*Vornado definitely makes a great fan **Fastly.Cool** . We had the older model that was larger and which we liked more, but we are still quite pleased with this product. Recommended!*
Fans AND air circulators don't lower the temperature of the air they're moving they just move it, and the air flow from these units makes the air feel cooler due to convection and evaporation.
The smaller fan is likely not actually moving more air at low than the large fan, but it's going to be more focused. If you were you measure the actual CFM from the entire fan surface area, the large fan would be moving more air.
I've been using Vornado's large heavy duty fan for years (I have no idea where my family got it from) but I absolutely love using it as a direct fan LOL. I have a relatively small room where I can turn the fan to face either my desk chair or my bed (basically the only surfaces I can linger in) and most of the time I keep the fan on low with no problem. Vornado fans are honestly pretty awesome if used as "regular" fans instead of air circulators
Have the older smaller Vornado 360 from walmart about 8 years now and I pull the front off and clean every season or so and it's still running strong! It has the twist knob on the back to change speed and no turbo mode so if it ever bites the big one ill replace it with this!
@@sexypoetry You are supposed to run it 24/7. The five year warranty is established because it's designed to run for five years continuously without defect.
hey Drew, thanks for this review (: i've been looking for something to cool my room and i wasn't sure about this product but after this, i think i'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger!
I got a 630. You really do feel a cool breeze anywhere in the room, much better than an ordinary fan by far. Costs way more but easily worth every penny.
You often see the 'Vornado 660' pointed at DJ's in the booth on really hot days at outdoor music festivals.. No other fan can blow as hard as these things without being twice the size...
@@Kynetguy its ok. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, and have not yet found the 'sweet spot' where it really works well, so I use it often as a fan. I'm still trying to work on the best position.
@@Still_I_Ride What placement did you settle on? I am also in a one bedroom apartment with the ac in the living room and it just doesn't cool the bedroom. I get it's an air circulator but I also feel like I need to direct or feed the ac airflow down the hall and into the bedroom. I'm struggling to figure out a set up that makes sense.
Actually, the room will not get cooler per say, but it will "feel" cooler as the air is moving around you. As air movies over your skin, it cools it (especially if you are sweating). In most instances, you will ((on average)) feel like the room is 4--5 degrees cooler.
Thanks for this review!!! I got the 660, and it works super well for my living room. Now im looking into getting one for my bedroom 🤩 however not sure if 560 or 460
They are great fans (But) Vornado warranty Sucks!!! They go off on their manufactured date. It's not the date you purchased on. I hope your fan works past the warranty date. To be honest, my fans (5) broke at about the 5 year mark. I can buy 2-3 fans for what Vornado charges. And it lasts 2 - 3x longer than Vornado. I have a fan that is about 12 years old. Not as good as Vornado, but it still works. I rather buy 2-3 fans, knowing it will be working past the warranty.
I have mine in my face pretty much all day every day. It does dry your eyes out, but not terribly so. One thing is, if an insect gets in there and gets shot into your eye it really does hurt lol.
@@erikjoyner7767 just imagine the air is a ball. If you bounced a ball off the wall, follow the direction it would go. There's no way they "cool the room 10-20 degrees". Fans produce heat therefore they heat up the room. The cool feeling you get from a fan is called the wind chill effect and is caused by the moving air making sweat evaporate from your skin.
So what your saying is: it makes the room feel 10-20ºF cooler with wind-chill. Wind-chill is a commonly understood concept, and is a meteorological-level measurement of temperature.
@@joeb-5150 I mean no, you’re not exactly right. If the air is circulating it’s equalising then heat, so if there’s a significant imbalance in some parts of the room having more heat it can technically lower the temperature for the area you’re situated in.
Well I have both of these fans and used a digital thermometer in all four corners of the room before and after and I received a 15° drop so I don't think that is windshield they are incredible and they both have brushless motors and the engines are just about cool to the touch after 5 hours of use as I took it apart to clean it which only took about 30 seconds to accomplish
Whats that bloody Black thing next to your head, it moving around, and mesmerising me, i prefer a Ceiling Fan, nowadays they are Powerful & Quiet They Look Cool hehe

The best part about this review isn't the envelope test, the plants were moving like crazy on turbo with the 660. im sold, thank you

No! You can aim it to where your ceiling fan will pull down the air from the Vornado for maximum air flow. We are on our 3rd one. We live by them!
