This is the most satisfying thing I've ever seen. Also, do you have a link to where to buy those scissors? I need those in my life. Thanks for the video! =)
10-15 MIN done trimming ; 4 hours done fishing out trimmed blades. lol. No hate, I love hair grass and have a carpet in at least a few of my aquascapes at any given time. I also grow many species emersed (Belem, Pusilla, Acicularis). Thanks for the cool video!!
Hi, thanks for sharing your great videos. The hairgrass in my tanks is growing well but starting to get long and a bit untidy. I'm worried that if I start trimming it, it may go brown and I'll lose it. Do you have any other advice how to prevent this happening at all please?
No. They don't. If you want to propagate from your existing tank you have to uproot a bit from the substrate and cut off from the root. They spread through runners. The trimmed leaves are dead. Must be removed immediately after trimming. I am four years too late but in case someone else has the same question :-)

You will have horrible algae. you need to net them out. It can be tedious. I like to net as much as possible, then siphon the stragglers with a water change, fill up, siphon again, fill. then when you drain you can easily get the many blades that stick to the glass and everything. That's why Belem is my favorite lately, you don't have to trim. I trim it maybe twice in a year. and you don't have to at all. only grows to be about 2-3 inches and the blades curve downward makes a very thick lush short carpet. what I do is once the carpet gets really thick I pull it out and restart the carpet just like new with what I just took out. it really promotes healthy growth and roots and you get to enjoy the carpeting phase all over. you don't need to do this. once its filled in thick enough it kinda stops sending runners bc there is no where to go. you can just leave it like that and enjoy indefinitely.
This was so immensely gratifying to watch. I'm not even ashamed to say I enjoyed watching grass being cut on RUclips.
I found that very therapeutic :) could have watched another half hour
Your dramatic music cracks me up. Nice vid.

Thank you Mike. I never had that kind of experience with this plant 🌱
Thank you for getting back to me. Really appreciated.
Do the trimmings grow roots?

TheTropictank Thanks for the answer. I was thinking the exact same setup for my new tank. Results are great for parvula as it seems :)
What do you do with the dwarf hair grass clippings when after you are done trimming do you leave them there or remove them
Do the trimming with the filter off. Once done remove the clips from the surface level with a net, otherwise they would rot.
