I guess the neutral magic is the most interesting, because it's something different than from the base game. Though ice, and the possibility of freezing enemies sounds interesting too. Especially if we can maybe crash them into pieces as an execution
I think ice is the most interesting of the archmagicks just because of the freezing properties. I'm a simple man; I like getting free hits on enemies. It was very easy in DD1 to use fire or holy as a crutch and some of the others were underutilised, so fingers crossed that the others get more attention this time.
Fire and Holy will always be my favorites in 1. They're both really great early/mid game, and holy is so good post game. Any new character I start I always run straight to the Tomb of the Unkown Traveler and grab my fire weapon!
Fire and Holy was my go to Archmagicks since almost all enemies in the game ill like fire. Judging from the official website, they have added quiet a lot new of enemies in DD2 that may come with more variations on elemental weaknesses. I might not play vocations that deal magic directly, but I certainly would bring along pawns that can echant my weapons.
Ice in the first game is drastically more useful in any point in the game unless you’re fighting explicitly dire wolves and ice harpies unless somehow the burn status effect makes or breaks your speed at killing something.
I will choose holy magic and lightning magic because that seems to be the best combination to use when playing as thief and seems to be pretty versatile.
Cant wait to see how the spell look in DD2... considering all the improvements to dynamic lighting and particle effects. Should be a feast for the eyes, and really give them a feeling of power and momentum.
Holy enhanced staff was the way to go for DD1, so hopefully it will be still viable in DD2. Also topor inducing rusty daggers was fun on large enemies.
Hoping they spice dark up a bit... Make it viable for a dark only build. I love the theme... Debilitating, crippling enemy offence and defencive capabilities. Softening them up for the kill.
Dark Magic would be the most interesting especially since this game is drawing more from the fantasy roots! Happy to see how it changes in relation to this game and the interactions you have with it.
I hope we get a costume layer/transmog system. I'd also love a bestiary with monster info like weaknesses and such. Procedurally generated dungeons, or something close to it like Bloodborne's Chalice Dungeons.
A proper bestiary would be soooo cool. With hand drawn sketches that make it feel like its a notebook in the players own hand. Yeah were not getting that unfortunately, but would have been very very cool.
Dark buffs were always the last option for being effective on small amount of enemies but i really like running with it so hopefully it gets Justice in dd2
Yeah me too... even though enemies may be resistant to the damage dealt by dark magicks, it would be good if that 'loss' in power (on the damage front) is transferred into making these very effective for battlefield control via debilitating effects.
Ice greatsword is the coolest. U can launch goblins and saurions while freezing them leading them to shatter by fall damage or stay frozen upside letting u do another ark of obliteration =)
Even though I just started my journey with DD I think that combo with thunder and ice sound really cool. Those two can stun an enemy or hordes of them (or so i think at least :P) and the effects just look stuning (yup pun intended)
Hi gamerzoo, I hae only given away Steam keys in the past (its pretty easy all things considered). Do you know of an easy way to do the same with PS4/5 titles.
I'm probably just going to use sorcerer or maybe even necromancer if that's going to be in it or any other magic caster in it including the trickster I'm basically going to level up the vocation of all the magic vocation classes for the arisen and the main pawn😊 I like the sword the fighter the warrior and the mystic knight but I prefer magic overall and if you give me a bow I'll just throw it out one thing about dragon's dogma I can't stand bow and arrow vocation😢 A bow and arrow vocation is a lot like a first-person shooter it doesn't savor the moment there's no excitement there's no explosion there's no anime there's no konosuba anime adventure, and the beauty of dark magic and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks that 😢 PS the day I'm forced to use a bow and arrow vocation will be the day I blow up everything in dragon's dogma 2 just like the anime konosuba megumin! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
i'm honestly excited that buffs seem even more vital in this game, makes keeping around a mage super helpful
The quality of this guide is insane
I appreciate the kind words amst4703, hope you stick around for some of the future content that I have in the works.
I hope dark gets even more ability to enhance others in combat. My non-gamer gf loves the game and is super excited for the sequel
She sounds like a keeper!!! I reckon the archmagics will be more balanced, offering a wide variety of playstyles. Fingers crossed
Liked how the dark bolts would slowly float and creep towards the target
Fire's the most common weakness, but if you go for style and coolness, my fav is lightning
I guess the neutral magic is the most interesting, because it's something different than from the base game. Though ice, and the possibility of freezing enemies sounds interesting too. Especially if we can maybe crash them into pieces as an execution

Cleansing the wicked with holy fire... Mr likey :)
Ice in the first game is drastically more useful in any point in the game unless you’re fighting explicitly dire wolves and ice harpies unless somehow the burn status effect makes or breaks your speed at killing something.
Not on very technical aspects but by the style, Fire and Lightning look so cool.
It's got alot of styl, that's for sure!
I will choose holy magic and lightning magic because that seems to be the best combination to use when playing as thief and seems to be pretty versatile.
Holey Moley!!! Surprisingly this is a very popular choice...
Lightning is my favorite (just always liked the effect of lightning) but the mage's flamethrower skill looks incredible!
