It's awesome to see you making peace with your injury and finding joy in what you can. As I'm dealing with my own health issues right now, I appreciate your perspective and I want to learn how to think more like you do.
The hair is a good look on you. Definitely get on the trails when your Achilles heals. When Allie starts traveling to some more of the big trail races don't miss out on the opportunity to race those too. The places you guys travel to will be amazing! Your speed from the shorter distances will pay off when you start going longer. If that's something you want to do.
Finally I’m better than the athlete special at something , btw I’m a collegiate racewalker for NAIA and no I’m not throwing shade this video is awesome because it brings more love to the sport
Loved this video. Yes to the haircut. Yes to the coaching! Check out the "Magness & Marcus on Coaching" podcast, and perhaps join their online community of professional coaches (mostly collage and high school) who delve deep into training and help each other break down what works. Its not for average runner, this is high level coaching gold. Good luck! Oh and YES to more videos like this :)
After watching your video, I felt inspired to try my own speed walk sesh. Could I also go a mile in 9:43? Not quite. I made it 0.81 miles. The tips from the pro were great! Haircut: 10 out of 10 Coaching: yes
Hey, Spencer. Cool video. I noticed you said your achilles is not getting better. Going on 9 weeks isnt it? Why not get some imaging done? Why not run through it like most serious runners? You need to put more effort into solving your problems. You can't just wait around for 9 weeks and except AT to magically heal itself. Maybe once it heals, you can go back to being coached by your dad and start running 5ks. Just make it last longer than a few months before you switch your agenda and abandon all progress.
10 min/mi is way to fast for an average running mile imo, check your sources lol. Like someone else said, most people can't even run a mile period...Also the last vid had potential, but needed a better or actual purpose. Check my comment in that video for some advice.
I think ALL runners at some point should try racewalking a mile, train for a week or so then do a time trial. Humbling and you will get to know strange new aspects of your own body.
When I ran my first half marathon there was a older, tried race walker there. He was friends with my brother from his church so we started at the same time. But he blew me out of the water. Like seriously fast. The hair. 11/100. And it SHOULD find a mountain 5k to run.
Hey Spence, the new haircut is good! How is the achilles rehab going. Have you seen Squat University "How to Fix Achilles Tendonitis" on RUclips? But if after a considerable time, it just doesn't seem to be healing, which was the case with mine, I ended up going to Dr Maurer, foot and ankle specialist right near you in Kirkland. He did therapy on mine which brought it back quickly.
My mile pr is 5:44, so it's cool to know that i'm pretty close to the race-walk mile WR of 5:31. Obviously much slower than competitive running mile times but still 😄
@@a.j.cappuccio2859 it's totally reasonable to expect someone to be world class at something on their second attempt at it 🙄. Obviously I meant with dedicated training and recovery from injury.
9:45 is my prediction without watching the video. Edit: This is actually the first time I guessed a time before watching the whole video and no spoilers, and I actually got it close :D by the way 9:43 is amazing, my fastest 400m walking lap is 1:59, BARELY under 2 minutes and I was so out of it after just 1 lap, I know it's much faster than 2:27 per 400, but it's still crazy you are only going 28 seconds slower than my fastest lap, 4 times in a row, that's amazing man, I would love to break 12 minutes for a 1 mile race walk.
I was surprised to see Boys & Girls 1-mile racewalk leading off 2024 Nike Indoor Nationals. I just thought it was a strange event that only popped up every 4yrs at the Olympics.

