so feel the back pain 😂 for cutting in I bought an angled brush can I tell you it was a game changer, if it was me I would buy a radiator cover to give the effect of a console table, love how the room turned out
I love the colour! From the first stroke I was like, ohhh that's gonna be nice.... Really nice! Love it! I really love the idea of the free standing fireplace. Especially if the fireplace you currently have isn't centered or functional.
This is the definition of trusting the process, good work! Also, nice to see your bubbly self back on the screen. We’ll be here supporting you as always ❣️
Dark wood works so well with that lovely wall colour. Curtains..I’d be tempted to get some sort of pattern and/or texture in a curtain as everything else in the room is a plain solid colour so a bit of pattern in the curtains would work..just my opinion. Loving seeing you so happy doing up your home
Just done our kitchen diner this kind of colour, love that the green is warm but still bright! Bringing in the right accent colours and furniture make it even better….looking forward to seeing more 😊
You are talented beyond words… you need to have a video each week where you talk to children/teenagers and inspire them ❤ much love from Zhana and Linnie-Camille xxx
A few ideas : maybe have some fluted drawers or a single big box made of wooden slats made under the marble top for the coffee table? Earlier I would have said cane but not now. You can keep decor or cushions or nothing in it. I’ll try and send a DM on Instagram for this. Secondly the radiator can get a lodge on top? Dark wood. Small and thin .. will balance the weight of too much white in that space … yet not overwhelm. Thirdly the corner fire stove looks really good. Smartens up the house like Rob was saying … it looks more this century now. You can pick out the floral elements on the mantel for now .. don’t use any paint etc. just white. And the back and centre of the fireplace can be painted black though. Let the stone be for now as it will go anyway later I feel.
Loving the new colour of the room. Dunelm has lots of wall lights online. Re the radiator definitely don’t paint it, better to get a plain radiator cover that you could colour match and then style on top of making that area of the room have some styling and purpose. Shutters for the front are a good idea and investment, like you said it’s always going to be there and shutters will be a staple piece that is classic in style x
Great video, I personally would never paint a radiator unless it was old and rusty , they look okay from a distance but not close up. I love your fireplace ideas to upcycle it too.
Shade love the video and the colour. With regards to the radiator give it a good sand before. Use Zinsser BIN as an undercoat and then paint with the same wall paint but do very thin coats and sand with 240 in between coats. Also, turn it off, don’t paint a warm radiator, and let the paint cure for at least a week before you turn it back on. It’ll look perfect once it’s done x
Morning Shannon i think shutter Blinds is a must and curtains on the outside of your bay window Looking 4ward to seeing it finished x😘, You have had a lot to put up with in that House x
That’s a great colour! Now you’ve taken the first step the rest will follow. I use Pinterest a lot. I also screenshot things I like and put them in a folder and save the link in a folder too. I think as there’s no chimney breast it’s ok to say goodbye to the fireplace. You could put a radiator cover over the radiator or make a wall unit around it as someone else suggested. I think cushions in a colour would look good.
Lovely colour! It makes the room look prettier. Perhaps get one of those bottomless console tables with higher feet and long enough to fit the width of the radiator by the dining table or maybe build one?! I'd go for painting the radiators semi-gloss or metal finish paint. It'd make the room look more elevated. Is there a coffee table similar to the little side table with the light marble top next to the sofa or something similar with a deep toned wood base and light stone top and perhaps in an oval or round shape?!
Hi Shade, I love that green, it was a perfect choice for that room! For wall and ceiling lights you should check out Next. I moved into my first house last year and all my ceiling lights except for one are from next. They have such a great selection and I think they're really reasonable for the styles you get. My house is older too so I wanted something that would fit, and they had a great selection.
Hey Shade, I love this video. The new wall colour makes the room look so cosy. I would suggest painting the radiator, new wall lights and fireplace mantle in the same colour. And some linen curtains would look lovely. Looking forward to more videos ❤
Hey lovely the colour looks lovely I have a similar tone in my lounge we have used dark mango wood furniture which looks rich and beautiful, the TV put it over the fireplace and frame it so it looks like art, the radiator get a cover with a shelf on so its useful and looks good, cushions warmer tones ❤ hope that helps xxx
Really lovely colour you’ve chosen! I recently took a fire place out of my living room, even though it was one of the features that attracted us to the house in the first place! The room works so much better now it’s gone. Where are the chairs from in your bay window?
the color is stunning ❤ I have to admit when you were second guessing yourself at first I thought wow if someone as talented as you can feel this way, the rest of us just need to try something, thanks for that
Re: coffee table - maybe painting the bottom a different color? I feel like it would be too much wood. Marble can be cleaned and polished, you can polish off the stains to a degree.