Cant wait to see how the spell look in DD2... considering all the improvements to dynamic lighting and particle effects. Should be a feast for the eyes, and really give them a feeling of power and momentum.
Fire and holy magic are my go to magiks, great video keep it up!
I have always liked the RP for a build like this. Righteous avenger cleansing the the sins of the wicked with holy fire.
@@Gaming_Analytic exactly! And mystic Knight helps pull that all together, sadly they don't actually have any holy flames maybe in DD2
Holy enhanced staff was the way to go for DD1, so hopefully it will be still viable in DD2. Also topor inducing rusty daggers was fun on large enemies.
I'm a fan of dark for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing how High Grapnel looks in DD2
Hoping they spice dark up a bit... Make it viable for a dark only build. I love the theme... Debilitating, crippling enemy offence and defencive capabilities. Softening them up for the kill.
I am always a fan for lighting, but I always try to have Fire, Ice and Lighting ready for any scenario that might require them.
Absolutely PrismCity... Not having a wide array of spell/enchanted weapons at the ready is asking to have you ass handed to you.
I have to go with holy. I've always been a fan of holy magic since I love playing support classes. Ice also looks like a lot of fun!
Dark Magic would be the most interesting especially since this game is drawing more from the fantasy roots! Happy to see how it changes in relation to this game and the interactions you have with it.
Debilitate and then have the pawns mop the floor whilst your enemies are helpless. Sounds like a pretty good time to me.
Ice has always been my fave magick type!
Maybe Holy for the Paladin Build but something about Lightning always seems fun.
Great guide, thanks.
Fireeee! The classic option of all fantasy rpgs
Thx for the guide!
Thanks for the info mate

Nothing quite like using Ice to freeze a saurian just to immediately lop off its tail.
it has been decided that my main pawn is gonna be a mage :).
Ice greatsword is the coolest. U can launch goblins and saurions while freezing them leading them to shatter by fall damage or stay frozen upside letting u do another ark of obliteration =)
Lol...
I want to use lightning cause it looks so cool and I like elemental magics. Also ice freezing enemies solid sounds fun as well. 😊
Master the elements. Dont sleep on Dark Magick, best if your looking to do a debilitation build.
Fire is the way, most creatures are weak to fire
Its a shame we arent getting mystic knight back because I always enjoyed giving myself magick enchants.
Even though I just started my journey with DD I think that combo with thunder and ice sound really cool. Those two can stun an enemy or hordes of them (or so i think at least :P) and the effects just look stuning (yup pun intended)
Pun appreciated ;P
My favourite archmagick is ice, especially playing with mk, you can frezee everything with ease
Freeze and smash. Destruction, a dish best served cold. :)
I guess you can't go wrong with Fire !
My prediction/guess is that fire will be decent early game... and start to fall off mid way through.
Sad thing there is no non / Light and Dark Magic in Dragons Dogma 2 :( i could cry
Yeah...they took a couple of steps back in some areas. Monster lore is another.
So it with neutral magick i don't have to care about elemental resistances. I like it.
if we talking about being op ofc holy magic will be very viable, but for fun i would like to see what they will do with the ice magic this time
I do hope they balance the magicks well, this will add soooo much depth and replayability to the game.
Maybe Holy, read somewhere that just a few enemies are resistant to it.
Holy was very strong /reliable in DD1. And also versatile (healing the party and damaging some enemies)
Cant wait to edritch blast my way to victory
Ice because the frozen effect
Definitely holy, spent too much time in bbi lol
i've always thought that dark is the coolest, even though it's not THAT useful
You're not the only one...
Lightning for stun ability.
That's right! Some enemies drop weapons or shields etc.
I like "Holy" b/c ghosts are super annoying to me.
They resist almost everything...!!! Grrrr
dragons dogma 2 ps5 please to win , healing and targeting golem with the magicarcher so dodn't drive myself nuts
Hi gamerzoo, I hae only given away Steam keys in the past (its pretty easy all things considered). Do you know of an easy way to do the same with PS4/5 titles.
Just gonna carry all elements but Grapnel > all spells :p
I'm probably just going to use sorcerer or maybe even necromancer if that's going to be in it or any other magic caster in it including the trickster I'm basically going to level up the vocation of all the magic vocation classes for the arisen and the main pawn😊
I like the sword the fighter the warrior and the mystic knight but I prefer magic overall and if you give me a bow I'll just throw it out one thing about dragon's dogma I can't stand bow and arrow vocation😢
A bow and arrow vocation is a lot like a first-person shooter it doesn't savor the moment there's no excitement there's no explosion there's no anime there's no konosuba anime adventure, and the beauty of dark magic and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks that 😢 PS the day I'm forced to use a bow and arrow vocation will be the day I blow up everything in dragon's dogma 2 just like the anime konosuba megumin! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Sorcerer all the way for me... I just love the theatrics of it too much to say no.
I always liked dark & lightning but dark never seemed usefull
Hopefully they put some work into balancing debilitations in DD2. If implemented well, it will add a whole new dimension to gameplay. Fingers crossed.
Why does the game look like a PS2 title?
The gameplay is a mix of DD1 and DD2... whereas the former is a PS3 title, so I'm guessing that is what you're referring to.