To be honest I don’t think the average person can even run a mile
So true haha
Considering almost half of America is obese it’s probably true
mmmm...average american person? or what
@@esgee3829 nah average person z
I been running consistently for a year.I personally only know maybe 2 people who could wake up in the morning and run a mile
People who looked at the comments before they watched the whole video

Try biking ... it's much more fun than running. You can even get an e-bike.
@@musclelessfitness2045Electronic assistance in athletics is so lame. If you can't bike up a hill, turn up the gear and increase your RPM goddammit!

casual call with an olympian in your video lol. enjoyed the video
Prolly one of my favorite quotes: “Don’t be sad because it’s over, be happy because it happened.”
That cut will shave 69 seconds off your 5K time. Also, you should go hard on a trail race.
11/10 haircut, 11/10 video, 11/10 post-workout coffee
Full contact run . In a racewalk event you would d.q.early in the event 😢
When judges don't D.Q. Tom "No Contact" Bosworth nearly enough, Spence has little to worry about.
Haircut looking great, and coaching would be siiiick!
The SWAP singlet for the win! Are you sure that was all actually walking?
Trail race 1000% You could crush some high-profile races in the trail world with your talent.
I was there! Red jacket and sunglasses working out with Blanchet (4:31)
Not sure I saw that "kick" Spencer.😅
Tom is such a legend, great to see him make an appearance! Great video =D
He is a great runner for sure!
Loved this! And yes to seeing Spencer in a trail race!
Nah why is 9:32 so relatable
Just enjoy trail running hills and you will find your way back.
All about the small victories sometimes:)
I love this challenge
You should come down to Spokane and record a video Spencer.
Gotta agree with allie, try a trail race thatd be sick to test yourself once you are better. Can't wait to see you compete again
Its a sharp cut- the best yet

Hilarious video. Love the earnestness.
Sprint tri and Olympic distance tri and older goals...!
It s nice to see runners tries RaceWalking! Next time, try to walk a mile with a Race Walking technique!! 💪💪
LETS GO ZETH MENTION ‼️‼️‼️‼️
You should try an ultra spence
what's your rehab for achilles?

Spencer- do you do all the cross training like Allie did when she was injured?
Would love to see Spence move to the long distance, he can start with a 10k then a half and move his way when he feels ready to the marathon.
last time I was injured I walked a ton and best I could do was like 12:30
i love how poetical spencer has been over the last few years lol
You were running 😂

Allie should hit those jumps on her bike
Nice to see Ferris Brown!
Interesting, good concept
Actual attempt at 12:01

Nice.
Loving the new haircut.

The haircut is much better!
been running for years and can hardly break 12 minute pace, what nonsensical data did you get telling you that the average is 10 minutes....
Kudos on the haircut 🎉
I'm telling you, switch to racewalking and you'll be an Olympian in no time
With a 10 minute mile?
@@a.j.cappuccio2859 it's totally reasonable to expect someone to be world class at something on their second attempt at it 🙄. Obviously I meant with dedicated training and recovery from injury.
I walk about 9.30 per mile
The floor is actual lava
Average person can’t even walk a mile
Hahah only time I’m beating u in a event have walked 9:17 Great vid
I cant even image a walker doing a 5:31!!! Hair, shorter better.
Do the Goggins challenge when you’re healed!
Coaching would be sick
Nah, he doesn’t understand the sport’s training enough yet. Maybe assistant coaching under someone
cant stick to a coach/training plan for a whole year, but is considering coaching people wtaf bro
Like the hair!!’
9:47
11:07
W vid I’m still toasting you though
Yes, how about some high school coaching?
9/10
you should be a coach
😂😂👍
Trail race is a move tbh get on that rn spence
did you divorce your wife?
Is Rogaine on the Prohibited List? If not, potential sponsorship?
Would love to see you coach someday.
As soon as Spencer started walking, i had a flash back of my co-worker hurrying to the bathroom
You need a lot of work before you could walk in front of the judges. You're not using your hips, and you aren't straightening your knee.

Well it looks like he walk 1600 cone to cone, so your were probably correct with 9 45!
A better track and a pair of Vaporflys is all you need!
I think you should try an OCR :-)
the toxic positivity is big on this one!
This video is amazing. Your work with other professionals to get better is a lesson we all can learn from. Keep up the work.
I didn’t start running until I turned 31. Ran my first marathon at 32. Now I just want to do a marathon or ultra in every state.
why not telling us more about your achilles tendon issues?we may can help
I noticed the haircut right away! Great job 👏
trail races are goated. do a trail race spence
W haircut, I hated the mullet 😡😡😡
spencer is kinda caked up