For the coffee table, you could paint the metal legs black? Or go for a big pouffe footstool, much cosier ❤ love the paint colour - makes me want to repaint everything in my house 😅
If you do paint the radiators pls let us know what you use bc I feel like its always in high end makeovers but its not normal/ traditional in the UK & I wouldn't have a clue what to start doing it!
Happy Sunday lovely Well done Shade, i love the colour, the living room just came alive and warm 🤩 I know what its like, its hard to get your mojo on somerimes, dont beat yourself up over it, i love watching your video's, you is so funny and always make me giggle, bless 😘🙌🏽💫xx
Loved the video. The colour is perfect. I'd personally paint the radiator, or you're more than capable of building something around the radiator with storage or shelves. Also, with the fireplace, you said you wanted to do a Georgian room. Why not build a chimney breast with cupboards and shelving above. You are so good at building units, etc. Obviously, doing this costs money and time, but there's no rush. Hope that helps with your ideas you have. 🩷
Matt paint on a radiator isn’t good, however, if you do, make sure it’s heat resistant as it’ll fume or go shiny eventually with the heat (yep! experience). I’d also paint those mahogany-coloured doors, as that’s a late 70s/early 80s giveaway (so much mahogany-coloured “wood” finishes back then) - or stain them darker to match the pieces you like. Can’t you move the radiator if you don’t like it where it is? You’ll add skills too! And yes shutters - they’d give you a bit of privacy during the day too - but if curtains as well, I’d bite the bullet and fit into the bay as you won’t then visually lose the space when you pull the curtains. You could bend the track round the wall to the room side, so the curtains completely clear the windows and maximise the light when pulled. Your marble coffee table top can be re-polished/finished by a marble/glass supplier (the joy of real material rather than something looking like it) Love your sofas they look soooo comfy - I’d just pull that one a good foot from the radiator as the heat will damage all the joints otherwise and it’ll collapse in parts (again, speaking from experience ...... it over-dries all the wood and glue, so the joints shrink and separate - obvious if you think about it - I felt such a fool and it was a very expensive mistake 🙄). Also, your radiator will work better and it’ll be more cost-efficient. Love how it turned out - worth the work Roll on part 2
Yes my gurl is back...colour is bad, what about a fake chimney breast /media wall then insert the tv into the wall and put one of those square flat glass fires underneath? I love 🪵 think it adds warmth to a room, my dining room table, mirror, side unit is all wood...bit matchy matchy some may say (thought it myself at times) but because of the type of wood (sheesham/Indian rosewood) it looks nice. Looking forward to more reno/dec vlogs.
Love the colour, defiantly go with your thoughts of dark wood, trust yourself, been watching you for a while and don’t usually comment, but have loved all your makeovers and think you have a real talent for what you do 😊
Why not get a radiator cover for that radiator near the dining table? You could paint the cover the same colour as the wall if you wanted without having to paint the radiator... plus you could decorate the top. Just a thought x
Great color choice 🙏🏾🥰💖💯💫
Yes! to the free standing fire place Love that idea, You could make a radiator cover that looks like a sideboard
You got this Shade, so great to have a UK interior design/DIY/thrifting channel representing :)
Radiator cover? And then you could paint it and use it as a decor sideboard piece. Also easy to change when you get the itch-to-switch! 😁 fantastic colour and painting skills. So happy for you and love you talking through your thoughts and taking us through the process with you. Great video! 👍🏼

I agree with Lifestyle Fashion & Beauty’s comment on making a radiator cover that functions as a sideboard. It’s the perfect solution.
Stop apologising you bring real is what keeps us here in invested for the long haul ❤
In my younger years I painted every room in my house. So satisfying

its like that paint colour gave the room ✨personality ✨ 🥳🤩
Yes!!? it looks so nice, just do you what you love! Your the creator for your Castle, progress is as good as completion🤩
Okay, now I'm off to paint the livingroom...again!
Love the idea of the freestanding fireplace.

You should use some of that good quality vinyl covering on the coffee table... There's some lovely ones that look really good and not cheap
Love it . Was not sure at first thought it was too dark however not so 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Let the stone be for now as it will go anyway later I feel.
you can DIY a cover for the radiators and I love the color ... I think I may steal that color for my living room
Absolutely stunning I am loving it great choice of colour it really brings the room together.
