    I remember the days of the Jeep Cherokee up until about 2004; solid vehicles with the in-line 6 cyl engine that hadn't changed much over the 1990s except Jeep fixed all the defects. Incredibly reliable vehicle you could work on with a basic tool set. My brother had one, unfortunately it got totaled when a drunk driver hit him (he walked away OK). I guessed they redesigned it so the service techs would have some work to do? No Hyundai on this list, but I'm old enough to remember their entry into the USA, when their cars would literally fall apart at 40K-50K miles for any number of major issues. They're much better now (have they fixed the recent string of engine problems?).

    I don't like how everyone did away with the straight six motor. By simple engineering and design you can't get better than a straight six motor. No counter balancing needed. No extra balance shafts. The straight six was just by design a perfectly balanced engine. Meaning less vibration and no extra parts needed causing more power loss, friction, unnecessary complexity. The straight six was simply balanced. The pinnacle of it all. They've never found better. According to basic physics and engineering there can't be any better though a 12 cylinder might equal it. Why on earth did they get rid of the straight 6? Was it TOO good a engine? TOO reliable?

The turbos are wearing. Still people under the warranty yep it’s already addressed. But without an warranty it’s so extra expensive to replace the whole turbos and engine

    I've come to the conclusion that most car issues are the result of improper maintenance. The car manufacturers only care about getting customers through the warranty and usually recommend going further between oil changes and transmission fluid changes than they should (this is actually just a gimmick for sales). Drive vehicles like you have some sense and maintain them.

    Stay away from FIAT Jeeps.
    Hyundai

    Nissan
    Ford
    General Motors.
    BMW
    Mercedes.
    General Motors should go back to the 350 and 400 engines.

    It's a shame you can't have the LS engine anymore. And I will never understand why the industry has problems with timing chains. We used them in the 60s 70s 80s 90s without problems then in 2000s, famously Ford’s modualr engines, timing chains need all these sceduled replacements. Plastic guides, stretching, etc. They used to last the life of the vehicle.

  • @guzmancharles7
    @guzmancharles7 Месяц назад

    To much technology put into these new vehicles. Prime example is the BMW lots of plastic, remember the reliability of a 1988 BMW NO MORE. The air ride suspension on a lot of these vehicles all I hear is when they go bad it cost a ‘arm & a leg’ to fix, they are a money pit. WHEN YOU HAVE VEHICLES COMING FROM A COMPANY NAME TATA YOU KNOW THESES PROBLEM🤦🏽 GREAT VIDEO THANKS👍

    I'll never buy one of these newer cars. Yes it's partially about initial cost, but every time I see one of these videos there, are ALWAYS infotainment system issues. I can't even imagine how much that stuff will cost to replace out of warranty. Way too many computer chips in new vehicles. The only technology I need is a decent stereo and hands free calling. I'm pretty sure I can add that to any old car for a few hundred bucks.
