LOL @ Loch NAS. I wish I had thought of that when building out my FreeNAS host.
The main reason why I'm not a fan of Active/Active is maintenance: You can disable one, do whatever needs to be done, fail-over, and work on the other one. You get no interruption, you don't need to schedule down-time, and you don't need to do work outside of business hours (unless you're feeling paranoid)

Oh yes SAN failures are a pain. Even when you have 2 of them in a HA setup.

What if I will build ceph cluster (like with proxmox) and place TrueNAS as vm on it? Should I create one big vdev and place it on ceph?

Your videos have intrigued me and i setup a pair of Xen servers and have played with raid setups on them and such, and have played with FreeNas and such.. However, i always find some annoying task i have to do or limitation along the way. I love to play with the systems, but cost and headache considered, my conclusion is always that public cloud is cheaper, more robust, and easier in most cases. Id love to see your views on these products pros and cons vs their public cloud counterparts. 👏😁