Morning Shannon i think shutter Blinds is a must and curtains on the outside of your bay window Looking 4ward to seeing it finished x😘, You have had a lot to put up with in that House x
Fabulous colour Shade. Great job
Loved this video ! Room looks amazing ! Black radiator to match black fireplace xxx
You can spray your fire Matt black and buy Crome trims it’s lovely xx
New content from my fave 🫶🏼 what a fabulous Sunday this is going to be 🙌🏻
Love the colour looks great, I love you DIY videos yours so talented Shade you shouldn't ever dought yourself.
The colour looks amazing with the fire place! I love it 😍
Love the colour, defo don't paint the radiator make a slimline cover and paint to match the walls 😀
Love the color! Cant wait to see more.
With the radiators, you can look into making or buying radiator covers
Hi Shade, I love that green, it was a perfect choice for that room! For wall and ceiling lights you should check out Next. I moved into my first house last year and all my ceiling lights except for one are from next. They have such a great selection and I think they're really reasonable for the styles you get. My house is older too so I wanted something that would fit, and they had a great selection.
Hey Shade, I love this video. The new wall colour makes the room look so cosy. I would suggest painting the radiator, new wall lights and fireplace mantle in the same colour. And some linen curtains would look lovely. Looking forward to more videos ❤
I absolutly love love love it❤❤❤, have confidence in your choices , you have such a good eye💖 xxx
I love the color. I enjoy watching ur channel so much❤❤❤❤
Hey lovely the colour looks lovely I have a similar tone in my lounge we have used dark mango wood furniture which looks rich and beautiful, the TV put it over the fireplace and frame it so it looks like art, the radiator get a cover with a shelf on so its useful and looks good, cushions warmer tones ❤ hope that helps xxx
I love it!❤. I know exactly how you felt, it's so hard getting started but once you do you don't want to stop xx
Love it, with the coffee table you can remove the marble and replace it with wood untill you find one you love
Really lovely colour you’ve chosen! I recently took a fire place out of my living room, even though it was one of the features that attracted us to the house in the first place! The room works so much better now it’s gone. Where are the chairs from in your bay window?
I’ve ordered some from Dunelm, £30 each (more than what I expected) but they have some gorgeous ones! ☺️
5 mins in and I'm so invested! Love your content! 👌🏾
the color is stunning ❤ I have to admit when you were second guessing yourself at first I thought wow if someone as talented as you can feel this way, the rest of us just need to try something, thanks for that
The colour is amazing 😍
Re: coffee table - maybe painting the bottom a different color? I feel like it would be too much wood. Marble can be cleaned and polished, you can polish off the stains to a degree.
Love the color! Great video.
For the coffee table, you could paint the metal legs black? Or go for a big pouffe footstool, much cosier ❤ love the paint colour - makes me want to repaint everything in my house 😅
Love the colour. Shade missed your vlogs ❤❤
If you do paint the radiators pls let us know what you use bc I feel like its always in high end makeovers but its not normal/ traditional in the UK & I wouldn't have a clue what to start doing it!
I love the color! It reminds me of Shitake from another brand that l can't think of.
Happy Sunday lovely
Well done Shade, i love the colour, the living room just came alive and warm 🤩
I know what its like, its hard to get your mojo on somerimes, dont beat yourself up over it, i love watching your video's, you is so funny and always make me giggle, bless 😘🙌🏽💫xx
I love this colour!
Love it. Happy shopping😊
Your marble coffee table top can be re-polished/finished by a marble/glass supplier (the joy of real material rather than something looking like it)
Love your sofas they look soooo comfy - I’d just pull that one a good foot from the radiator as the heat will damage all the joints otherwise and it’ll collapse in parts (again, speaking from experience ...... it over-dries all the wood and glue, so the joints shrink and separate - obvious if you think about it - I felt such a fool and it was a very expensive mistake 🙄). Also, your radiator will work better and it’ll be more cost-efficient.
Love how it turned out - worth the work
Roll on part 2
Love the colour!
Looking forward to more reno/dec vlogs.
thanks Jojo love the recommendations!!
Love the colour, defiantly go with your thoughts of dark wood, trust yourself, been watching you for a while and don’t usually comment, but have loved all your makeovers and think you have a real talent for what you do 😊
Beautiful color!
This is truly your element where your creativity shines through ❤ young people need to learn from you. Much love from Playletsplaykids xxx
Why not get a radiator cover for that radiator near the dining table? You could paint the cover the same colour as the wall if you wanted without having to paint the radiator... plus you could decorate the top. Just a thought x
What about painting the coving dark? It's really cool btw
Get rid of the fire place. Do a cover instead of painting the heaters. love the colour 😊
Love the color
Looks stunning!!
