Me personally I rock with the 101. They sound good. Ever improving. This is coming from a Spartan Legion Dizziac alum. Keep grinding 101. ✊🏾💚💛🔰BEHOLD! THE 100 will always be old faithful to me. A solid program with a rich tradition. Both bands did there thing.
Good battle. Initially, famu had won based on sound alone. Then scsu open up after FAMU march. Marches shouldn't be included in a 5th but to each is it's own. FAMU intros with the woodwind is 2nd to none. If FAMU were to keep that through each of its songs as a foundation, this would put famu in untouchable status. Good 1st battle to both bands. Scsu sometimes some of the pieces of the arrangements were dragging and came off as a high school execution.
FAMU definitely had a more mature sound with far less individual tones sticking out. SCSU is starting to make a comeback so looking forward to seeing them later in the season
One of FAMU's biggest problems has always been tempo. Yall need to turn on the "box" (metronome) during rehearsals and connect it to the speakers. The march nearly fell apart. That's inexcusable for a Sudler Trophy Band. Also, having the tubas separated plays a major role in tempo issues. Since this band often relies on the tubas for tempo, I would never separate them. That said, the band can play. No news there, but tempo is a major fundamental that needs to be addressed.
I don’t think the tubas being separated is the issue. Most bands set up like this in the stands. They (and any other band that has tempo issues) need to do like you said and put that metronome to work and watch the director.
@rooseveltb9892 it is a contributing factor IMO. As mentioned, FAMU uses their tubas for the pulse, although I notice that is slowly changing--which is unfortunate because their sound is changing as a result. That's another story. Ideally, one should never separate the pulse keepers: the percussion and the tubas. But once that tempo pushes in a band that size, the director has to hang on for dear life lol
FAMU has definitely been playing new music in the 5th. They have been opening up their book and adjusting in the SWAC. Find another excuse to hate. As for marches, it’s a heat check/ flex to see what your band fundamentals are about. Most don’t reply with one because they know they’ll get exposed sounding like poo. Versatility 💯
I like SCSU, but it's very hard to get past the intonation. On "Outstanding" it almost sounded as if certain sections were in a different key. If it is not in tune, it doesn't matter.
New 5th quarter music is needed 101. Champagne PLEASE learn new counts. You can go back and look at videos from as far as 2012 or even FURTHER and the counts are the same. Overall mediocre compared to what you all can do as a whole.

Scsu ain’t playing 💪🏾💪🏾
I love the direction SCSU going
Its good to see SCSU making a come back with its numbers.......still need some more .........
Let's Gooooo State!!! That was a good battle
Every things onThe1!
Scsu did that at the end bossman dlow that’s all the fans wanna hear 🙌🏾
SCSU nice this year! W
Ok.....this one was very good!!!! The Marching 101 is gonna be hell and so is FAMU.
Overall I'm glad that SC State got their weight back but it was a sparring match between the two.
100 pushing some crazy sound!
Last song 💪🏾
The 101 for the W. When that Outstanding was on them they ran to that March. Lol
That’s some insane logic. March is literally in the word Marching Band.
Dr. Dre is going to send them a cease and desist letter 😂
For all that’s complaining about the 101 playing the same music go speak to they’re alumni band staff association or the band director and his staff
I'm SCSU alumni so you can email me if you want. 😊
Both sounds good

them SC State arrangements were high schoolish as hell !
@@AGB32805So were FAMU’s. Many high schools play collegiate arrangements

@@BigBdaruler i saw SC State's improvement on the field. their numbers look good and they performed a solid show.
"Marches shouldn't be included in the 5th"...why because nobody else can play them well? 😂
Y’all sittin over here talkin about the band did y’all see player 79 fall??? 8:09

SC State sounds really nice, but y'all deadass played 4-5 of these against FAM in 2021. In the 5th.
I got FAM off of that alone
Damn you right they definitely did😭
@@DrewdajerkI'm deadass sitting here like "They definitely played all of this before"
I actually really wanted to watch this I was so blown brah
FAMU SOUNDS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!

Willms Garden
SCSU plays the same somes damn near every 5th, past years included. Glad to see their numbers coming up but they need play within themselves.
If you dont stop with the foolishness. As if FAMU hasnt been playing the same thing for the past 20 years. Laughbable
New arrangements would put the 101 on the map. The 101 is just as predictable as Cookman and The 100 in the 5th quarter.

SCSU 🏆💯❤️💙💪🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥 famu been Boring for YEARS !!!!! White music vs Black music SMH
SC State has more flava than FAM
What does that mean?
FAMU how you let a band from South Carolina come in yo trap and take over by playing a Florida boy song bossman dlow 🤦🏾♂️
I’ll give FAMU the nod on this one. The march and their sound overall made the difference in this one.
Bruh did they play the exact same songs again they played against fam last time lol
Famu you are just big for nothing. Boring as all get out. I enjoyed SCSU more than I did Famu.
You couldn't make the 100 with your best audition.
Most definitely boring at time 😂 the song book boring 😴
Thats not saying much. You know Famu was a mess. Pride is killing you @@tedwilliams185

I can tell you didn’t watch them fr lol they brought out new counts actually all throughout the game!
@@jofel2711I stand corrected if they did..😮
The 101 mellow was struggling…….
very sloppy scsu and these are the exact 5th song from the last time they faced Florida A/M. They should have changed it up a little its been 3 years.
so you should be tired of hearing the same famu arrangements rights?
@@jaye4856famu played new music 😂😂
