Lexapro has made me gain 100 pounds in almost a year. I was also on trazodone & clonopan & 3 other different meds. I stopped taking my lexapro w/o telling my pshyc because of how much weight I’ve gained.
what!! im on lexapro and have lost weight.. im so sorry you have experienced that!! i hope you have medications that make you feel better physically and mentally now. ❤
If the topamax doesn't work ask your psych about metformin! The main reason Abilify causes weight gain is by upping your blood sugar + causing insulin resistance. The blood sugar changes are why it is not as simple as calories in calories out, since insulin resistance causes your body to store more fat. When I was first put on an antipsychotic my doctor told me that if I gained too much weight on it I could start taking metformin. Luckily, I didn't need it because my weight stabilized after I worked with a nutritionist who basically put me on a blood sugar management diet, and I've maintained my weight for almost five years while on seroquel. Look into diets for people with diabetes/ pcos, since these will be helpful. I get my blood sugar and thyroid levels checked 3-4 times per year so we can tailor treatment as needed. Dealing with the side effects of mental health meds is NOT EASY so my heart goes out to you, but you've got this.
I take topomax for seizures and just wait till you’re drinking soda .. all pop tastes so gross ! Carbonated drinks mostly taste nasty after awhile so I can’t drink Pepsi coke etc ! It’s so weird ! Also I have been on this med since 2018 and never gain weight now . I stopped loosing eventually but if you want advice I have been on this medication forever.. like I said I’ve been on it for my seizures and migraines but weight loss came with it.
